I once wasn't paying attention when shaving my legs and GOT THE RAZOR STUCK IN MY NAIL. I felt this horrible pain in my finger and the razor blade was jammed in my finger. I nearly passed out.
I once cut off the tip of my thumb with a razor. It took off a chunk like 1/4 of a grape and it sprayed blood like a horror movie and it took three years for my fingerprint to grow back. I can rarely tell that story without someone involuntarily gagging and/or begging me to stop.

I wish I could switch to a menstrual cup, but I mainly wear pads because something inside me (also tampons, just a bit less and I am inserting all of it correctly) just makes my inner cramps worse. Those cramps inside of you, yup.

Have you considered something like Thinx (reusable underwear that absorbs period matter) or a Luna Pad (machine-wash reusable pads)? Those are external and also help you save money and the planet!

For the passing blood clots part, cramps are actually when the uterus contracts to get blood clots out of the cervix (either pushing out or pulling back in). So technically passing lots of blood clots would be pretty painful.
I have endo and pass blood clots my whole period I thought this was normal! not super big ones just medium small ones the whole time.
blood clots form due to not drinking enough water or not enough exercise ... Some people genetically are prone to them.. especially if you bleed heavily.. uhg.
well I drink water and work out so I guess I'm genetically prone! LOL I dont know if having endo affects this but I guess that might be genetic. oh well. The clots dont bother me its the extreme pain ALL over!
Alexis Gordon that sucks :( And endo most likely is the reason for the pain .. and just bodies are weird .. they change over time.. hormones are monsters. I use to get Happy when pms-ing. I was much younger and experienced no pain ...as I've gotten older and much less active .. I'm moody or sensitive. .. have incredible cramps, back pain, and extremely fatigued when my period comes through ... I'm not heavier than my younger years.. I'm actually lighter (lack of muscle tone). I'm only 27 though. I'm also looking into menstrual cups to see if I can reduce the pain and unnecessary trauma/drying that tampons cause.

It seems to be very painful for some people and others hardly mind at all. I have endometriosis, which causes very heavy periods, usually with lots of clumps, but they don't hurt to pass. I wonder if painful clumps is on the normal range or something to ask a doctor about?
