Another thing to check for on a mag check is a broken P-lead. A broken P-lead will result in 0-drop in RPM, and that means the magneto is stuck in an "ON" state. Which doesn't sound bad, but it can be, because it removes your ability to shut off a mag in the event something goes wrong in flight (i.e. detonation or pre-ignition. A magneto with bad timing can cause pre-ignition, and the solution in-air is to shut off that mag and run the engine on the other mag, and land).
Copilot learns fast. Your detailed insturctions on using the FMS is appreciated by us old steam pilots.
Love the technical use and explanation of the IFR utility
Cool video. Kim is asking some great questions. Me thinks she will make a superb pic or sic. Thanks for sharing. Get her into a flight school.
That little panel-dash "eagle" still looks pretty good after flying backwards all these years. Also, thanks for this very informative video. The resolution is exceptional.
Enjoy your vids. I live in Maryland, my friend has a Cessna. We would fly to eastern shore for lunch. These vids bring up fond memories.
Another terrific video Chris...Kim is doing great. I think she'll make a very good pilot. You do a nice job showing her what needs to be done, and explaining how & why they need to be done. The Run-up instruction to her was particularly good. Very entertaining for the viewer as well as informative. Great Stuff!
Being a CFI, Kim asks some really good questions! I love her curiosity and eagerness to learn.
Great instructional video.
Great Kim is getting some good practice and learning! Gr8 flight guys 😃
Enjoy watching the both of you fly. Will be great seeing Kim get her license one day. She definatly has good instruction on her side. Enjoy the Vids! Keep them Coming!
Thanks for watching. I too look forward to Kim getting her license. It will be a very proud moment for me. :-)
Good to see the beloved Baron back in the air again. Nice work by your right seater. She looks like a natural.
She is a natural
Good flight, thank you! Safe travels!
Loved Kim asking questions and the explanations. Always fun flying with you two.
Guys, Nice job on the video. Thank you for the work you put into these. Have a good one.
Kim is asking great questions
Awesome to see you both. Fantastic job and always love the videos. Keep them coming and please stay safe
Thank you! As long as people keep watching we will continue to share our love for aviation.
Great video Kristopher.... Kim is a sweetheart, and seems to have a willingness to learn the Baron. That's so cool.... Cheers from Oklahoma guys!!
Thank you! Yes she is very eager to learn.
RE 'unique'....I'm with your friend Sinclair...the word does not take a modifier. Thanks for posting.
LOL It drives him nuts! I never thought about it until I heard him complain. Now I kinda agree!
It is like the phrase “free gift”! What other kind of gift is there? I also cringe at “hot water heater”.....the appliance heats cold water!
Awesome video.
This is the first time me saying hello to you guys. Really love watching your videos. For some reason like watching flying videos during this lockdown. Maybe it's my spirit wanting to soar under these trying conditions. ;) You, sir, are an excellent teacher. It also helps that Kim is an excellent student. And she's a heck of a lot easier on the eyes than you. Sorry. And I mean nothing untoward by that statement. Respect to both of you.
"Aloha" Bob @ JAX, Great guy!!
Kim is doing great, will be a good copilot
Well, watching your vids finally got me to take the plunge on getting my multi rating and the wife started ground school. Thanks (I think) for that! Fun to watch Kim getting into it. Keep the vids coming! Tailwinds to you both...
Great video! I really enjoy the instructions! I am learning a lot from watching these videos! Thanks again.
Great shirt Kim.....
Brit is a blessing.
Awesome another pilot in the making
Love the Triumph tee.
Alohhaaaaaaa!! Love that controller!
This is great - I get to learn right along side Kim! A win-win for everyone! Something tells me this stuff will stick better in her brain than in mine, though. I can't remember much these days, lol.
Was great to see the different instruments and how they paint cells, and to see it visually as well. Priceless stuff right there! Thanks!
Getting ATC shoutouts regularly now! You guys have hit the big time. 😁👍👍 Great stuff as always, Kris & Kim! 😎
I’m sure it’s sticking in her brain quicker then it stuck in mine! 😂
@@BaronPilot - She's a smart one, that's for sure. Nice catch! 😉 Gonna be great seeing her flying that Baron soon. 😎
She'll be at flight school soon and you'll have a great co-pilot. Great video - take care.
love her tee shirt & great vid
I love your plane Baron!!
I agree, Florida Controllers are GREAT, I couldn't understand a way-point on a re-route and they were very patient with us on our Bahamas or Bust series, mostly my fault!
With all the student and foreign pilots we have, they are very patient.
@@BaronPilot
Yea, as I was vectored into Fort Pierce, it was a continuous; Traffic-here, there, they're everywhere. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet-up-coming or going!
Great Job Baron Pilot and I see a lot of Love in the Air with You and Kim:). She'll be your best co-pilot.
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching!
Nicely done Kim! You are advancing quite well to become a great pilot! Thanks to Chris for sharing his knowledge not only with you but the rest of us as well. I look forward in listening to Kim on the radio in the future. It's nice to hear other females on the radio whether it would be other airplanes flying or ATC. They have such a calm about them that is relaxing! :-) Thanks for the ride along. Don
Kim takes advantage of every flight to learn something. I look forward to handing off all the coms to her! LOL
Another Sweet video! If Kim ever does go to flight school, she'll be way ahead of the class to start! Making it easier on the instructor!
That's what I keep telling her.
Being a Brit of a certain age, may I take this opportunity to commend Kim on her choice of Tee shirt.
Peter Usher yea buddy! I used to own a street triple but felt unsafe with how my back was. Now that I’ve gotten surgery, I’m working to getting one again. I miss it dearly!
Hope she has a BSA one to complement it.
Peter Usher -Wasted her money, should have got a Norton Tee Shirt! HaHaHa, I restored 2.....
Agreed, Peter. One heck of a motorcycle. Had a friend many, many years ago that I believe also had a triple. He liked to push his toys. He got that sucker up to 90 mph (when it was still miles per hour) in 1st gear! Thank goodness he's not quite as nuts as he was. Still got himself pretty banged up in his youth because of that Triumph. Still walks with a limp.
Cleaning my screen 3 times still did not remove that bug! :-)
seaj CHS USA tell me about it 🤪😂
It always amazes me at what altitude you still hit bugs.
Jon Funanich they’re everywhere!
Kim does NOT look old enough to get the 'chills-multiplying-reference'
Kenneth Due aww thanks Kenneth. But I am 😁
Love the banter between the PIC AND SIC lol! Great stuff keep it up my friend.
Wait until you come flying with us and hear what I have to edit out! LOL
love your videos
Thank you.
I like your friends Triumph motorcycle t-shirt
Great channel, enjoy it a lot. You got a million views on one post I noticed, well done.
Thank you. I now I just want to grow the subscriber base. ;-)
@@BaronPilot Ha, good answer. Now you've got some help lol. Best wishes to you both.
Tel Kim if she needs any spares for her Triumph, I live 5 miles away from the UK factory! Awesome 'T' shirt. Love the Channel.
Kevin Chilton I would wear triumph shirts everyday if I had enough! It’s almost I
Possible to find them that fit me. 😫
As for the parts I appreciate it, I’m waiting so impatiently to get another one soon. Had to get rid of my other one a few years back
@24:42 - Hand Check! LOL
LOL
Aloha Bob is JAX center legend
All those guys in Jax are great!
After receiving dual instruction, my instructor would say, "head back to the airport ". I would reply, " where is it? ". That was way before all the new gadgets. 🤔🤔🤔
I enjoy watching your videos Mr. Baron Pilot. I’d like to be a passenger in your plane too.
Look out! She may start her own aviation UA-cam channel ...
Or just takeover this one! ;-)
Kim's doing great... it can be intimidating. I found most people were afraid to touch anything on the panel.
She is a quick learner!
@@BaronPilot I'm afraid to touch things on the panel.
Was going to say when is Kim getting her student license
Kevin you're doing good you're asking questions about that no you're flying. That's a little bit of knowledge that you could put underneath your belt. And you know if you don't understand something ask him? Yeah you'll be coming at a better pilot you. Got any questions ask him? And then. This way you don't know what? To. Do when you get your own plane? You know what what to do in the meters will you be x arabia expert and experience
Oh snap Kim lol
Altimeter setting was 30.09. She forgot to tell you the most important part of ATIS.
Is that a USM eagle?
What is the hight that you can go at with your Plane
Service ceiling is stated as 19,700’, although I have never come close to that.
What happened to the run-ups in future videos?
We edit them out to save time and keep the flow of the videos.
@@BaronPilot Ah. Okay, thanks.
Baron what is your day Job?
Is it going to be Kim Pilot next time ?
If she has her way it may be! LOL
Are you a CFI? You explain everything great!
You know instead of sending her to flight school, you could get your CFI then you can keep doing what you already are doing teaching her yourself.
Hey Kris, I put a deposit on a Mooney...
James Coker yes, congrats! 🥳 That’s so exciting!
Sweet!! Congratulations!! Can’t wait to see her!!
Baron Pilot I’ll send you a picture via messenger
Don't forget Kim is prettier than you but totally love the videos... keep them coming...
She will shortly be in the left seat.
Yes she will.
Can u film in 2k please????
I would love to film in 4K. That requires better computers, bigger HDs etc. Maybe once the channel hits 100K subs I can make the change.
4:26
Just nod politely luv.
To be frank i ddint underrstand either.
Send her to flight school :)
Love your channel, and at first I thought she was your daughter..but later I decided she was not.. sorry ...oops...forgive me...? Good video.
How many girlfriends do you have... Kinda awaiting to see who's next
I could swear the controller said "...passing 4,000 direct Ocala." When you made the transition you said passing 3,000 direct Ocala and made the turn. OOPS!!
SHHHHH ;-) Good catch.
@@BaronPilot Nope you said 4000.
9:22 About to wipe a smudge off my computer screen, then realize it is a bug on your windscreen!
Really enjoyed the video now with Kim at your side it really make it more fun because of the training and the conversation and just joking around.
Safe travels.
You should hear what I can't put on video! LOL She is great!!
Baron Pilot 😂😂
Triumph Twins are the best ride, awesome motorcycles
Nice flight!
Triumph riders are very cool!
Kim will become an exceptional pilot. The ladies always are.
Thanks for the run up info a great video
Hey mate. Was just reading on BeechTalk in the twins forum one of the guys had his son CAD and 3D print colour coded new throttle, mixture and pitch grips to replace his old ones. Look for the "58P - Mixture and Prop Knobs Project" heading. Thought of this when I saw the close ups of yours. Not saying there is anything wrong with yours. But....you know....
Glad the Baron is back in the air!
Beginning - I rode Triumph Bonneville 650's for 40 years - go Brit!
Nice Ride Guys...Thanks ';-)
Fly with Regional Approach in DFW! They're great
Great job Kim, flight school is next.
Believe me, she is itching!
Thanks.
Thanks for this informative video.
Thanks for watching!
Salut vous tank you vidéo magnifique super bravo merci
Thank you
I just got a IFD 540 and really appreciate all the great videos and explanations on your use of it. Love your videos.
That’s awesome! I know you will love it! I’m glad my videos help. 👍🏼
Good stuff guys!
I always learn a lot from all of you guys... This helps me fly safer and better
Glad we can help!! Thanks for watching and fly safe!!
Go for it Kim. Get that ticket
I love Kim's attentiveness!
Have you done a video on the headsets you’re using during flight? Looking to buy the A20. What are your thoughts? Long term use and review?
One reason for multiple prop feathering from a CFI was to 1 circulate oil 2 watch for oil from both engines just in case the hub developed a leaking seal. You'll see the problem before takeoff.
She's doing good.
Yes she is
You two look sweet together ;-) and I’ve been watching for quite a while. Great to see all of that complicity!
Thank you!
Complicity? Humor? Asking for a friend.
Thanks for the video on the coms very cool. thanks again
Good idea on doing both engine's mags together. I'm going to start doing that.
It was a trick I learned from another pilot. It also shows you when one of the mags is becoming more tired then the other.
@@BaronPilot Also you don't have to remember how much the drop was, to be within 50 rpm of the other engine.
Also it’s less stressful on the airframe. Check feather individually however.
Great video, like when you show how you work the GPS system. I was 2 weeks ago at KPGD doing a discovery flight with Ron Sachen on a Piper Warrior, I recognize those hangars :)… greetings from Tampa. Thanks!
Thank you. How was your discovery flight?
Baron Pilot it was awesome... we departure PGD, went direct to the coast and then landed at VNC, we ate at the local cafe and plan the return... then landed on runway 15... at 42 yrs old and in contact with aviation since born this was sublime... I’m starting ground school in a week and shortly after my PPL. 😎 never to late to follow your dreams!
Mike Sierra awesome!! Are you going to train at PGD?
Baron Pilot thank you!! I’m debating because I liked Ron as CFI, and as he is planning to moved from PGD to somewhere close to south TPA I don’t know yet. I may drive on Saturdays for a couple hours of training to compensate the commute (1:45hrs one way) until he finally move closer but he doesn’t have set dates yet... can’t do it more often due to distance and my day job mon thru fri.
Mike Sierra ya you are in a touch spot. The condensed you can make your training, the more time and money you will save. My advice is train as close to your home and as often as you can.
