Yes, many of us have Spanish blood because of the conquest but it’s not the same as whites in the U.S., so again, I don’t understand his point. The sad part is that our people have been colonized twice, first by the conquistadors and then by this country. To the point that many Latinos check the “white” box on certain documents when we are asked what “race” we are when in reality Chicanos/Latinos should be checking the Native American box as race and then Chicano/Latino as our “ethnicity.” Similar to the Black diaspora our people also have been ripped away from our indigenous ancestry and homeland which is why many of us can’t trace our lineage back to a specific indigenous tribe throughout the Americas. The same goes for Blacks who can’t trace what specific tribe they are from in Africa. And it’s all due to the colonization of both peoples (blacks and Latinos). So again, I ask what is the point in stating “we have white in us?” This is the kind of masa that gives ammunition to whites and blacks to question our history and culture. Idk maybe Bozo grew up with a gabacho step parent or something that told him he was white. Or maybe he’s talking about white Cubans that left Cuba when Castro came to power. He seems like he's stuck in between 2 worlds and he doesn't want to admit to himself that he's part of the same problem he truthfully deep down wants to resolve yet doesn't have the temperament and emotional control that's required to truly resolve the NS/ SS issues. This a very common way of thought from people who want a resolution but only if it benefits their side more than the other side. He says "No disrespect" yet follows up with a disrespectful set of statements that aren't beneficial to any part of the issues he claims he would want to fix. Example, "No disrespect but the North only wants peace because (insert whatever justification to support your own personal reasons why you disagree)" How is this statement conducive to the advancement of our own people? How can one say you want our people to be at the same status as the powers that be, yet constantly look for excuses or reasons why we shouldn't be united? When you really want unity you'll find a resolve over your own personal pains and discomforts.
