  • Santa Clara Vanguard drumline running through some of their classic pre-show material. One of the loosest and most relaxed lines I've ever seen. Totally killin' it!
    2005 DCI Finals, Foxboro, MA
    See my other video for footage of them playing the show.

    Why did snares play matched this year?

  • @DarkAgeSwarm306

    Matched grip will always be easier to have consistent sound with both left and right hand being the same.

    So, the tenor line really did make up their I/E book the night before. Huh.

      100%. It was 2004 Scheherazade, followed by a brief musical interlude based on Scheherazade, followed by the 2005 feature.

      Back around the late 80's and early 90's, The Mandarins snare line always played match grip.

      @@mkepla8357 Preference, and I'm willing to bet that 99% of marching snare players prefer traditional, which is why matched is just like "why".

    • @mkepla8357
      @mkepla8357 4 роки тому +6

      Jerry Jones I don’t disagree, I play traditional most of the time myself. My point was that nowadays, besides preference, traditional grip offers no real benefits.

      Matched grip will always be easier to have consistent sound with both left and right hand being the same. I think matched grip on a good line is always sick to watch. The “trad only” guys normally hate on matched grip because they suck at it.
