  • Worx ZipSnip:
The Worx ZipSnip has been around for a few years now. I've always been curious about how functional this little handheld multi cutter was.
In this video, I put it up against traditional household cutting tools such as scissors, a box cutter, and yes a pocket knife. How well did it do?
    Product description:
The 4V ZipSnip Cordless Electric Cutter is a lightweight and handy tool that will make you forget all about scissors. The 4V ZipSnip is small enough to fit in a utility drawer yet handles tough jobs that scissors and knives can’t. ZipSnip is powered by an efficient, rechargeable 4V MaxLithium battery that holds a charge for months. The charge light indicator lets you know when your ZipSnip is fully charged and ready for action. The self-sharpening blade slices through a wide variety of materials and ensures a precise cut every time. As a safety measure, there is a lock-out switch that works in conjunction with the trigger so you won’t damage your materials or injure yourself. ZipSnip weighs only one pound so it’s easy to control and the soft grip handle delivers maximum comfort while using. Get yourself a couple of ZipSnips - one for inside and one for out in the garage and yard. Say so long to scissors!
    Part #: WX081L
    Weigh: 1.1 pounds
    Dimensions: 9.1 x 2 x 4.5"
Battery: 1 Lithium ion batteries required. (included)
    Voltage: 4V

Safety and ease are the reasons why I'd get this. My kid cna break down boxes for me with little worry on my part. Meanwhile watching you use the box cutter and the blade was giving me worries I was gonna see a fingertip fly off.

Looks like a pretty handy tool. Gives a clean straight cut. Also looks a lot safer than a open blade. Also worth it for how smooth it cut that blister pack!

Awesome little tool. This seems like something that would make a great Mother's Day gift if she is always ordering lots of packages. It can also be great for someone who has arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome. The fact that it rips through blister packs makes it a tool I'm going to consider buying myself, though.

I'm doing paper mache on cardboard experiments for my spinning wheels, used to own a beautiful lendrum, with arthritic hands and vascular disorder so just swinging a frying pan to the sink for dishes can make veins twist raise and break in my hands. So when you said the knife goes faster, I have one of those for all the circles I'm cutting, hundreds of circles, for the various experimental builds with ball bearings and wood inserts, but I gotta tell you, while terrified of using this, the knife and scissors really mangles my hands, thumb, wrist, and hurts me, so there is an advantage, that knife is only faster for straight cuts with non arthritic hands.

  • @Munky332

Biggest problem I see with this thing is the internal battery.
Internal battery tools like this are a no-go for me. They need either a removable battery like the Makita, or at the very least have a battery compartment with swappable batteries, preferably something strong but replaceable like an 18650... I'd be curious if it has an 18650 internally just wired in, and if its easy to disassemble and remove.
Nothing worse than having a nice old reliable tool that after 2-3 years gives up the ghost just because the stupid battery won't hold a charge for more than a minute...

Wandering off-course while cutting the rubber mat had nothing to do with the rubber mat, it was your position sitting behind the material rather than standing above it. If anything, a material with long, straight ribs should lend itself to easily cutting straight.
