- I take a first drive and review of the 2018 Lexus LC500 from Lexus! Renowned for being the "Mini LFA," we delve into the specific details and offer a comprehensive first-drive review of the stunning LC500.

4 years with my LC500 so far, can't seem to fathom the thought of parting with it. They truly are amazing vehicles; one of the best cars i've owned (over 100+ cars). Reliable, nearly 500hp, 30-33mpg on long road trips, an more comfort than you can imagine. Made in the same Motomachi, Japan plant as the LFA, by the same senior craftsmen. These are diamonds.
My father just purchased one and I took it for a spin on my wedding day, been in a 2023 M5 competition with all the extras and the LC at around 20k less is just unbelievable. It's no where near as quick, but when you sit in a LC you know the car is special, the quality, the seats, the driving position, no Audi and BMW compare, the LC is just such a special car inside. Oh and that sound when in sports+ manual is music to my ears
This is my dream car, i will buy this no matter what; I just hope lexus will continue making these for another 10 years.
The LC500 is simply a piece of art. If someone is only chasing 0-60 times, they should get a Corvette, Supra, Mustang, or something else. Great review! Shimmy is right about an attainable dream car

@@IneffableEntity two totally different cars... I had a Hellcat Challenger before the LC500. Both are great choices. The Hellcat was more hooligan fun. But the LC500 is more rare
@@wykydytron the LC500 took a sudden hit in the pre-owned market. I've seen them for $65k... there are a lot of factors that come into play for attainable though

What a great review! picked up mine about a month and a half ago, 2024 Inspiration Series, I love everything about this car, had porsches 911, Jaguar Ftype, Audi R8 and Merceds Benz AMG C68 before, let me tell you, this LC 500 is a keeper, might not be the fastest car in town, but it's fast enough for me, despite other people's opinion and the exhaust sound is fantastic, I would say, as good or better than the F type. The satin white on the blue interior is just insane, Lexus did a great job with this combo
I just picked up my '18 LC 500 with the performance package in Infrared Red with Toasted Caramel interior.. I've been waiting to get this car since I first saw it back in late '17..

I’ve had my 2018 since new and out of my 50+ vehicles it’s still my favorite I’ve ever owned. Mine is wrapped in satin pearl white and it’s stunning.

Only 15,000 miles, actually. I have three other cars that I rotate through right now (Tacoma 6MT, BMW M4 6MT and a Hyundai Kona N). The only issues I’ve had were covered under warranty- loose third brake light, squeaky front brake pads, and the major one being four defective blend door HVAC actuators, but that last issue affected numerous 18/19 models due to a manufacturing defect. Still have no rattles or creaks. The best upgrade I’ve done was ditching the crappy Bridgestone run flats for Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires which took it to the next level of comfort and handling.
Yes I am also a BIG fan of the 4S tires I have them on my R8. Love those tires. Best I have ever had.

A buddy took me for a ride in his LC500. Man! That amazing sound it makes! Extremely nice car. It is very much like a smooth, quiet, comfortable Mustang GT. I have a 20 Mustang GT and imho the two cars are very similar in FEEL and the raw fun factor, but the LC is the rich cousin whi lives in a mansion and golfs, while the Mustang is the poor cousin who lives in the burbs and goes hunting.

@@carswithsonduren Oh jeez my 2011 GT is the one that got away! I'd love to have that car back! Silver. Manual. Had her all fixed up injectors intake exhaust tuned lowered and nice fat rear tires. I bought 10.5 rims for the rear identical to the stock rims in front. It was hard to tell I was running 500 horses. Could barely tell it was modified at all. Ahhh. Dam. The one that got away!

Just placed my deposit for the 2024 yesterday. I was trying to get a C8 but quickly realized I was getting a Cobalt service and changed my mind now that the LC has the updated infotainment system.

@@carswithsonduren I was hoping to be first on the list, but I think I was about the 10th. They're going to get an allocation every two weeks starting in September. So about Jan/Feb 2024. Possibly sooner if others flake. Can't wait for that next chapter.

Nice review! You are correct, Lexus has invested a lot of time in understanding their customers, hence the high level of repeat purchases. I can't wait to hear your impressions on the IS500, too bad you have already filmed it, as there are suggestions we owners have to help ensure a well rounded review. Both the LC500 and IS500 have Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde characteristics; but in general, Lexus defaults to Dr. Jekyll. Drive them both in manual & sport+ and Mr. Hyde will come out to play. Lastly, the IS500 is still a daily commuter at its heart, so the extra loud exhaust was not part of the equation. Just the hum of the V8 as you commute to and from the office, with the ability for weekend mountain fun and canyon carving! Thanks for posting.

idk if ill ever afford a LFA so the LC 500 is simply just the next best thing to me that looks similar. I love the way the lfa looks, its a very stoic sneaky design as a supercar.

My 2015 RC350 F-Sport has the LFA gauge cluster (F-Sport exclusive) and the seats move up automatically when trying to get into the back of the coupe too.
If the LC ever drops to 40-50k for good ones it will be a crazy deal. I want to see its long term reliability as owners have said it has insanely overpriced parts.
Very possible. Depends what happens with the broader used vehicle market in the next few years. Though the engine and transmission should be bulletproof.
Parts aren’t overpriced check what material they used on that vehicle and you will quickly understand why parts are expensive for it
@@esthetics4512 Its not really common parts such as maintenance items but parts such as body components, suspension components and I would like to see how the rear-wheel steering holds up.
@@2ZZGE100 That is true but am hoping to see it compete more with the last gen m3/c63 as you can snag good ones for around 50k if you are patient. For now, only high milage lc500s are going for around that price.
@@Dom-sy3me It is a pure GT car. It is not meant to compete with M cars. That is what the RCF/TE is for and I own one. It does well from my personal experience. Not a leader at anything, but does everything very well. For example, mine has only two bolt ons and I am in the high 11s as far as my Dragy goes at sea level DA

I also really hate the new LC interior, unlike most people I loved the first gen "art" display. it was similar to the RR phantom. I don't see myself using the infortmaiment for anything more than music.

Get this . I have both a Sc400 99 & and 98 . And i just purchased an LC.. Guess what guys , my 98 Sc400 moves the backseat back and forward by the one touch also !. That has been a 26 yr old feature !

Good review, amazing car! Perhaps "Mini" isn't the word that comes to mind when thinking about a car that weighs about 5 full-grown humans more than the LFA and is significantly longer.. but It is a beauty and a has a serious comparative value.

@@andrewrae50 I was referring to the difference in weight between the two cars (~850 pounds). The LFA is actually much heavier than it looks, but so is the LC..

Hands down one of the best looking cars on the road today. Every time I see one can't stop staring at it. Just wished the interior could live up to the exterior. Whoever designed the exterior deserves a long vacation...but the group that did the interior better get their a$$ back to work...and I mean weekends too.

we bouight a new Lexus GX in 2017 for $50,000 because we have a lot of Toyotas in the family and they never had problems. My parents being heavy users didn’t realize that the interval was in Kilometres, they thought it was in miles, so the SUV was basically getting few oil changes during its life. They sold it in 2022 with 150,000KMS and only had 6 oil changes and services done. They said it was the cheapest SUV they ever owned, most reliable and robust. in 2022, when they traded it in for a 4runner the dealer offered them $35,000. Great car Lexus and Toyota!
love the title :D The LC weighs 4400-4800lbs, about 1200-1600lbs more than the LFA. I loved owning an LC but its tuned terribly from Lexus and needs to get on a 600-700lb diet. Lexus liked to boast the LC as a good track car when its balanced but tuned to be an LC (luxury car) as its named. Lexus took a big chance on the design but I feel like they didnt know what they truly wanted for this car. It needs a proper tune, shed a lot of weight, shrink by 4-5", and remove the back seats...if its gonna keep the 471 crank HP/ 395-400 wheel HP.
Thats as heavy as an old Chevy truck!! Its more of a road car, weight almost forgivable but still that just crazy heavy for a car.
Used to be a 3300 lb car was called "heavy"

SC430 is still a timeless beauty and not just that but ultra reliable UZ engine that can take 500hp with stock internals

@@carswithsonduren 1UZs from the 90s took 800hp stock all day. 2UZ-3UZ less so but 500hp is no issue with internal upper cylinder cooling
I test drove an SC and it is crazy how silent the interior is. I owned a GX and the SC was a notch above. It’s not surprising these cars are still pulling questionable prices.

I want one of these. However…if I won the lottery of hundreds of millions? LFA for me. Actually a LC500 for normal every day driving and an LFA for church on Sundays. lol. But anyhow this LC500 is beautiful. It looks phenomenal! My big time honcho of a boss has one. It’s so nice that I’m embarrassed to park my old IS250 next to it haha.

Got a special PPF film applied that makes the paint underneath Matt
so the wrap was normal black and after he put the protection now it looks like a matt black wrap?

I love it. I just couldn’t get over the fact that this car should be a twin turbo V8. It has nowhere near the power it needs. This thing should be a monster. I ended up going with a G82 m4. I couldn’t get my carbon ceramic brakes with the Lexus, either, so, it was a no brainer for me. But the Lexus looks so good. Interior looks amazing. And it’s time to get the annual detail on your ride. The interior needs a lot of work. When the leather is shiny, it’s dirty. The drivers side door pull is dirty black and the seats need some work.
G82 is pure sex your a lucky guy.

Take it to the dealer and have them pull the exhaust valves off or get a valve control module

Those blacked-out 'pieces' (rear light surrounds) aren't chrome, they're cheap chrome-look plastic. So blacking them out was a wise decision. Not sure about the choice of interior colour. I think in the US it's called toasted caramel. IMO, it looks more like a cross between peanut butter and canned cat food. Better-off opting for the black and Beaujolais red interior combo. I should be one to criticise though; I only drive a Kia 😢

@@carswithsonduren I've worked on Mercedes and Audi closest I came to a R8 is a RS5 I know they are not the same . I worked on 5 LC500 and they are too much fun interior is A1
The AMG GTS is a brutal beast. R8 is more tame, where the LC500 is more a Japanese luxury cruiser.
