I honestly love everything about Arnold. His weight lifting training, his movies, his interviews. He's really a fun guy to watch. Seriously one of the greatest actors of all time
Lol at the bit about him being one of the greatest actors of all time :) one of the most successful/famous maybe but seriously his acting has always been dreadful, we watch arnie movies to see him kicking ass luckily so his acting never had to be very good :)
Stephen Martell totally agree man! as an action star he is the greatest without a shadow of a doubt! the guy is a living legend and an incredible role model too
And one of the best things: he never tried to be/play someone else, someone he just isn't. He always did, what he is best at and what people love about him!
I saw on imdb that he is going to be making new avatar movies. About 5 within the next 10 years. With each movie coming out within 2 years from one another. Cant wait to see that ruined
To be fair, the first two were directed by Cameron, but the rest weren't. The mistake was letting a different production company take over a successful franchise only to make it worse each movie
There was also another boy, in a small austrian town, who thought he was special and made for bigger things. But that didn't went so well and I'm glad Arnold took a different path.
It's funny how Arnold is one of the most distinct actors ever, but he also fits into every type of movie you could think of. Comedy? Arnold. Horror? Arnold. Porn? Arnold.
***** I know Schwarzenegger was the governer, but why is that detrimental for someone's image. plz stop hating on people fanboying/fangirling on actors, okay?
'I'll be back' in the first Terminator (in my opinion), is one of the all time best Hollywood one liners. A short history of 'I'll be back' - In an earlier Arnie movie, I think it might be Commando, Arnie says - 'I'll be back later'. In another much earlier movie, made over 45 years before Terminator was offered for release, the one liner 'I'll be back' was uttered by actress Vivian Leigh as she left the wounded Southern soldiers in the hospital scene of Gone With The Wind. I have seen Gone With The Wind several times over the years but only noticed this one liner for the first time while watching it a few weeks ago. Funny how you can watch a good movie several times and still spot something previously not noticed. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment. Arnie S. and Clint E. have so many great one liners! Must have fantastic script writers.
I'm from Austria. When you would have told his story before, everyone would have laughed at you. It would have been even too not-authentic for a B-movie! Now look at that man and what he achieved! Just enviable! Looking forward to see him and Sly in Escape Plan next week! I'm so glad they both continue to make these good old action movies! Part of my childhood and still are!
No body is ever going to be perfect. Nobody is ever going to be liked or respected by everyone NO MATTER what they do or do Not do. But I have long respected and liked Arnold for his Integrity, above all else, then his energy, and momentum. He practices what he believes, and knows the power, and value of commitment and dedication to those beliefs. I also sense he knows the value of gratitude and giving back to the source of ones sustainance. Arnie may be a lot of things, but he isn't stupid.
Fair enough. It certainly has mellowed out a lot since the 70s; check out a clip from Hercules In New York or Pumping Iron to see how he sounded then. By the 90s he'd settled into the voice he has now - he'd already been making movies for nearly 20 years by that point.
What makes Arnold even more momerable is his English ascent...so many people tried to immitate & impersonate his style but only a very few could do it well. He's such a person you'd love to watch even in interviews..
Very true. He's one of the few foreign Americans to have a thick accent but also speak English very clearly. Of course, it took lots of practice, but not everyone settling can do it, especially if their previous country never taught English.
That line originated from the 1949 gangster movie White Heat with James Cagney and Virginia Mayo. This was one of the best gangster movies of that time.
Respect for Arnold, he grew up in a tiny village with no electricity, no running water and no luxuries of any kind, then migrated to the USA and found a niche in bodybuilding and hollywood movies. A true "rags to riches" story. For 65 he's still looking good, I can't wait to see his new movies.
To a native speaker, I think this sounds more threatening. "I will be back," sounds like an academic or librarian, typically the type of person who would not normally be thought of as menacing.
as a film maker and actor myself, my opinion is that "I'll be back" is a little more too the point. The terminators lines had to be very quick and short and powerful. Out of a 4 worded sentence, "will" is 25% of the sentence. So shorting it by one word is a lot, and one could argue "I'll be back" is more meaningful and powerful.
Man, Arnold should have just stuck to acting. He could have given us a couple more awesome action movies before he became really old. He still looked a little young when he first became the governator.
Ya I agree that he hit the wall during his time in office, but that might've happened anyway, and he ran in part because his movie career was already going down.
Zachary Wheeler but him being governor for 8 years makes him more legendary, plus people who say "he is just a body and an actor" can't say shit, he gave something back to the country that raised him.
Sounds like he can be a troublemaker on set, but I admire Arnie's determination. He takes his work seriously and isn't afraid to challenge the director.
“I will be back” does make sense for a robot but at the same time the T-800s are infiltration terminator models, they need to follow human speech behaviour to stay unsuspected so “I’ll be back” makes sense as well. It’s like the Inglorious Basterds bar scene where someone pick up a spy from subtle communication habits.
OMG, I laughed a lot!! People asking him to say the line, LOL! That reminds me of Bart Simpson's line: I didn't do it. People just wanted to hear that line. The same thing happened to Arnold!!
Arnold is just an exception in acting, he is actually really good, but like Dwayne Johnson just automatically sucks in every movie cause he is a wrestler AND an actor, you can't do fucking both, but arnold is just good in his movie, and yes he was governer of California and yeah he was bodybuilder but he is just a guy who can do anything. In one phrase: Arnold is NOT a fucking douche, he is awesome, keep going on arnold

Saw Arnie riding a bike in Santa Monica yesterday morning. I yelled at him from my car "I'll be back!!" and he replied "I hope so." I wanted to say "Get your ass to Mawz!" but I don't think that would have gone over as well.
I read his book, " the Education of a bodybuilder", years ago. Was 1st in line for his movies. Admired his Coming to America Story. But in the last few years, I refer to him as the perfect " HAd it all, but wasnt enough". An Affair with the maid, fathering a child with the hired help, while married. My opinion of him has changed, To the negative.

hell yeah
Anyone who wouldn't vote hates their country!
he can't be, you have to be born in the US.
Arnold was born in Germany so that’s impossible unfortunately.

But he has the same goal, harharhar...

There's the reason they say you don't want to meet an angry austrian artist. They can cause very big problems.
