Happy New Year! What are your plans for 2023?
Aren't "tiny homes" usually not connected to any other structure? Like more off grid with it's own electrical (solar), sewer, waters system? Happy New Year!
I'm going to look into getting a second job to start saving for my van.

I want to find passion in everyday activities, at 74 I want to enjoy the small tasks again and put the body aches in the rear view mirror whenever possible.
On another note, I found undersized pillows look lost on the sofa…try larger square pillows in each corner, put the Amber colored ones you bought in front of the two new large square ones and then the off white one in the middle, total 5 pillows! 🍷This is fun together!

The transformation from the van to a dwelling is worth watching...💯👍 An area rug 5X9 or 8X10 with colors from the sofa and pillows would be cohesive...You don't want the rug to look like a postage stamp, being too small..😃That's a term we say in staging class..

I made a NY resolution 35 years ago to never make another one. No prob sticking to it lol. You don't need a date or event to change the way you live, you can start anytime. Got dad on ag1 now, he feels better now that all of his nutrition isn't coming from a box in the freezer.. happy new year!!!!!
Life's journey is all about change! Otherwise, wouldn't it be boring? Also - setting goals and actually writing them down helps to enforce them in our minds, but also helps us to revisit them and see what progress is being made toward achieving them! I think goals and "resolutions" are 2 different things.
I currently feel lost? Yet at the same time, I know I'm not lost. I easily get overwhelmed by the smallest of tasks. Sooo... I'm seeking simplicity this year. Simplicity, serenity and ease. I've been thru SO MUCH since 2006 on thru to 2015... I just need alone time. Time to meditate. Practice Tai Chi... Play my instruments. Day dream... Just breathe. Experience gratitude everyday. And enjoy the LITTLE THINGS! For it REALLY is the little things that makes my heart sing. Wishing you well, NOW and always😏👍 Stay safe! 💚

I am relocating to NWA in March I am so excited! I will look for a one bedroom apartment, get a new job and there is loads of walking and bicycle riding ❤️👍I love Home Goods ❤️❤️❤️

I'm too old for resolutions - I'm just thankful when I wake up in the mornings alive!! The apartment is coming together! I see you got your tv. Are you still getting an caramel colored chair? If so, I would pick different pillows and something with a pattern. Maybe get your rug and choose a different accent color from it. I have a yucky plastic kitchen trash can and there's really no good spot for it so I put it in the garage. I want one of those pretty stainless steel ones but they're too pricey and I just don't have room. You can do whatever you want but as far as getting a pet, I would give it just a little more time for you to see what your new life really is. There will always be rescues waiting when you're ready! My class and I are making vision boards for the year. They have the option of making a poster or a digital version. I love part-time travel and still having a home to come back to. I’m glad you and your story are evolving! Looking forward to continuing to follow your journey! If you are going to travel overseas it may be a good idea to wait for another dog.
Amber, you are very reflective today, and your history research is awesome. I love that top still. Your goal setting with a routine is what we all try to do. My usual resolution for the New Year is to have a better year then last year. Which won't be difficult this year. If you go down to Big Bend my brother and sister-in-law volunteer at the parks ofc.
I just downloaded an app that will help with a routine. I heard this really great thing the other day. Instead of resolutions, I'm setting some intentions. :)

Yes, whatever makes your heart beat is what God means for you to do ❣️ Also , if you don't go travel abroad after this next year, or if you do , I'm suggesting try giving it a year and then get a new baby or even a set of pup babies ❤️ that's what I would do, if after a year I haven't traveled then it's puppy time. If I have traveled then all the better to have gotten it out of my system right?

Tapestries / Macrame for the walls. Carpets and pillows. I think the pillows you got are fine. How 'bout some of your own work for the walls. Hate the idea of a hollow sounding place. You may want to get a temp or part time job. It can be fun. Need routine, that's a good place to start. Or take classes toward a new skill. Texas is great for college. Best to you! (Oh yeh, window coverings will quiet things down too.) Most of all, do you and don't criticize yourself. I've been watching *NDE's and they have taught me so much about how to live. *Near Death Experiences.

I agree with your change. Gas is getting more expensive. Parking can be hard to find in the evening. There are safety issues with being a woman alone. I am sure you need a rest from van life. Enjoy your new home.

My plans for 2023 are to take a car camping trip every month. Even if just for a weekend!
Happy New Year! I plan to travel more now that we are retired. Don't rush in to getting a dog. Maybe take some trips when you get your passport replaced. You'd have to kennel a dog if you wanted to do that. I always hated putting mine in a kennel.

I was glad to see you get a place, so I never for one minute thought about leaving your channel, Amber. I get to see what you buy for your apartment and all the great ideas you have for your new place. As far as resolutions, I just say I'm going to try to do better on certain aspects of my life. I don't say I'm going to for sure, but that I'll TRY do better. That way I don't disappoint myself if I don't accomplish a certain goal. That's not a good feeling to carry around, that I failed. That meal looked so yummy. Thanks for showing the air fryer, because I was clueless about them. I love going shopping with you. Since I retired two years ago, I dropped a lifetime of routines. As I reflected on it now, I see that routine was not my enemy. My random drifting days seem to be missing a purpose or intention that working previously provided. So I am thinking about how to create a good purpose now.
I love your gray sofa. I'd now search for a rug, and then pull colors for your accessories from there. You can go very neutral, or colorful. A rug will help soften some of the hollow sound you're experiencing, too. Thanks for sharing this part of your journey, Amber. It's all good!

Happy New Year! I'm so happy for you and your new place. Doing what is right for you is the best thing. As for my new year promise to myself I am going to try to be more organized, continue traveling at least once a month in our RV travel trailer and travel with/or without friends, write more children's books, write more poetry and adult books and focus on being healthy and learning new things. You reminded me how much I miss yoga and meditation and now I would also like to learn Tai Chi. Best Wishes love your channel.

I am an animal lover too. I don’t have a dog now but eventually I want to find one that I feel is perfect for me. It took me a very long time to get over the loss of my dog Sasha. You’ll know when it’s the right time to get another dog.

Lived in the DFW area for almost 3 decades. I have a good friend who teaches book binding at the Addison Craft Guild. At least I think that is the name, they offer tons of painting and other art classes. Might want to check it out. 😊
I never make resolutions, I am a true believer in having a routine. I find it very rewarding to stick to it and get things accomplished. All the best with your new adventure of having both life styles.

Thank you for the confirmation of what I’m feeling about this year. I’m needing routine as well and have already started with my Physical Therapy exercises every day and a walk with stairs and hills one day and more level and easier the next. It’s a start and I will add things to my routine as I’m ready.

A rug will help with the echo. Try finding an area rug with some rust in it. Pictures with the rust too. Should help to tie it together. Just splashes off the rust color. You seem to be adjusting well. It’s so fun to make a home.

Since you asked..........My lease ends on 10-31-23 and on the 1st of November I will be pulling out of the parking lot in my camper van and headed for new adventures!!!!!!!! I have perpetual lists that I add to and mark things off of regularly. I still loosely follow the David Allen GTD approach. I tend to review the year in December and brainstorm new stuff a bit but I've never been a New year's Resolution person.
I'm leaning towards spending the summer on the blue Ridge parkway and not crossing coast to coast 3 or 4 times this year though.

I don’t purposely sit and write out a New Year’s resolution plan. I make my resolutions as I go along. Always on a journey of self- improvement. Seeking after the water that the Bible says when we drink from it, we will never thirst!!! Be blessed.

Happy New Year Amber! I think you are spot on with getting into routines now that you can again. I tend to break resolutions as soon as I make them so I don’t set them really. My mindset last year and this year has been to treat myself as kindly as I do my best friend. I can do that by making sure I move my body daily, by forgiving myself when I make mistakes, and by holding myself accountable. I am trying to exude joy in my life because I want to be more joyful!
If you find and good DFW hikes let us know! I’ve been trying to expand my hiking area. We do Erwin park in McKinney but there are a lot of bmx bikers on the trail. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano is also lovely, but I think both of those are a bit far from you still.

Trying to charge Lithium batteries when it's freezing is what ruins them. I don't mean the weather, I mean the actual temperature of the battery. I just keep a big list of things I want to get done. Big or small.

I’m planning on concentrating on my photography. Also get rid of things I’m not using.
Consider this: Gray is a cool tone and rust is a warm tone. Nice contrast but difficult to incorporate other colors that match.
You might consider just going with cooler tones- I.e. Gray couch- Cool-toned bright pop of red, blue, green and/or purple.
The colors in your environment have quite an impact on your mood.
I have white, Kelley green and navy blue accenting my gray Davenport and it is easy to add other items. Makes me feel energized, fresh and clean.
Pottery Barn has rugs on sale.
I have to agree Kae. I've been having the same thoughts about warm and cool tones when I'm considering for my new home. Thank you for the back up on that one! I might go with a beige sofa cuz I like warm colors.
I love that idea of purple with the grey!!! it's different and you can add lighter purples with other things....oh it will definitely give it a "punch" of zing in that room - great suggestion Kae
