happy new year guys! kurt and i are back in seoul and we just finished our 10 days of mandatory quarantine here in korea. regardless of vax status or visa, everyone coming in to the country has to quarantine, but since kurt is korean and i have a long term visa, we're allowed to do it in the comfort of our own home. if you're a short term visa or flying from a list of countries (the list makes zero sense and needs to be ripped up imo) you have to stay in a $$$$$ government facility. im so thankful that not only was i able to quarantine comfortably, but that i was able to do it with kurt. i think i would have been in a very different mental state if i had done this alone, so if you're preparing for this for the first time, try to set up times to video chat friends and family (even if you're just watching a movie at the same time or something lol) because it can be rough. luckily for the two of us we were just antsy and wanted to walk lol. hope you're all staying safe and having a good start to your new year. sending love as always and im happy to be back and ready to share seoul with you again^^

I remember that blog of that write-yourself-a-letter cafe like it was yesterday, I didn't need to know that it was *two years ago* 🙈 I really need Time to chill out and cool its jets a little bit. This was such an entertaining vlog, even though 90% of it was just filmed in one room. A delight as always!
I've lately started to really value a short walk every now and then, even when its cold and mainly for the fresh air. Must have been good to have been finally let free after the ten days ! And having company for that time would def make it easier to handle
I know this is all a romanticized version of your life, but it honestly helps me so much. Because I struggle a lot of times to see the positive little things and your videos keep me appreciating just walking in sunny weather outside or having a nice coffee by myself, those little things I sometimes need to be reminded of when I am caught up in pessimistic thought patterns. Thank u honestly.

I did the 2 weeks in Seoul in a tiny apartment as well. My boss said everything was set up and when I arrived there was no toilet paper, only frozen food without a pan, pot, microwave or even a kettle 😂. Also it was beginning of March so still cold, but they turned my gas off and they couldn’t turn it on until I finished quarantine. They sent me a microwave, a kettle and toilet paper the next day, so I had to use the kettle for a warm bath 😂.
No!!!! We were really scared that our pipes would be frozen when we got back (they froze last year) but we were lucky 🥲 hope you never have to relive something like that!!

For you to find the motivation to still pick up the camera and vlog is really great to see so I thank you for that. It was really funny hearing about your friend who didn't use their phone all day and then got a call, because something very similar happened to me: I was incredibly jet lagged when I arrived, so on my first day I just slept non stop; suddenly I got woken up by this loud, head ache worthy alarm from my phone telling me I hadn't moved in so and so many hours and that an officer had been informed. Luckily I didn't get a call and no one came by so I guess everything was fine, but right when it happened I was pretty shocked haha. It's reassuring to know that this has happened to other people, too. Have a great day and warm greetings from Germany ✨

My mom used to knit and crochet for high-end boutiques and it's still the wildest thing to me that people can DO this, it's the coolest thing, I always feel like my brain can't wrap itself around the patterns
the pattern for the hood thing i made a wild (an old pattern from the 70s) so its sort of a franken-pattern of a bunch of different ones LOL but yeah people who can make sense of all that are amazing hahah

@@caricakes Spanish is my native tongue, so thank GOD I was able to acclimate fast to the markers because of it (I also just love pronouncing them out loud because it's so fun to hear my cute Swedish accent now lmaooo), but you learning Korean is something to bow down to because learning a whole new alphabet is SCARY to me
i quarantined for a full 14 days in a gov facility because i wasn't allowed to stay with my bf (who stayed with his mom who lived there) but i'd done my research and knew that ahead of going to korea. i went in the summer though, so i'm not sure what else has changed for how COVID is handled or how many others are vaccinated. when i was there, vaccinations weren't being given out to anyone besides the elderly but in the states i'd already gotten by second dose. i always enjoy watching videos of places i'd visited, i like seeing how things continue/change

There’s this German UA-camr couple (she’s like the name of the channel and he does all the editing and also appears in the videos quite regularly) and they recently had a child and they never show him or even tell his name (which I find good, keeping his privacy) and sometimes they talk about him as their “(weird) little roommate”🥺 like “we had to keep the plants safe because our weird roommate keeps pulling the leaves” so cute🤧🥺

My quarantine time was so tedious. I just moved to Paris and start to living alone but I need to quarantine for 7 days and it really drove me crazy. I also watched War of the worlds recently! Love love love disasters movies. About quarantine, I did mine in Canada around New Years and we were supposed to have someone call once a day to check in as well but that didn't happen! A big difference is that we had to swab ourselves at home with supervision from a nurse via videocall for COVID testing. Then we put out our tests to be picked up by a delivery company. I guess everyone was too busy checking on travelers at that time.

Hello from Australia! I'm currently in quarantine too with a housemate who has COVID. I will likely get it too in the next few days :/ Here in Melbourne we don't get any contact, we just get a text message to our phone outlining the rules we have to follow and when we have to get our follow up tests. It's a lot of 'honour code' here but you can get into a lot of trouble if you break your quarantine. i'm really glad your video went up because it's perfect timing really!

I did a 14 day quarantine last August, in Mapu-gu, I didn't get any phone calls though, I heard that only the iphone version of the app tracks your movement, and I heard about jetlagged people taking naps during the day and being woken up by concerned phone calls haha. I just listened to a lot of audiobooks and watched a lot of Netlflix during my quarantine, lol. Really laughed that you called your husband your wierd roommate too haha
the iphone app only tracked me when i had the app open but we were allowed to close the app so idk LOL but im glad you got through it!!! and yeah, very glad i didnt have my naps interrupted cause i took a lot of great ones.

I also watched War of the worlds recently! Love love love disasters movies. About quarantine, I did mine in Canada around New Years and we were supposed to have someone call once a day to check in as well but that didn't happen! A big difference is that we had to swab ourselves at home with supervision from a nurse via videocall for COVID testing. Then we put out our tests to be picked up by a delivery company. I guess everyone was too busy checking on travelers at that time.

surprising. I've lived in the UK for 2 years and I'm Korean, but I don't like Korea's quarantine rules. In the case of Korea, it is too complicated and strict. you are so awesome I support your blog.

Hello from Australia! I'm currently in quarantine too with a housemate who has COVID. I will likely get it too in the next few days :/
Here in Melbourne we don't get any contact, we just get a text message to our phone outlining the rules we have to follow and when we have to get our follow up tests. It's a lot of 'honour code' here but you can get into a lot of trouble if you break your quarantine.

I did a 14 day quarantine last August, in Mapu-gu, I didn't get any phone calls though, I heard that only the iphone version of the app tracks your movement, and I heard about jetlagged people taking naps during the day and being woken up by concerned phone calls haha. I just listened to a lot of audiobooks and watched a lot of Netlflix during my quarantine, lol. Really laughed that you called your husband your wierd roommate too haha
the iphone app only tracked me when i had the app open but we were allowed to close the app so idk LOL but im glad you got through it!!! and yeah, very glad i didnt have my naps interrupted cause i took a lot of great ones.
