    What's the point of the death penalty if he's going to be sat on death row for 35 years awaiting the result of appeal 648? Either do it within a few months, or just give life without parole. Millions of dollars are going to be pissed down the drain now.

    • @luvlyval587

      FL doesn't wait as long as other states. And they also don't require a unanimous vote, as seen in this case. If this crime had happened in another state, he would have received life which is not an appropriate punishment for him.

    • @Anactualfungus
      @Anactualfungus 3 дні тому

      Because Death Row inmates are twice as likely to be completely exonerated of any wrongdoing than lifers. Because police are corrupt and the public is impressionable, and will lower their standards of conviction or outright fabricate evidence in order to say that a heinous crime was "solved" and make themselves feel safe. Because even a benevolent government makes mistakes and should not be able to easily end someone's life. And I'm sure you don't think the government is benevolent so i don't know why yall throw out your anti-government beliefs when it involves the power of life and death?

    • @KraftyKreator
      @KraftyKreator 3 дні тому +39

      This is why the death penalty is so expensive. But, however, appeals are a necessary part of the judicial system. We have had far too many “oopsies” where we were posthumously realizing someone was innocent after execution. That’s a travesty. After all killing a person isn’t a small thing, it’s supposed to go all the way to the top, appeals are automatic if it’s a death penalty case. I’m not agreeing with the amount of time, just explaining why it can drag on, not excusing the length this is taking.

    that jury and his attorney who found him not guilty for kidnapping and assault - there's the problem right there earlier on. Too much legal protection for some one who's obviously had committed antisocial offenses and was released back into the wider community. Inadequate conscientious thought of the repercussions by the failing justice system for failing to provide prevention nor to keep his dangerous behavior away from the wider community. the justice system and enforcement knew of his antisocial behavior earlier on, they should not have allowed him so much access to the wider community after that kidnapping and assault. his movements should have been restricted with a tracking ankle monitor or such. if they did that a lot of his violence could have been prevented and those victims could have been living now. the jury, his attorney and enforcement had a duty to keep the wider community safe, they failed tragically. systemic failures of the justice system has lead to more tragic consequences.

    I've studied Psychology but I'm not an expert. When I heard about WW, what he did, his history and watched the court case, I was like "This man is troubled! There's clearly something not right with him".
    What I mean is that WW has led a very dysfunctional life. There's many things that he's done wrong in life which indicate there's something much bigger wrong with him. But what went wrong exactly? Was it his upbringing? Or something else? It's highly likely he has a mental disorder of some type which is co morbid with something else. He may have behavioural issues and a personality disorder as well. Only after proper observation and diagnosis can we say for certain what's wrong with him. It's possible he's received a definitive diagnosis at some point in life and was offered treatment in the past. Some folks with mental disorders do refuse to take their medication and attend treatment though. Maybe this is WW. And taking illegal substances on top of mental health issues, is a recipe for disaster!
    He may also have sustained a brain injury that caused extra pressure on his already fragile mental health. And I'm sure the prison medical staff picked up on all his mental health issues. People have said during his court case, WW was lacking in emotion...cold, he seemed amused at times and his eyes were soulless. It's possible he was taking medication for his mental health issues and possibly other health issues. And depending on what he's taking, this may be powerful medication. He looked dozy in court to me. Like he was ready for a nap. Then there's times when he seemed wired up. Maybe this is his personality, may be it's medication he might be on.
    There are no excuses for what he did. He committed serious crimes and had to face justice. It's just sad that this is the way his life turned out. He could have had a good life with his children...yet here we are. He's facing the DP. And 2 women lost their lives in the middle of his chaotic and dysfunctional life. Very tragic and very heartbreaking.

    Speaking as an alien, I can confirm that we were in fact out to get him...he's a slippery little bastard though, never were quite able to corner him.

    I didn't see this highlighted (scrolled down a fair bit) so I just have to commend the final line relating to the case.
    "Maybe he will finally get that hamburger. And fries" is a strong contender for best pun/wordplay in all the Dr. Grande that I've seen. Point me towards other all-timers; I'm here for it.
