Great DIY video. I installed the BOLT hood lock last year and no problems to report. Stops or controls any hood flutter and deters anyone from messing under the hood like the battery. An inexpensive one-piece grill mesh off Ebay will keep itchy fingers from getting behind the hood lock.
So, many times will come when you want to open your hood without turning the engine off, what do you do? Carry a second ignition key around? This is why other brands supply a unique key set.
jon Johnson as long as it has the cut out for you to access it. I’ve seen rigs with custom grills and the bolt locking system. But there are a bunch of different grills out there, so you’ll have to see if it’ll work for your own application.
Only thing that makes this not worth it is the rivets. Most people do not have the rivet gun. Yeah, its only $20 at harbor freight - but that is $20 more for this kit, essentially. Why this company did not simply include four self-tapping bolts or screws is beyond me.
wheezin_mtnbkr i think it’s because someone could potentially find a way to just unscrew the lock. This would allow your security system to be compromised. The rivet makes it nearly impossible to remove with common tools or without the access from opening the hood.
@@developmentdivision122 That makes sense. Still, I think these locks are great to stop a dip-shit teenager or vandal, but for someone coming with tools (ability to remove the hood lock) - they can simply unbolt the hood by the windshield or even unbolt the doors - even if they are locked. But I get your point.
almost died laughing when you stepped in the engine bay...haha, awesome videos man

so If someone comes in and jams a screw driver in the key hole and messes up the key hole, how will you open the hood if you cant use your own key?
Never be logical when someone is sharing their great idea with others.... You may need a locking cover to protect the hood lock from tampering.
Well this thing work with a custom grill

Good stuff!
Matthew RK thanks bro!
Why won't Jeep make everyone's life easier and just create an interior pull cable to open the hood?
171TITO doors come off. so that isn’t a good alternative
