Bought one of these a while ago. Have used it to cut wood, loose brush, stir cement, and chop overgrown weeds. It hasn't let me down yet. I may one day actually use it to dig a hole.
What is really cool is I purchased both Cold Steel's small Spetsnaz shovel and the larger Trench shovel and I reversed the shovel heads so the larger shovel head is on the shorter handle the smaller shovel head is on the longer handle. The shorter handle now has more power because the shovel head is bigger and the shovel with the longer handle is more nimble because of the lighter shorter shovel head!
I damn love you Mr. Thompson and your work. Let me tell you that Cold Steel is the brand of all my favorite sharp and pointy items in my collection. Love for you and all members of the Cold Steel family from Chile!!

That first shot with the reverse ice explosion was the money shot in this video, very cool, i have one of the older models of these shovels but i think i might snag this one as well.
I've got the Special Forces Shovel and Spetznaz Trench Shovel, both from Cold Steel UK and I rate the shovels and the company very highly, great service and communication!

Uh I think the point is that it's a shovel and it digs just fine. We're showing all the stuff you wouldn't expect. Also if the shovel can bury itself through a car hood we think that's proof it holds up well to dirt.

As I turn two of the men into nothing but ash and bullet wholes, the ensuing mag dumping and screams of agony set off air strike sirens, I pull my army issued trench shovel on the last man and slice his chest open, he bleeds out waiting for the police to arrive since shovel wounds are impossible to stitch up. Weren't original trench shovels multi-tools? In fact I'm positive they were, or at least the ones used by Russian and Chinese militaries are. That's what's keeping me away from this; the fact that there's a model out there with a can opener bit, serrated edge, compass in the handle, ruler markings, etc
The Chinese version definitely has a multi-tool aspect to it (search here on YT for "Chinese Military Shovel" and there's a nice video of it in action).
