This video is very well done. My house was built in 1998, and the shower valve was all bunged up with calcium. Had to use a hack saw blade to cut off the bonnet, but that was easy. Bought Delta RP32104 cartridge and Delta RP 22734 Bonnet Nut from Amazon. Amazon delivered in one day and I don't have Prime. Apply lots of silicone grease as he shows you. I used Slyglyde brake lubricant that I had on hand. Shower is back working perfectly! Cheers from Calgary AB Canada.
Great video👍🏻! I work in retail plumbing, trying to tell customers who have no idea what they are doing, this entire process is mind numbing!! All they can say is “is this going to work”. I’m like you are going to have to try it. So many cart choices and trim/handle choices. Thanks for posting
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why youtube is so great. Listen to this guy, watch as he does things perfectly and then imitate it (as best as a hack like me can) and get the job done. Thank you sir, for an excellent video.
I watched a lot of videos on this particular shower faucet you are the only one that mentioned about plumbers Grease on the fittings and I already installed mine without it but the next time I will thank you ,you had a great video
Best video. I was working on mine today. Hardest part is to get the cartridge to stay in and not turn as you screw in that brass collar (locknut), no matter how hard you push it's not going to go all the way in until you tighten it. Hold it if necessary and be sure that little tab goes into the slot. Good tip on the plumber's grease.
Your tips to put grease on your finger for inserting the small rubber part to the holes and to grease all the moving parts are great. The next plumbers and home owner will be thankful to you. 🎉❤
I watched other videos and yours was the best and most informative! Thank you so much, I struggled for hours then saw your video and got it within 5 minutes
I so wish i would of seen your video before listening to 2 other guys on youtube as they said put the "hot side" facing up and not to the left as you said and of course the instructions i read when i finally went out to buy one for i thought mine was gone. This video saved me $45 as it is going back to lowe's, Still I cannot retreive the time that those 2 caused me to waste.
Awesome. I did mine after I got the plumbers grease and helped out great when reinstalling the springs and caps. It works better than before. Thanks a lot for this video. I subscribed and liked
Very cool. On the newest version 1700 model it has the all in one plastic piece. Does it just snap out and then snap the new one in followed up by the cartridge body?
So does the 17 series work the same as the 1700. Doing an update. From 1700 to 17. It comes with a 17 cartridge. Hoping I don’t have to buy the 1700 also. Thanks!
The grease I had that day I also noticed as well I went to the supply house and bout the proper grease though I’ve personally never had an issue with that particular grease in my 9 years of field work
I got my cartridge from Amazon today but the plumbers grease isn't coming until tomorrow so off to home depot I go I don't want to wait the faucet is leaking around 5 gallons in 24 hours
I always use A tiny Tim hack saw and hand cut threw the ring just before the threads smack it with a flat head and it’ll pop free for you to spin it off and buy a new nut if you have a older 1700 it will have 3 little tubes on the back do not reef on that valve or you will snap those tubes and you’ll be calling me out to fix it hahah If it’s newer you don’t have to worry If it’s strapped really good and you have sturdy piping grab it with 2 wrenches and feed her the onions but I always just cut it it takes like 10 min if you do it rite

Thank you so much brother!! No games, and to the point!! Your expertise and delivery are spot on! Cheers, and thank again!!
Very good video really helped me to figure out why my stops weren't working correctly, had control valve pointing same way as handle
You have the best explaination of how to rebuild these shower parts. I followed to a T your video and have mine all together just like you did.

Excellent video. You did the repair faster with one hand than it took me using 2. --- Thanks for the great upload. ---
Great job in explaining the process. I really learned from it ,

I love when the video shows everything. Those video that skip anything, I skip it!

Thank You
Followed your Lead
Plummers grease and all. Perfect
When I swapped it out the water pressure was lower, any idea why?
Dude thank you so much… totally saved my butt!!!
Great tips! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing brother. Please help us how to fit when the cartridge only cool or only hot
Good explanation. Watch for some secrets.

It should work out you shouldn’t need anything else
Your plumbers grease states it is not for use on plastic or o-rings. Will this grease cause prongs to wear out faster?
The grease I had that day I also noticed as well I went to the supply house and bout the proper grease though I’ve personally never had an issue with that particular grease in my 9 years of field work
You forgot to install (or you did not show) the connected “oo”ring before installing the cartridge.
I followed the steps, and after I turned the water on, no water came out. Why?
I got my cartridge from Amazon today but the plumbers grease isn't coming until tomorrow so off to home depot I go I don't want to wait the faucet is leaking around 5 gallons in 24 hours
Thank you
I assume if you have a reverse (hot water line), you would move it the opposite of what is in the videos....???
What would be the cost to do this with a plumbing company?
Usually 3-4 hundred
Any advice on how to get a super tight seized lock nut off?
I always use A tiny Tim hack saw and hand cut threw the ring just before the threads smack it with a flat head and it’ll pop free for you to spin it off and buy a new nut
if you have a older 1700 it will have 3 little tubes on the back do not reef on that valve or you will snap those tubes and you’ll be calling me out to fix it hahah
If it’s newer you don’t have to worry
If it’s strapped really good and you have sturdy piping grab it with 2 wrenches and feed her the onions but I always just cut it it takes like 10 min if you do it rite
Unfortunately I have the older 1700 valve that has the white cartridge. I appreciate your advice. Thank you !
I have a Delta Monitor 1800 series what kit do I need to get you are just showing the 1700 series please help
You need the 1800 series cartridge
I have not personally worked on one yet though
Thank you..will do this when I get the part..
I can' t get the cartridge to fit into the tube so the points fit into the indents, after I put the adapter assembly in. WTF???!!!
What cartridge number did you use
RP32104 has one square notch and the twin-washer is side by side with no gap. RP46463 has 2 triangle notches and twin-washer has 1mm gap.
