- Santa Clara Vanguard drumline running through some of their classic pre-show material. One of the loosest and most relaxed lines I've ever seen. Totally killin' it!
2005 DCI Finals, Foxboro, MA
See my other video for footage of them playing the show.

I think this is my favorite warmup video of all time. :-)
Love this exercise!
Wow, that is so laid back. Cool.

Why did snares play matched this year?
Wade Cutler on a whim by murray gusseck
Matched grip will always be easier to have consistent sound with both left and right hand being the same.
Um.....they have tons of dirt
So, the tenor line really did make up their I/E book the night before. Huh.
100%. It was 2004 Scheherazade, followed by a brief musical interlude based on Scheherazade, followed by the 2005 feature.
I've never seen match grip in dci before
@@itwasbetterwithhats820 oohhh ok thank you for telling me
Check out the late 70s and early 80s.
Back around the late 80's and early 90's, The Mandarins snare line always played match grip.
Gusseck the best drummers
Haha Gusseck is such a weirdo.

"So cool!" "Clean!" "Groovy!" .......yup....they grooved all the way to 10th place and never did match grip again
Drum corps is so tense now days
Power Drumming yet so much cleaner than this
match grip ! :D
This just.... hurts my soul
Disgusting match grip🤮🤮🤮🤮
Name one benefit that traditional offers.
Sounds great. Looks clean
@@mkepla8357 Preference, and I'm willing to bet that 99% of marching snare players prefer traditional, which is why matched is just like "why".
Jerry Jones I don’t disagree, I play traditional most of the time myself. My point was that nowadays, besides preference, traditional grip offers no real benefits.
Matched grip will always be easier to have consistent sound with both left and right hand being the same. I think matched grip on a good line is always sick to watch. The “trad only” guys normally hate on matched grip because they suck at it.
