Love the moment where Sheridan just snaps and yells at everyone! Speaking truth! It’s all kicking off now.
Everyone needs a friend and needs to BE a friend like Zach. He gives it to you straight , AND is willing to walk through the valley with you.
Yes! This where season 5 really gets going. "You wanted a war. You GOT a war!" ... a great Sheridan moment.
JMS may surprise you yet again. We shall see.
Be seeing you
Londo standing up for G'Kar... who would have thought?!
Mira's husband directed this episode and it's such a shame that this is the only Babylon 5 episode he did because he did such a great job.
It's a reason this episode has so much impact.
Since day 1, Londo was a "true Centauri" and an "old republican". He really was a ride or die rep for the Centauri. 😔🫡
i love the scene between zack and michael, maybe zacks best scene. and considering the life and death of jeff conaway, it must have been very close to home for him.
So Season 5 really stood up again and really carried the banner gorgeously again already, especially in The Ragged Edge and since. But this one is pretty much when all the shit is washed away clean completely and we're back in classic B5 territory again. IMHO.
I'm not sure that it's classic Babylon 5- but that's more to do with the high standards the show was setting before.
It's certainly back to the Babylon 5 classic feel that we mainly didn't get in the first half of season five.
Well, in my original viewing of the season, I definitely felt that all was forgiven for the crappy Byron arc at this point. It's just so clear by this episode that build up since Epiphanies has all been leading here with the Drakh and the Centauri.
The events here are big, well built to, and clearly leading also to a grand climax. Is it a classic classic episode? Eh... perhaps not as good as even a couple episodes earlier in the season. But it definitely shows the big payoff is happening. It proves we're still in great hands with JMS.
The Byron arc is almost chiefly a flop because of one actor and a lack of strong momentum in the first half of the season. At this point, I am happy enough that that all feels like minor disappointment.
My favorite episode of the season is probably Meditations of the Abyss, in fact. But it's so very much just about enjoying good times with great characters and fun scenes. When I first saw it, I just thought it was a lot of fun. But at this point with the Centauri at war with the Alliance, the grand epic is thoroughly back in focus.

Oh trust me, better this than anything Byron and his crew had to offer 😂
This was a very good episode- and I do agree we're back to the standard b5 style that works so well. Just feel it isn't as strong as what came before 😢
On the Garabaldi thing and him thinking they'd just kick him out... Would they though??? (Prior to his muck up and starting the war).
Surely he could have claimed work burn out and as you rightfully said go for therapy.
Maybe before he got drunk, passed out, and caused a war. lol
JMS certainly had more sympathy for people struggling with addiction, considering that a lot of the B5 cast did at some point in time and he actively recruited some of them being aware of this issue. Addiction is not a character weakness, and support and understanding definitely helps more than judgement.
Aa someone with an addict parent my sympathies got abused and abandoned out of me.
@@MegaReactsI'm sorry, that must have been horrible and will of course influence your perception. Addiction is definitely no excuse for inflicting pain, of whatever sorts, on other people, and you are under no obligation to forgive the people who harmed you. However, I do think that those of us who haven't been hurt personally should try to extend compassion where we can.
“We are just victims” - Yes, that sounds very familiar these days…
War. War never changes...
Sorry, wrong franchise!
Jeff Conaway had an amazing piece in this episode. Probably his best acting in the whole show. He had problems with drugs before and after the show, so him saying all this while he is doing great and is healthy is truly moving.
Especially since Jerry Doyle was another addict, so there was so much personal resonance in this scene
2nd half of season 5 is on par with the rest of B5. First half is weird, but I personally do like it. The 2nd half is just gold. Banger after banger.
The most Horrifically beautiful episode of Babylon5.
.
This episode echos politics today so perfectly. "You don't want peace, You want a war"
A burden the Human Race still can't rid itself of.
...all because Morden asked "What do you want?" in s1 and Londo gave him the answer Morden was looking for.
Zack's speech to Garibaldi resonates hard today, because Jeff died unable to control his own drug abuse.
I think Jerry died from bad habits too.
@@sdfried4877 True, but to a far lesser degree
@@exile220ify Indirectly, I suppose. He aged very quickly and did not look well at all for the last few years. Conaway was an actual overdose, as I recall.
I love angry Sheridan. His speeches are so good. I also love the friendship between Londo and G'Kar. Its one of my favorite things in the show. So much character development.
