I'm a Ride Op at USH right now and am hoping to transfer to this when it opens. It feels like half of the upper lot is closed right now - 2 of our shows, the giant people eaters - are closed for this ride! It's not gonna be some small family coaster, it's going to be Velocicoaster level good. Only better because it's a terrain ride!!
I believe this ride will incorporate some sort of “drift” element into the turns. During the turns, the cars will rotate inwardly towards the directions of the track giving the illusion of a drift. If done correctly, this element would be so awesome. Can’t wait for this ride !!!
I'm just excited that USH is finally getting a big coaster, and it's a terrain roller coaster no less. Park's been overdue for a truly signature roller coaster and this ride looks like it'll be it!
Woah I didnt expect this. Really cool! This is definitely a better choice than removing Revenge of the Mummy for a Fast and Furious ride which was rumored a year ago but shot down due to fan backlash.
Here is a very good coaster analysis of this amazing coaster if anyone wants it: Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift has an extremely good layout. The only thing that could make it perfect is a top hat, but besides that fact, this is basically a perfect coaster. This has a very high chance of being better than velocicoaster, and velocicoaster is the most perfect coaster that a coaster can possibly be. The first launch has the potential to launch up to 60 miles per hour from the first launch, which is crazy for a first launch. The first half is full of extreme airtime, a nice floater drop and the first corkscrew will give really good hang time. The stengal drop after the mid-course will give crazy lateral ejector, followed by a nice floater drop, which will make this a very nice double down, leading into the second launch, and will be extra good due to the speed going into this element. The second launch into the dive drop will also give really good floater, and the inverted drop will be like no other in the world. The third launch will give crazy ejector due to the high speed of 73 mph and the ejector hill right after the launch. The stall will likely be better than velocicoasters stall due to the high speed and the stall being snappy and drawn out at the same time, while velocicoasters stall is just snappy, not very drawn out. The third launch is important to make the finale even better. The off-axis airtime hill into the Jr. dive loop will give insane lateral ejector, like a combination of the off-axis airtime hill on velocicoaster mixed with the high-five element on west coast racers, while going over 70 mph, which should make for one of the best ejector airtime moments in the world, and a highlight on this coaster. The Jr. dive loop will look insane going over the escalators, and I can't wait to see how it will look. The positive G's at the bottom of the Jr. dive loop will add some intensity to this element. The 4th corkscrew will be absolutely insane due to the speed, snappy transition, and smoothness going through it which will make for a definite highlight of the ride and a great finale. The high speed final ejector airtime hill will have an extreme ejector airtime pop to make for a great high speed end to this amazing ride. It may not have a top hat or a heart line roll but it has some crazy elements to make for an AMAZING layout and ride experience. We only have a couple Intamins here, and for it to be a quad-launch blitz is just crazy. We've never had a rollercoaster of the scale here in Cali. I'm excited to see all the smiles before, during, and after the ride. Hope to see you here in California when this opens!

I'm really excited for it! Can't wait to sit down in car themed Intamin trains! And drifting looks so fun but unfortunately it isn't very safe and its illegal so I'm never gonna try it. I know it won't happen, but this makes me think of the unique design of the Donkey Coaster being built at Epic, where the train is set up in a way that can make it appear as if you actually fly off the track but land back on the track maybe twenty or thirty feet away. For something like Fast and Furious, that kind of visual illusion would work so well because it could make it look like you're leaping across a hole in bridge, or out of a building into another building on the other side of the road. Like I said: Probably not going to happen, but I think it would be amazing to see that kind of technology used on a ride like this (though, given the speed and inversions, it's likely not feasible). But man, would that be cool.
I hope this is good because we are spoiled by good coasters in LA. I have been on Velocicoaster and it is amazing! I am curious if this surpasses it! Good job Universal for investing in Hollywood. I am an annual passholder for Universal Orlando and never go to Hollywood and I live in Cali!

Fun fact: The two shows that are being taken away are actually The Animal Actor's Show and Special Effects Show. Taylor, you said that one of the buildings was sitting dormant but it wasn't. All buildings in this area were being used whether it be for the two shows or the small gift shop. With that, Universal is looking into bringing in another show (presumably Bourne) to Hollywood with two of the flagship attractions gone and with that, we'll most likely see the end of Revenge of the Mummy.
Crap I knew I had one of the shows wrong! I said make up show when it was Animal Actors, my bad! I never actually saw that show, I only ever saw the special effects show! -Taylor
@grlpowercoasters Revenge of the Mummy is what I'm hearing. It's nearing the time that Universal likes to shut down their Coasters at and it's not as popular as it used to be with the GP in the Lower Lot. Waterworld is here to stay. It has to. It's a capacity monster and it's a giant crowd favorite among park fans and GP alike. Apart from that, it just got new refurbished effects and set pieces such as the new sea plane so I doubt that's going away.
@CoasterStudios the Animal Actors show was a good one! Got to see it last year and while it definitely had it's moments of 'cringe', the animal tricks were really entertaining and I'm glad to know that all trained pets have been adopted by new families now!
Was just at Universal Hollywood about a month ago. We did the VIP tour and the guide wasn't sure what was going on yet. As we got to the top of the escalators to go down to lower lot we did hear those speakers pumping audio of people screaming like they were on a roller coaster. The guide mentioned that they were testing the sound pollution for their new ride. Funny you should mention that as it was something I never saw/heard before lol. I enjoyed the park for the new Super Mario Land, but the rides were a bit to be desired. Orlando is WAY better. But was still awesome to do the VIP tour.
I'm going to keep my expectations low until I see supports begin to show up. I got all excited that Knotts was going to get a Giga after Carowinds, Kings Island, and Canada's Wonderland got theirs. Knott's pulls in big numbers and they certainly deserve a Giga. With CGA closing, this is a perfect opportunity for a park to grab the spotlight.
@@jesters08joker.....I've been going to Knott's since I was in junior high. I NEVER thought they'd build Ghostrider on that land locked property but, they made it happen. However, with CGA closing, Cedar Fair needs to grab that crowd from Discovery Kingdom and SFMM. Even an airtime filled Hyper would be a thrill for California.
I think they're going to close the Fast and Furious tram thing when this opens. There's a rumor that that big chunk of land (including Falls Lake) might be used for a Diagon Alley expansion.
@@ThemeParkWizard That would be crazy though to have a ride be the singular point of travel between two areas of a park. Imagine the line for the having to get out of the area via train at the end of the day. It's like if they made the Mario pipe a dark ride.
@@IntaminFanGRLPowerCoasters i really don’t get the launch before the dive loop as they could have just made the dive loop smaller and it would’ve worked for less money
4:02 woo! Animation! Haha. Who's your Online Editor....they're fired ;-P (For those who can't take a joke, I know they are editing whilst traveling throughout the world right now)
I remember when the Fast and Furious Supercharged came back in 2014, I thought that ride was going to be a roller coaster. That 3D storyline crap tram ride was a major letdown. I hope that the launch parts of the coaster are going to have a NOS boost and sound effects. It'd be cool if they were to add some NOS Button Steering Wheels in the front of each train. Here is something that they also could have done with the new Fast and Furious roller coaster. They could have added another layer of track with another train and have them racing against each other calling the coaster Fast and Furious: Street Racers. It's not too late for them to make that idea work, that would take care of the long 2-hour lines, because nobody wants to deal with that. Looking forward to seeing this roller coaster in 2025.
Velocicoaster has no MCBR, but it has the second launch which separates the block zones of the spaghetti section and the top hat section. S/o @eltororyan
I'm sorry but this "rumor" should be called Red Flags: The Ride. There are just too many suspicious "features". Like the tracks encircling the StarWay. Remember when that was part of the early rumors for VelociCoaster? It's something that keeps coming up in rumors but never ends up happening. It's even worse here than in IOA. Going under the StarWay would raise the cost of the project considerably because it will require digging down into the hill the park sits on and then doing major reinforcement projects. Which would also mean a new support system for the StarWay. Which means closing the StarWay for a long period of time. So, yeah. Also, four launches?? Really? The feature that breaks down the most? Yeah, let's do four of them! VelociCoaster only has two, so this screams Fan Fiction. But the biggest red flag is the ambition of this. USH doesn't need a VelociCoaster West. Knott's and Magic Mountain are NOT its competition. Their attendance COMBINED is still lower than USH's. Because as much as some people love coasters, there's way more money focusing on families. This is why USF - a park that's got 85 simulators, one of the worst coasters in the state, and one decent indoor coaster - often outperforms the far-more-complete - and thrill-ride-obsessed - IOA. Or SeaWorld. Or Busch Gardens. In the LA area, this market is Disneyland, DCA and USH. It's certainly not going to steer people from Disneyland. So its only true competitor is California Adventure, which is reflected in their similar attendance figures. It's a family park for tourists. A coaster will not drive attendance beyond the year it opens. The last time they built a "thrill" coaster - The Mummy - attendance rose the year it opened, then plummeted back to its regular level the following year. USH attendance is driven far more by IP than anything else. It's why they keep adding experiences to the Studio Tour. Fast & Furious _________ on a billboard will bring tourists to the park. ________ Coaster? Not so much. So why do a VelociCoaster when a less-themed and far cheaper Hagrid's would accomplish the same thing? I'm certainly not going to say this will never happen. It certainly wouldn't be the first stupid move Universal has made (like the previous Fast & Furious attraction). But those are creative missteps, which are never definitive. Demographics, on the other hand, are definitive and this rumor is well outside their target demographic. So we'll see...
This rumor is NOT a red flag. These “Suspicious features” which is a Jr dive loop under the escalator is not “suspicious”, and rather unique. If there was rumors about something similar to this happening with velocicoaster during EARLY rumors, just remember it doesn’t always end up happening, as the keyword is RUMORS. But these aren’t rumors, Its an actual leaked blueprint from USH. Plus, going under the escalator is a good interaction this coaster could do just like velocicoaster did an interaction with the water. Velocicoaster isn’t a terrain based coaster like this coaster for hollywood will be. If they would need to close the starway for a long period of time im sure Universal wouldn’t do this interaction with the escalator. Its the only way guests get down there to access the other part of the park. It wouldn’t make sense for them to close it down for a long period of time. And again, real leaked blueprints and not fan fiction. USH doesn’t need a velocicoaster west, but they do need a GOOD coaster. USH hasn’t received a coaster in about 20 YEARS. Possibly after this opens, who knows how long we will have to wait for another coaster. Universal realized the success of Velocicoaster and hagrids. So im sure they wanted to bring a very thrilling coaster to the park to target more thrills just like Orlando since it was such a success. Its fine if USH doesn’t steer attendance for Disney since Disney targets younger audiences, but yet universal’s attendance can still boost by a lot. Because if you think about it, USH receiving a coaster is HUGE. Everyone knows USH isn’t really for thrills since they know most are simulators. So im sure this coaster could bring people and boost attendance because people will be pumped about this velocicoaster style coaster coming to Hollywood since its the first true “scary” rollercoaster at the park. Meaning audiences who love thrills will come to USH. The mummy isn’t as big as the fast and furious franchise. Having a high speed rollercoaster themed to fast and furious or to high speed cars will do well as a coaster and its something they should have done instead of supercharged. I’m sure if universal creates this coaster with great theming, onboard music, sounds, show-scenes, it will be great. This will happen as construction already started 1 month ago. This decision is great, and will be a great addition to the park as this is what its been needing. Now targeting all audiences from any age. But Supercharged is a mistake as admitted by universal.
Seems to be a great ride idea spanning the two terrains... but the original spike concept was awesome, with the cars seemingly performing a drifting 180' turn on the spike, that would have been a really cool and unique feature. The FATF ride in Orlando sucks, they should have gone with a Test Track kinda ride, where riders are actually inside a car type vehicle racing around an indoor track layout before breaking out into the open air, they could even have a street race mechanic which I hope they do on the roller coaster on the mid course brake run.
Something like test track would look very ugly on the mountain and it would be difficult on terrain. Also, the spike was rumored to be removed because of capacity
This might come off as spoiled haha… I know SFMM still gets coasters on a regular basis and the fact but all of the coasters there and within Knott’s/Seaworld SD, Southern CA still doesn’t really have a no doubter rollercoaster that cracks enthusiasts top 25. X-2 is a love or hate it kinda thing and Ghostrider gets ignored too much even though it’s world class. So I’m super excited and will be proud to have a potential high world ranking coaster representing my neck of the woods.
That's bs as a former universal employee I can tell you first hand there is a noise level ordinace for Universal Studios because it is surrounded by homes on the right side of the valley you will never get permission to build that it doesn't matter what they file it won't happen.
They were recently testing roller coaster sounds and screams from on top of the special effects stage. I'm guessing the sounds aren't too loud for those nearby homes
Highly doubt the vehicles will rotate. That was a cool concept art, but notice that switch back hook from the sketch is no where to be found. I think they pivoted to a more Velocicoaster type coaster and not a switch back reverse rotating car style.
I think the vehicles will at least partially rotate to mimic car drifting. It would be a huge missed opportunity to not have some kind of drifting element.
@@imsocool5932 I guess it does face toward Ventura Blvd and not the actual backlot. But I always heard (and thought it was reasonable) that they didn't have a big outdoor rollercoaster because the noise from it would interfere with outdoor filming.
The only thing more i would want would be if it was a dueling coaster but i think fast and furious deserves better than its got until now im not much of fan but agree it will probably be a great coaster
Beg to differ. Intamin has absolutely most definitely used "controlled spin" on its ride vehicles before. Gringott's has several show scenes where the vehicle is perpendicular to the track and even undulates left & right while stopped. This is why I was most perplexed about all of the ballyhoo surrounding Guardians. This idea ain't new. Gringott's did it back in 2014. And no, I don't agree with the lame argument that Gringott's is a dark ride vs. a coaster. Regardless of the vehicles state of motion, the design concept is the same.

Looks like a great ride, should really balance that parks lineup!
Makes sense to have multiple launches…simulating a car accelerating
I hate that all the universal parks are hours away from me 😭 the closest one is Orlando and I’ve been once and that was before velocicoaster
I think they're going to close the Fast and Furious tram thing when this opens. There's a rumor that that big chunk of land (including Falls Lake) might be used for a Diagon Alley expansion.
correct
That would be amazing, but how are they going to get guests over to that section other than like, a Hogwarts Express West?
@@Qrispy that was/could still be the plan
@@ThemeParkWizard That would be crazy though to have a ride be the singular point of travel between two areas of a park.
Imagine the line for the having to get out of the area via train at the end of the day. It's like if they made the Mario pipe a dark ride.
@@Qrispy it’s likely there would be a walking option as well
the layout is soooo weird but hopefully it will be good
Almost half of the ride seems to just be SPEED and going FAST with LSMs. I mean it better be FAST and Furious! Can't wait!

This ride would remind me of Helix at Liseberg! Wish it was a Mach Coaster!

@@CoasterStudios I am guilty of this also! Hoooray for Post Production 🤪
I hope you know that takes double the space lol
Similar story on the border of Arizona and California I drove past a Fast & Furious film set they had set up for some train scene years and years ago.
I imagine if USF Get an indoor attraction named Matt Lauer:The Experience.
...what? 😐

Universal Hollywood definitely needs this. But after supercharged in Orlando needs to go lol Universals leadership has admitted it’s not good.
Intamin and spinning coasters? That is great 😅 #objectifmars
It's Universal, so I'm not too worried. Gringotts hasn't had any lithium battery fires as far as I know
This could be sick
The new dragster track is on site
They should pay tribute to fast n furious 1 and 2 when designing the carts . FYI 1 to 3 movies are the last best movies in the franchise.
so its like the velocity coaster from orlando but now its fast anf furious in hollywood cool
And it’s on a mountain with spinning cars
They are currently drilling under the starway as we speak
and the whole area under the starway is fenced off
IOA has always had higher attendance than USH
Yikes
@@imsocool5932I think they were talking about for Orlando not hollywood
@@ZebraGamez19 oh mb too late
STFU man it's gonna happen if u like it or not bs bs your life is bs
They were recently testing roller coaster sounds and screams from on top of the special effects stage. I'm guessing the sounds aren't too loud for those nearby homes
He’s not wrong. That is why in the early concept art, the trains had spinning cars so that they can direct the screaming away from the houses.
Highly doubt the vehicles will rotate. That was a cool concept art, but notice that switch back hook from the sketch is no where to be found. I think they pivoted to a more Velocicoaster type coaster and not a switch back reverse rotating car style.
That would be really good as well! I'm excited for whatever is coming:) it just better be an Intamin:)
I think the vehicles will at least partially rotate to mimic car drifting. It would be a huge missed opportunity to not have some kind of drifting element.
@@SalivatingSteve I'd take a good coaster over a gimmick for IP sake any day.

why do you have that serial killer lighting going on😭😭
We filmed this while traveling when we didn’t have access to our usual lighting or studio. This was at our Airbnb when it was all we had.
So how will this thing not interfere with film production shooting on the backlot?
Soundproof barriers and prob facing the cars away from the backlot with the spinning cars
It depends on the storyline
Woah
Looks like the audio and video got messed up on the upload guys.
Our audio is in sync with the video, what issue are you referring to?
What is universal Hollywood? Is it Hollywood studios or universal studios?
It is a universal park
Beg to differ. Intamin has absolutely most definitely used "controlled spin" on its ride vehicles before. Gringott's has several show scenes where the vehicle is perpendicular to the track and even undulates left & right while stopped. This is why I was most perplexed about all of the ballyhoo surrounding Guardians. This idea ain't new. Gringott's did it back in 2014. And no, I don't agree with the lame argument that Gringott's is a dark ride vs. a coaster. Regardless of the vehicles state of motion, the design concept is the same.
That's the system this will use
Hold on this thing will have spinning seats?
Yes. They will spin to create a drifting sensation
The possibility is there for spinning seats to redirect the screams away from the houses near the park
@@revived2036 & scream tunnels like Incredicoaster from what I've heard
