In my family French toast was and still is, a savory dish. Thick slices of a dense, yet soft bread such as sour dough, put into a mixture of eggs beaten together with a little milk, sour cream, and salt and pepper. Let bread soak up the eggs until the bread is fully saturated. Fry in a hot pan, flip it, turn the heat down to low, and cover the pan. The bread will puff up like a souffle. It's ready when a knife that's inserted comes out clean. Make a few shallow slits into the top of the bread, spread with soft butter, which will make its way into the the slits, and lastly, salt and pepper. I encourage people to try this, not as a replacement for the sweet version, but simply a different way of eating eggs. I enjoy the French toast with fruit and whipped cream too, but not as much as the version that I grew up on. As the subreddit says, Bone Apple Tea!
I’ll definitely be trying this, savory and sweet. The sour cream is a smart addition. I add sour cream to my scrambled eggs before cooking, to give a soft texture and some tang
Oh same here, French toast was always savory! Id make French toast and mix oregano, lemon pepper and paprika in the egg mixture then make it into a French toast grilled cheese sandwich 👍
@@zoeyr2739 I also like some sour cream in my scrambled eggs. And if I'm making either a bashed egg sandwich, or a tuna fish sandwich, I always use both mayo, and sour cream. It makes them a bit lighter.
Damn, Adam. You didn't have to please the fork

I never even thought of making Savory French Toast even as I've made savory waffles before. THANKS, I definitely must try this!
What'll they do after Worth It? Hope we see them again.
1000% agree to the pancake vs waffles debate.....French Toast is the winner
Normally yes, French toast is the best... Except for Waffle House waffles which is on entirely different level that demolishes everything.
Waffles have pockets for syrup. Pockets for syrup! POCKETS FOR SYRUP!
Waffles.
I AGREE! I always say French toast when someone asks me waffles or pancakes😌
Waffles is second tho😅
Haven’t seen these guys in so long but im glad they kept adam
I personally prefer pancakes. I only recently started to like waffles if they’re freshly made.
Pancakes, waffles or French toast why choose have them all 🎉
Totally agree 👍
