    I love heel pivots. I been doing these for about 3 weeks but never knew what they were called. Thanks Katie for educating me in the finer arts of roller skating! I love you and your channel so much. Beautifully choreographed and very well explained. ❤🛼🛼🫶🏻

    Hi! With the heel pivot, am I putting most of the pressure on the hell of the leg that forms the pivot or on the leg that’s going around the circle? Thanks ☺️

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 роки тому

      Hi, most of the weight needs to be on the foot going around the outside so the one doing the inside edge. Think of around a 70:30 / 80:20 split of weight between the two feet.

    When I try this spin, the toe stops eventually come loose because the move twists them off. Any advice on that? And also, what about doing this move without toe stops in the skates?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 роки тому

      Do you have the toe stops with a large nut to hold it on? These are known for coming loose. Make sure you put all your body weight behind the spanner when tightening the nut. Yes you can do it without a toe stop too. You’d have to anchor yourself with the front two wheels instead.

    Hi!
    I have been interested in learning to rollerskate for a while and I have finally decided to give it a go! I recently got a pair of Rio roller skates for my birthday and I'm looking forward to start my rollerskating journey, I have worn them a couple of times and it's proving to be very difficult 😆 but your videos have made everything so much clearer and I can't wait to get them on again!
    Have you got any tips for places to learn to rollerskate? I think parks and promanades are a good option but it can be difficult when there is lots of people arround and it can feel a little embarrassing 😂
    How long did it take you to learn to skate? ☺️

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 роки тому

      Finding somewhere good to practice is often very difficult. If you’ve got wood flooring inside it’s often good to start inside as the outside has extra obstacles likes stones etc to make life harder. Lots of people use tennis courts. I can’t remember learning to skate. I think I learnt so young it’s just something I’ve always been able to do. I love it so much the feeling of freedom skating gives me. I hope you enjoy your journey and your Rio rollers x

    So i was trying the 1st one and it hurt my toe. Does it have anything to do with my skates being a lil too small?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  Рік тому

      Could be. These types of moves can cause the foot to slip forwards in the boot and hit the end.

    Hi! I was just wondering do you need to use toe guards when practicing skating on the streets? Btw your videos really help me :)

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 роки тому

      Thank you. I’ve never worn toe guards but it’s totally a choice. If you find you’re scuffing your toes a lot then it might be a good idea.

    Hi there, which skates are you using for these moves? I'm thinking of getting myself a pair and not sure which to get ?! haven;'t skated properly for a few years just getting back into it again with my daughter (she's a newbie) 😊

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. A great beginner skate is the rookie artistic, look for adjustable toe stops, and metal trucks. Don’t forget your helmet and pads too. Stay safe and have fun xx

    When I'm trying to do heel pivot, I just lose all momentum and stop. I can't keep turning 😪😪 I don't know what am I doing wrong. Is it me? Is it the wheels of my skate or the ground?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  Рік тому +1

      You do need a bit of speed going into it to keep a good roll going. Really press on that inside edge that will help the foot dig in and keep momentum you can always pump the foot slightly to gain more speed like a bubble action.

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 роки тому

      The ones with the toe stop are Risport dance boots with a roll-line dance plate and Powell bones 101A wheels the ones without the toe stops are a Risport Cristallo boots on a Atlas plate with Boiani star 80D wheels. They’re both figure skates. A great beginner skate is the rookie artistic or the Chaya Melrose elite.
