Usually professional artists as Marc is can draw "academically" (it's on my native, idk how it called on English), meaning they studied anatomy very well. So what I mean is the fact professional artist uses preferred stylization doesn't mean they can't draw more realistic stuff, they just use daily their own style that they worked on for years.
To anyone looking for more stuff like this in regards to how to shade a face so that it looks aesthetically pleasing, I recommend watching makeup tutorials! How they contour and highlight is specifically to enhance parts if the face to make it look like "the ideal shape". So if you are going for a more realistic type of shading, that will help you get good fast.
This is incredibly skillful. I will be giving these steps a try. Mark I noticed that your classes went on sale. I wish I could sign up now, but I've got too much going on at the moment. Life is chaotic and expenses are very high currently. Regrettably itt will have to wait for a future opportunity. I'll keep practicing until then.
Id say thats probably a bad habit. If you practice proper proportions you wont have that issue. Try drawing traditionally with pencils so you cant use that as a crutch. It's pretty vital for an artist to be able to draw things in proportion from the get go. Proportions are probably more important than anything else, as they're the foundation for the entire piece. Layers are also an important tool for digital artists, and you'd handicap your art without them.
@sam simms kind of, yes, BUT, on the other hand it makes way easier to organize your file, and yet - those approach forces you to learn how to make right decisions in the first place
@@shroomyart true but on many drawing apps you can also organize your layers by either grouping them in a folder and name them or merge them together as well :D ! I do that a lot
@Amalia S several groups with several layers in each looks uncomfortable to me. Yet sometimes I have to use several layers for backgrounds, but not the face like in this video, it's just too much

They can draw completely without any construction from various angles and perspectives. It just comes with 10-20 years of experience. For anyone that feels it's mor comfortable to use guiding lines it's better to not skip them
if digital painters can answer my question! How do you determine which color to use for Shadows? whenever i choose a darker color it doesn't match and ends up looking SO wonky!
For the skin, pick a color that is slightly darker, and also a bit more saturated, closer to red. It varies with skin tones, but it's a good basic rule. For things other than skin, depends on the environment. Warm lights and cool shadows is also a general rule that makes it easier. It can help to get a reference image, take the color picker and examine the different shadow tones present.
While the portrait is gorgeous, I have a pet peeve about the nose. The head is slightly turned, but the nose is pointing straight at the viewer as if she looked at them straight. I've seen so many artists make that mistake it's becoming slightly annoying
I feel so stupid. I just realized ytartschool is marc...except using his @name. This while time I watched these shorts thinking the guy sounded familiar
I think it is really amazing and surprising how you use really dark colors in the beginning and you think it is going to be a black person. And then because of the shading she turns out to be white.

I love the way this loops perfectly XD
what!? I'm 5 hours in!
bro took _"make your drawings come to life"_ to a whole another level 💀
First time I ever watched him draw a portrait that doesn't look like 90% of his characters.
His video on drawing people of different ages features different faces as well, which isn't too far from when the original video was posted either

Next up: drawing female anatomy without increasing cup sizes.
Hi Marc! Love you bro. Thank you for the free classes ❤️

You're art is amazing
This is great Marc.
Happy birthday Marc
I literally NEEDED this 😭
How did you animate the portrait at the start?
im pretty sure its just a filter where you can overlay a picture on top of your face- which makes it look animated
Maybe with an AI? There's one of those for each thing nowadays 👴🏻
Filter
Or it could be Live 2D too
@@mcbedo6568 The quality isn't good enough for that.
this rlly helpsss thx
and the full video was even more helpful
Layers suck... because as I draw, I always use liquefy to improve proportions... and the layers just muck it all up. : /

this is very situational but a good start for beginners :)
I wish one day drawing like you ❤❤
I have started using fewer layers so that the process doesn’t take too long. Usually I use 4 layers in total for a portrait.
Interesting I might start doing that since I also make art videos 🤔
Awesome. Do you have any videos on drawing noses?
You make it looks easy 😢😢
Oo nice loop!
I love the way he said make up instead of facial features
Thank you so much sir
😂😂 the beginning with the girl “hmm?” That expression 😂
Thx man!
Every step on its own layer.. oh come on, man! It's so overwhelming. One layer for line, and another for the rest, that's more than enough
You’re making it harder for yourself if you only use two layers

So beautiful ❤️❤️
This is so usefull, just when i needed a litle help with that!
Nice to see marc painting someone else than elves
"Painting portraits is much easier with the right process."
"Start with head"
Damn bro i wish
I would really love to buy the art course but the PayPal installments payment option is only available for US residents💔
It's easy: Draw, paint, shade

Nice! What tool are you using to animate the face?
idk what tool exactly but i think its a tool that reads his face and the art does what he does
u probably already know that
Does this process work for painting In oil?
Every step on their own layer. I'm going to practice more. I get stuck on the rendering....
Can you please tell us how you did this animation ?
Why no one is talking about the background music? is so nostalgic! 😔
She literally came to life, lol
Nice loop
can you do arcane type of art style?
"Then add some Lighting"
That movement is default movement of Marc lol XD
Way I check to see if I made my portraits or characters correctly is u se a snap chat filtero n the. If the dog filter activates, success!
i dunno, even for professional artists its probably best not to skip the construction since you never know how wonky it's gonna turn out without one

@@ArtMontefidk. The angle of the nose seems slightly off to me. But then again, I'm kind of a perfectionist
If a coding tutorial video was a how to draw video
xD
Also love your vids❤
lol
Wow. Whatdya use for the animation part at the end?
how long did this piece take u? just curious
About an hour, kept it pretty rough
what app is used to make the drawing move/alive?
First step: structure the drawing well
I lost

"Keep each step on a different layer"
Me who paints everything on the same layer: 👍
I'll just do 3 or 4 layers 😅 , to much would drive me insane
How do i add colour on face without also getting it on hair or background 😭
Which brush did you use??? Plzz tell me
lol i never thought you will make a funny into for a short video.
Wait what how did you make her move I’m so confused. Is it rigged or motion cap or something?
Witchcraft
Probably an ai program for deepfakes
What programme are you using to achieve these effects??

the nose is facing towards the camera and the eyes aren't
