Bissell 9400 05321C Proheat 2x won't spray fix

  • So, as others have said, the water reservoir on these gums up with calcification and makes them not spray any more. The prior video said the heater was in the handle housing... if only... The heater in this unit (05321C) is under the water reservoir and thus much more difficult to get to. Hopefully, this will help if you start experiencing the same problem as this is an expensive unit and not something replaced on a whim... If you figure out a way to mitigate the calcification, please let me know.

We've had our 9400-5 for about 4 or 5 years, which places it about 2010 that we bought it. Our difficulty is HARD WATER. Thank you for uploading this video, it got me to take ours apart and I DID HAVE TO CLEAN THE HEATER. This is an additional, but relatively simple step(s). There are channels going back and forth inside it, and the hard water had formed calcified deposits inside it that was blocking the flow. DON'T lose the red O-rings inside it!
Other than that, I think you might have focused a little more on the steps of getting the 10+ screws up that hold down the flat panel you called the deck.
    Good job!

After completing all of this....I should have cleaned the tips (the spray openings were clog). However, I did find plenty of build up inside the heater.
Thanks so much because it is working like a new machine.

    Ray,
I have the same model and found that:
    1. The boiler screws take a lot of torque to remove.
    2. After cleaning the boiler and reassembling it, it still didn't work.
    A. I found the red speakers near the front of the unit (2 of them) were clogged.
    B. A couple of my tubes also had crud in them - which I had to clean out by pushing a Q-tip through them.
    3. I found I only needed to disconnect 2 of the tubes to get access to everything under the deck. I did unscrew all the screws to the deck and just canned it up like the hood on a car and kept it up with a bungee chord.
Overall it took me 6 hours to do.
Unit now works like a charm.
    Thanks for posting.

We have the 9500 model and it looks very similar. Hopefully with the help of this video we can solve the same problem. You'd think Bissell would recognize they have a design flaw and wake the f up !

My Solenoid for letting the spay go to the floor was plugged. I Pried the electrical part off (pry gently under the metal and the base of the valve. That will pop it off of the plastic retaining tabs and you can then pull the electrical part off) then soak the valve in hot water for a few hours. I made a test lead with a Male 110 plug and wire and female spade connectors to fit on the solenoid. I kept adding hot water every time the water cooled. I then put the solenoid back together and put a hose on one side. I plugged the cord in making sure the spade connectors are not touching anything like me and blew through the hose and it cleared the plug. That repaired my problem

I had the same problem with my Bissell floor cleaner. The water heater system was partially clogged. I put white vinegar in the water tank and flushed the system twice, then rinsed it with water. Everything is spraying great now and I cleanout the water heating system after every use.

Would it help to run some vinegar through the lines after use but before storage? That would help with hard water.

This was great for my problem even though not quite the same model - I have a 8930 but the heater core was in the same place - took a pic of the heater core before I took it apart - heater core was full of hard water sediment - poured some vinegar in it and let it set for a bit and scraped out the sediment - now it works again

I have a bissell proheat 2x model 9500 had same problem spot shooter and wand attachments would not spray.I cleaned out deposits from heater core and all sprayers now work like new another thing I would like to add I always completely rinse out both cleaner tank and 2in1 tank with hot water then fill both tanks with only hot water and run through the machine. This will prevent soap from gumming up in valves tubing and heater core.Overall its not a bad machine if you keep it clean.Hope this works.

Thank you very much for this video. I followed your instructions to a T. My Bissel model 9300 now works like a charm. It was not very difficult to do. I will try not use the heater as it was full of sediments when I opened it. This appear to be the core of the problem as the sediments goes through the line and blocked them. Thanks again.

#1. Thanks for the video cantaberry. I've got a similar model 8920 which has been a maintenance nightmare. I took pictures of everything before dismantling the whole thing which I've done on numerous items and it always worked well. This time my camera freaking died and screwed up all the pictures so I was left to figure how everything went back together. Now I've got it all back together and the heater stays on continuously and it won't suck up the water although the hand tool works fine.

I had the same problem with my Bissell Pro Heat 2 floor cleaner, but I could get some water to spray (just a trickle). I flushed the water system with white vinegar (two tanks full) then rinsed with pure water. Now my Bissell sprays like new. I clean the water system with white vinegar after every use. If your spray system is not 100% clogged, you can dissolve the calcium buildup by flushing with white vinegar. hope this helps

PS: watch out for the little washers in the boiler they like to play hide and seek.

Can someone share with my the tubing diagram? I have a model 9500 which is similar but had a flow control indicator. I think I may be able to make sense out of another model. Appreciate any help, not sure where the tubing from top of pump goes, where the tubing from under the water heater goes, what two tubes go into the short air duct. Thanks for any help with getting my working again. I have already cleared out the heater and it was clogged so think if I get the tubing correct it will be working again.

  • @DougPlucker
    @DougPlucker 9 років тому +1

Not familiar with the model being discussed in the video, but in the worst case of heater clogging, couldn't you just bypass the heater? The water wouldn't be heated, but you could still use the machine rather than tossing it. I have a Bissell 1692 from 2009, 6 years now, and working fine.Preventative maintenance is the key to longevity, empy tanks when done using, run some clean water thru the system to wash out the cleaning solution, keep spraying so that the pump can empty out all of the solution hoses. If you have hard water use some washing soda in the water. (Hard water contains calcium and magnesium ions. The carbonate ions from washing soda produce a chemical reaction and remove the calcium and magnesium from the water).

I've already had mine apart and cleaned my hoses all out, took off the electric valve and soaked the bottom end in vinegar which cleaned that baby out big time, I then cleaned and put back together everything. It still doesn't work however. So I guess I have to take er apart again and soak the heater core. Which probably got lime scale built up in it from our water. Does that sound correct?

Just use distilled water and dilute the cleaning solution in the cleaning tank by adding 1 full cup (8oz) of very hot water. Use distilled water and distilled white vinegar to clean it once in a while then flush out the vinegar with more distilled water to keep the inside hoses, heater, pump, and solenoid valves clean and working. And clean any filters too. Also, clean the spray nozzles by popping them out of the base and taking the hose clamp and hose off the vinyl plastic hose and then take a paper clip and clean out the spray nozzle. rise the spay nozzle with distilled white vinegar to remove any mineral deposit clogged.
Did you take the heater core apart and clean it or replace it with a new one. They sell for about $25 from what I found.

Read your owners manual and it tells you how to rinse out the unit with straight water after you are done with it. There is a switch setting that says rinse on it. It's the solution building up from not rinsing after each use that causes the problem, not your water.

    • @Moveon10001
      @Moveon10001 3 роки тому

I think it could be both. Some is from the cleaning solution drying out inside the heater core and clogging it up. But some of it's due to calcium build up inside the heater core due to hard water.

I took mine out and wasn't able to blow air through them so I knew they were clogged. I just put my mouth on it and blew. That's what she said. I got a small nail to unclog it and then i was able to blow air through it with no problem so it worked.
Take note: this only worked for about an hour before the piece of shit quit spraying again. Now I think I'll take the heater core apart.

Hi. So the heater core was fine, gaskets are fine and I've checked everything. Pumps work. The only time I can get it to spray consistently is in rinse mode. Any other mode with soap and it works for about 10 seconds. Even re-priming only makes it work for about 5 -10 seconds. Once I turn it off and back on to prime and put it in rinse mode, no problem. Ideas? I'm thinking that the adjusting valve has become faulty.

I've only used this thing three times and I've had to replace the main computer board and sprayer pump. The sprayer nozzles get clogged all the time. I can't imagine a person buying this thing and having little knowledge on how to fix it. It needs to go to the fixit shop after every use.

Want to know how to not have this problem? Flush out the machine with water then drain all of the water out before storing it. If water stays in the heater it dries and forms the calcium and minerals from the hard water. After each use clean it out flush it remove all tanks soap and water plug machine in to power socket. Turn on power squeeze top trigger and attackment until all water is out of the machine.(without tanks in) Empty tanks of water and soap. Put empty tanks back on the machine un plug wrap up cord and there you go ready for storage

@@lakers4life024 Check the base solenoid and the microswitch. Mine sprays out the hose attachment but not near the roller brushes on the bottom of the unit. I checked the spray nozzles and cleaned them out. So they are not plugged up. And the hose to the attachment spray nozzle goes through the heater core on my unit (9200-H) so I know that the heater core is clean now. I put vinegar in the formula tank and it ran into the heater core and cleaned it out. I saw the dirty water coming out of the spray hose attachment. So I know that the heater core is clean now. At least I know it got some distilled white vinegar into the heater core and out through the hose attachment sprayer. So the microswitch may be faulty. I can test the switch voltages with my DVM and see if it's bad or not. I can also test the voltage going to the lower solenoid valve and see if it's getting the proper 110 volts to it. I just found the repair manual online as one of the other guys in this discussion posted a link to the repair manual for us. The repair manual has a troubleshooting guide you can read before tearing the unit apart.
I found the repair manual and it's a great tool to use. It shows the wiring diagram and the hose diagram and even tells how long the hoses are. The only thing I need is the inside and outside and wall thickness and type of material that the hoses are made out of. So I don't have to pay a fortune for the hoses. If I can find them locally I can make new ones myself

jc.,I doubt that, I've always used the Bissell cleaner, and here i am, mine is not spraying also, I do have hard water too, but I'm thinking these are poorly designed.

Here’s a picture of how clogged up my heater core was when I pulled it:
    drive.google.com/file/d/14nV28NMGhx62PyQfl5xQpIpUWw9l7YkD
How about disconnecting the heater core and just bypass it? Never turn it on again. Use the existing water supply line and re-route it. That’s what I did. And I put a piece of tape over the switch so I know not to turn it on ever again.

Good idea. You can even disconnect the switch for the heater if you want to. Your heater core was full of gunk and really plugged up. Did you even try to take it out and clean it with vinegar and or very hot water to remove the hardened soap residue in there?

Yes I did but the rubber seal was broken and the metal had a crack in it from being so corroded. Just a big mess. So I decided to bypass it and forget about it. Thanks for replying

Take a pair of vice grips and attach them to the head of the screw and then give it a quick twist counterclockwise to break the screw loose. If that doesn't work then put some penetrating oil on the screw and let it soak in overnight. The next day try to remove the screw again. If that does not work try using an impact screw driver on the stuck screws.

This machine is a piece of cfrap. I've had it with it. It's been too long for the warranty. What a waste of money. I'll never buy a Bissell again.

I don't know... I have to agree. I had a ton of issues with this machine. For the price, I'd call it a POC. :)

@@sh19748 Thanks Steve. Everyone should download this "bissell-proheat-2x-repair-guide.pdf" document and save it on their computer. (google it without the " ") It has a troubleshooting guide and then there are diagrams of all the electrical wiring and one for the water hoses too. A great thing to have if you are wanting to try to repair the Bissell ProHeat 2X machine.

Don't listen to this guy he doesn't know wat he's Talking about you can call bissell and they will repair it for free on all 2x carpet cleaners that don't spray from the bottom.. The hoses have to be tucked by the solenoid. He also has red spray tips they made them bigger and white.

When I call Bissell, they tell me I have to pay myself to have it repaired. Robert, who should I talk to about getting it fixed for free? I'm afraid to take this apart myself...
