Stripped Shower Handle - Delta Monitor 1700 series

An investigation of a stripped handle - turns freely but the shower does not operate. Turns out the problem was partially worn plastic teeth on the faucet component - due to improperly installed handle from previous repair.

I'm going to do a little more surgery because my hot/cold are reversed but this look inside the device was very helpful.

The o-ring goes over the bonnet nut and prevents water from goin into the wall and directs it out the front so you know that it's leaking. That's what's preventing the handle from goin all the way on.

Thank you for the tip! That makes complete sense. I moved the o-ring and will update my video.
Question- there is a groove on the bonnet that looks like a perfect spot for the o-ring, but the sleeve won't pass over it (not enough space). So I put the o-ring just behind the groove on the bonnet, and it went on fine. What do you think?

I have a similar handle, but the screw that gives me the problem is the one that keeps the end of the handle on. That won't stay screwed in and it is hard to rotate the handle. Don't even know what it is called or it is not one piece

I just install three of those and one of them the hot water is is in the cold and oposite im pretty sure I have to cut the ceiling and change the water lines
