Great review! Thank you! One thing to add.... I dont think you covered it but if you did and I just missed it, my apologies. The on board solar panels serve two functions and the brightness adjustment. Brightness can be set manually or be adjusted, as Holosun puts it, in "auto" mode, which is where the secondary function of the solar panels comes in, as a light "sensor" of such. Much like your cell phone's brightness, in auto mode, the reticle brightness can adjust on it's own depending on the brightness of ambient light. This is a great feature! Probably most useful in a transitional scenario where you are transitioning from outside into a building to clear it and then outside again. That's pretty cool!

Love Holosun optics. Work the best with my astigmatism with the circle and dot on at the same time. I've been looking for something for my Stribog and this looks like it!
@@pewpew9193for me the Holoson AEMS looked a lot better with a more crisp reticle than the handful of Eotech models with both red and green reticles that I compared it to and I was using the AEMS with a red reticle. I wasn’t able to compare the AEMS with the green reticle and green is usually better for astigmatism but idk how it could get any better than the red it was so crisp. I was very surprised by how much better it looked than more expensive optics I compared it to. I compared it to the Sig Sauer Romeo 4T and 4XT Pro, Holosun 403, Holoson 510C, Vortex AMG UH-1 and AMG UH-1 Gen II. The holosun Holosun AEMS looked the best second best was the Sig Sauer Romeo 4XT Pro. However that might not be the case for others I recommend comparing as many options as you can before deciding what you want.
Great video. I was considering another Mepro 21 for a 9mm carbine I just bought, but I think I'm going to try the AEMS. My first Holosun was a 403C I installed on a Galil Ace pistol in 7.62X39, figuring if it didn't rattle apart on that, they were build pretty well. It's been installed for 6 years and has held up to several thousand rounds, with no issues. It's just a range toy, but seeing your reviews on other Holosun models, I'm planning on going with their more rugged products for a couple of firearms. It's nice to know they don't just fall in the "good for the money" category. After seeing your reviews, I'm now torn between the 508T and 509T for my new Glock 19 Gen5 MOS. It may just come down to which I can find the optic and a mounting plate for at the same time.
Thanks for your thoughtful review. It really helped with my decision. Recently purchased an AEMS green dot and a ADM Mount and couldn't be happier. Very effective optic. Can't wait for primary arms to put an ACSS reticle in it with BDC dots and it will have me getting another one. At Shotshow this year they had 3 different sizes in the AMES. DEFINITELY SUBSCRIBED!
Great review as usual. I'm signed up for video updates and have setting set to ALL but never get updates from you. Might want to check into that. I'm buying this optic asap after watching this one! The field of view and solar is outstanding!

If that's a deal-breaker for you, I'd suggest you look at Holosun's very similar 512 model, which features a toolless, quick detach style battery door.
Maybe someone already Mentioned it, but in my opinion that "sacrificial" lenses are more for quickly clearing main lenses from dirt or obstructions. For example u dropped ur rifle in mud and instead of watering lenses down and such, simply flip down outer lenses. Just like in F1 they peal of layers of plastic protector from helmet.

Sweet, the shop I work at placed an order for them when they were announced publicly, I saw it on the ‘gram, asked our buyer about them and he called and placed an order as soon as I asked him, I think I’m gonna put one on my 11.5” SBR to replace the 503CU because I like the size and the square objective. I’ve been buying and using HoloSun’s for like 10 years or so I think??? All of them with a quick release lever and a solar panel but with a battery it works all of the time inside and outside of buildings, deep mountain canyons, caves, mines, snow / rain and most of all at night. I’ve had nothing but excellent service from all of mine without any problems from use on 22’s to 308/ 44 Mag level gun. I would definitely recommend them and I would not recommend one without a battery. They are making a new one with out a battery at all that is supposed to hold a change from the sun for 72 hours, I’ve guns in lock boxes for years- no kidding- and they still run perfectly night or daytime. I still run back up iron sites on all of my carbines because I have been shot at from like 800 to 900 years were I really wanted to be able to return fire and a back up iron can make those shots happen. Have a good one and have equipment that can do the job if you feel the need for it.

Great review.. I know you did the Holosun 515 but I would love it if you could review the Holosun 530. Larger window... I'd like to know if it's as good or better than the MRO. I know it's a little bit larger but it seems like a good one to review. It is too bad they didn't put the T2 style baseplate on it like most of their rifle optics. Probably why I never looked into the 512 because it sits too low.
Holosun had a few products at first with some major quality issues. I was absolutely shocked that they took those issues and fixed them and now are the best bang for the buck for all red dot types.
Looks like a good match for a Flux Raider, though I'm iffy about the mount height, here's hoping they release low mounts for them (they ran some "custom" low mounts in Orlando, as seen on the TFB TV vid earlier this week).
Honestly they will probably send it out with a system like the aimpoint t1/2 where you just swap the bottom to swap between heights. Dude mentioned that in the tfbtv video too
hopefully people make mounts for it as it'd be awesome on a unity mounty or higher mounts. It would also be dope as an offset so someone making a plate for that would be welcome as well.
I really enjoy these videos. I'm not a huge optic guy, I normally stick to irons for most things. But the amount of depth and information in these videos is extremely helpful as I slowly get my feet wet in the optics world. Keep up the good work. 👍
Its great that you can use irons, but a red dot is a huge leap in capability and ease of use. Its stupidly fast and easy to use, even for inexperienced shooters. There's really no reason to not use a red dot on a modern defensive rifle or handgun. For example, I can still get hits without getting a good cheek weld and without getting centered on the gun. As long as I can see the dot somewhere in the window and put that dot on the target, I will get a hit. You can't do that with iron sights. If I was shooting in an awkward position that prevented me from getting directly behind the gun, I can still make hits.
@@oldscratch3535 those are all great points that you make. I’m not completely sold on them just yet for two main reasons: 1. The cost. Good red dots aren’t really cheap. I have a few less expensive ones that I’m playing with, just to get my feet wet, but dropping the price of a Glock just to get an RMR for an EDC gun just doesn’t quite compute in my brain. 2. It’s an electronic device that can fail. I have this mental roadblock of not wanting to become dependent on a dot, in the event that it fails. I know most set ups have irons as a back up, it still just bothers me that in the heat of the moment, my brain could be looking for a dot that’s not there. This is probably just a training issue. One of these days when I start spending more time behind the wheel of the few that I have, I probably will be more willing to spend the money for a good one, and become a little more reliant on them. I’m just not quite ready yet to dive in full force.
@@MoRoTheGKnight most of them are tougher than your irons. And you can always have buis. Holosuns are cheap. Your are behind about 20 years as far as rifles go. For pistols you are missing out on the best advancement in decades. Take the leap
@@narutobroken Definitely. He always goes through the condition of it, even if it's cracked or delaminated, because sometimes it's still usable even if there is damage.
@@JAREDGRAF8181 I have talked to some more experienced people in the meantime: The parallax seems bad on short distances, like it moves about 1cm off POI on 1m distance to target. However, this doesn't scale at all, so at 100m distance it's definitely not 100cm off target, it's MUCH less thankfully, maybe like 2cm off target. So when they advertise it as "parallax free", it's bs, but when they write "stays within 2 MOA", that is true for longer distances, it only exceeds that 2MOA parallax at very short distances where it really doesn't matter too much. I tried mine, just looking out the window across the street (not mounted on a gun of course) and the parallax is totally fine. So try yours at short distances and compare it to longer distances, you should see a difference
It looks like your front cap cover is cracked as well. I just picked mine up and simply pulled the cover down and noticed it cracked at the corner as well. Def a weak spot here. Holosun did send me new T6 Torx screws and replacement covers. Not sure if everyone can get them but they do exist and I’m sure will be available for purchase later down the road.
This is the first Holo I would consider ... However, I think you went a bit light on the torture testing. As many have posted, you are the guru regarding the 'dot- sighting systems' enjoyed it.
Bought this optic after this review and the center dot failed before 200 rounds. I warrantied it so I hope the second one is better. I really wanted to like it.
As for why Holosun introduced this optic: previously they didn’t offer an enclosed reflex-format sight that was lower 1/3rd mountable. I believe it’s also a smaller footprint than some of their comparable existing offerings, for rail space considerations.

Appreciate your expertise. Thank you.
Good stuff as always. It's hard to fight off the urge to dismiss these Chinese optics when they keep putting out such quality stuff.
Ikr? I love holosun. They've been going crazy with their releases and beating out the competition.
ANOTHER excellent review.
Great review man!
I'm totally buying this one after this review.
Thanks for the review.
Outstanding Aaron!
Those drops looked brutal. More than a reasonable test.
I’m not completely sold on them just yet for two main reasons:
You can fit the AEMS and a EOtech magnifier like a G43 in tandem on 1 unity riser to get more height for an AR
Holosun with another W 🔥🔥
ADM and Unity Tactical have solved all of our AEMS mounting issues now!! 😊
I'm impressed. I was always told heat and vibration are a destroyer of LEDs
I thought at 0:24 I saw a sneak peak at a broken front lense. Lol I thought to myself, "Well it didn't get through intact, but must still be usable."
He would have mentioned it if it did right?
@@narutobroken Definitely. He always goes through the condition of it, even if it's cracked or delaminated, because sometimes it's still usable even if there is damage.
Good review bro!
I am a huge fan of the apc line myself smooth as glass
Would love to see you make a live list (like 9hole reviews) where you rank optics and which is currently “best” or separately “best for the money”
Check on the Sage Dynamics website. He keeps a paper with details on all of his testing.
@@ruangermishuys6127 thank you sir!
Would be interested to see how this stacks up with the parallax testing you did a while back that exposed the MRO.
I just bought an AEMS and I must say the parallax is appalling.
@@Chretze that bad?
@@JAREDGRAF8181 I have talked to some more experienced people in the meantime:
The parallax seems bad on short distances, like it moves about 1cm off POI on 1m distance to target.
@@Chretze Thanks for the info!
@@Chretze Aaron didn’t mention anything about that on here?
Great as always thank you
Holosun nailed it, AGAIN!!!
Looking forward to the Aimpoint P2 review.
Just shipped my 507c in for warranty work. Plus button quit working. Hopefully they offer me an upgrade option 🤞
Weird how he forgot to mention that isn't it??
You got the third one! Nice!
This is the first Holo I would consider ... However, I think you went a bit light on the torture testing. As many have posted, you are the guru regarding the 'dot- sighting systems' enjoyed it.
What's up with not speaking to the cracked glass at :24 (and many other portions of the video) or is that just the sac lens that cracked like that?
Bought this optic after this review and the center dot failed before 200 rounds. I warrantied it so I hope the second one is better. I really wanted to like it.
Waiting for this to pair up with also upcoming HMX3T.
As for why Holosun introduced this optic: previously they didn’t offer an enclosed reflex-format sight that was lower 1/3rd mountable. I believe it’s also a smaller footprint than some of their comparable existing offerings, for rail space considerations.
