Is it actually free to distribute your music on TuneCore?
Yes, it is free but only to a limited number of social platforms. TuneCore will distribute your music to Facebook, UA-cam, Instagram, and TikTok for free. Yes, for free. However, you only retain 80% of your music royalties that you would make on TikTok, for example.
How do you know what music distributor to go with?
Don't overthink the question to much. Go with the music distributor that works the best for your needs. For example, are you looking for music publishing in a music distributor? Then TuneCore would be the best option for you. Are you looking for unlimited releases? Then TuneCore or DistroKid would be the best option for you. Do you want free distribution to Spotify and Apple Music? Then a distributor like Amuse or United Masters might be right for you. You have to decide what are the features you want first.

Does Tunecore still have the yearly fee to keep up your projects? That's the only thing that turned me off compared to one and done at cdbaby and my projects stay in stores.
Tunecore has been maliciously claiming copyrights from original music of UA-camrs left and right.
The Twoset Violin is one of the prime examples where they are the complete owners of the audio and video but then, they just received a copyright claim guess where from?

Good question Albert, I wouldn't 100% know. Tunecore could be a good option but there might be something specific to EDM too.

Good question, I don't know off the top of my head but they also have a Paypal option like DistroKid. There is also a fee for that as well.

Hey, i have a question about TuneCore, so as far as i know, whenever you upload your first music Tunecore will generate a new profile and the music video itself, you will get YT content ID. So my question is when profiles merge, and you claim your official artist chanel, can you delete the video Tunecore generated for you, and reupload the song with your own video. This really freaks me out, i couldnt find any topics about it.
Yes you can. I've done it. And somehow, UA-cam still recognises that video as your content, when someone does a UA-cam search for you as the artist. This could be because I have an official artist channel, or regardless. I'm not sure.
EVERYTHING gets lumped into your official artist channel, and then you can delete the audio with album art videos they automatically create.
But do write in to them, and check if they will help you collect any money from your official music videos which you upload yourself!

Hey does Tunecore let you whitelist your chamnel before i upload my music video to youtube? Because i just found out with distrokid... you have to wait until you get a cc claim on your channel and then dispute it.. i find that unfair if that's the case.. then the distributors earn 20% until the cc claim is cleared and that couls take days or weeks.. does anyone have more info on this? Are you able whitelist your chanell on Tunecore and then when you upload on music is should be all clear automatically?

So, the trust is already built with Tunecore…but now with their new pricing plan that rivals Distrokid, I would say that makes it better for the consumer. Go with what you prefer. I will try Tunecore again!

Where do I begin…I released an album around 2009-10. They distributed it to all the digital companies that were present at the time. In all the years it’s been out there, I’ve seen one check for like $25. I’ve seen all the sales stats, but never the payout. They are really good at giving your music away for free!
And the management of the meta data is handled by a bunch of baffoons!
They take forever to respond and take care of any issues you have. I’ve sent a complaint and issue of meta data on iTunes over a year ago. Still this issue is not been taken care of. They also mixed up my initial release with another artist of the same name. That took forever to get my album placed under my own artist page.
They are happy to take your music and make money on it for themselves. And, there is no way to audit their records.
As if this wasn’t enough. The biggest issue I have with them, was when Spotify went public, they automatically sent my music to them without consulting me first. Spotify never sent me a notice of intent to distribute my album either.
Once again, to this day, haven’t seen a dime since that initial check years and years ago.
If you want to loose your music forever, throw it into the eternal pit of digital distribution Hell!!!
