11:13 Arpeggiator. Rate of arpeggiation. Key Sync - every time you press a new note it restarts the step sequencer in the Arpeggiator.
12:23 Quality. More obvious with more polyphony. Analog kind of does the same thing as Detune, it's also kind of random.
13:24 Quality: Digital, will reduce the sample rate and bit depth of the audio output, affects the harmonic spectrum. Fuzzy high frequency stuff.
14:02 Effects. Add things as you please.

20:30 One Shot, only works with Key Sync on.
21:02 With Tempo Sync off you can change the tempo. Arpeggiation rate, Triplets and Dotted. Note Length, Shuffle (rhythm)
22:05 Expression: Velocity. Introduce velocity sensitivity. 22:36 Turn on Velocity. Define Velocity and Accent, choose which steps have the accent.
22:52 Split. Which side of the split uses the arpeggiator. Learn button to learn where the split is.
23:27 Up to 32 steps in pattern Editor. Customise the On, Tie, Accent, Note Order (click to customise further), Octave
24:25 Octave and Transpose customisation. Hit the dice button to randomise everything. And you can Reset everything.
25:12 A bug? Turning on Key Sync makes it skip the first step the first time.
26:37 Arrows shift the sequence forwards or back.
26:53 Easy/Morph section. Need a preset. 27:16. Can quickly tweak parameters from the preset without the Expert section. Altering Attack.

28:48 Output section, overall volume. Stereo Width, Velocity.
    29:30 Quick access to Effects.
29:56 Morph X-Y grid. Morph between 4 different states. Can go to Browser and load another different preset by dragging and dropping into the morph at the top.
31:09 Can drag between the 4 presets now. Find a cool spot then hit Normalize Timbres to spread it across the 4 quadrants. It creates a new patch.
32:05 Different presets for further demo. Can spread it across the Y and X axis with sliders to take value from more positions at once, and can drag it all around.
33:15 Click Random Seed to change the pattern.
33:34 Some parameters morph and some don't. Anything with the morph pad icon morphs, things from other sections too.
34:37 Not all jump, some move gradually.
35:00 Create your own morphs. Morphing with effects. Morph from 100% to 0%. Square goes red when it records the change.
36:09 Expert page where the FM synth stuff happens. A to F are individual operators.
36:51 See other videos and his course at macprovideo. com for explanations of operators and FM synthesis.

39:49 Right click to activate other modulators. E.g. can make D modulate F, arrow shows direction of modulation. D can also be a carrier. Can create complex signal paths.
40:39 Create feedback path. Individual modulators can modulate themselves.
41:08 Presets. Quantity of Carriers and Modulators. Demo. Can be morphed. Can save them.
41:40 X is a noise generator and saturator. F going into X. Add asymmetry. F and X going to the output. Asym affects noise signal.
42:56 Z is a filter. It's like Massive. Mixing between 2 filters. Par/Ser (parallel or series). Can switch to high pass.
43:50 2nd filter takes the cutoff from filter 1 and offsets it with the Spread dial.
44:13 Controls on the Operators. In FM Synthesis, tuning is adjusted in ratios. Think of it as a multiplier.
44:56 Offset to the tuning. Demo with E and F. Offset is fixed, value more obvious as you go lower and less as you go higher.
46:13 For a consistent change in tuning, use the Ratio.
46:40 Waveform. More waveforms than just Sine. Key Sync, pressing a new note, the waveform resets to the zero crossing. Pitch Env, Pitch (button) section.
47:49 A-F Operator pages are identical. Operators tab. Velocity sensitivity control. X and Z.
48:40 Can tweak the Envelope. Grid base interface. Right click to add nodes.
49:26 Set back to default (Gate). There are presets. Demo of changing an Envelope. E is looping. To stop it looping turn off the Sustain (Sus).
51:00 Some additional controls. Tempo Sync. Drag the view around. Parameters: can adjust Rel T (relative time).
51:57 Change Slide mode (Mode SLD). Cool presets. 4-Blip Loop.
52:37 Envelope section differs from the Operator envelope sections - you can see an overview of the other envelopes and you can copy and paste them. Click Link of the one you want to copy, it links it to another Operator. You can unlink them to copy and it to another and keep it independent.
53:56 Modulation Matrix. 2 LFOs can modulate any of the Operators and the overall pitch. PB Up + PB Dn, Pitch bend range. AT - aftertouch.
55:00 Ctrl 1 and 2. Define in the Master section.
    55:24
56:02 Sync. Key Sync resets shape to 0. Use any modulator to affect the level of the Operators.
    56:48 Z.
    57:26 For X it's volume.
58:08 For each note you can define how loud it'll be.
59:18 Reduce the brightness of notes.
1:00:00 That's Key Scaling for every Operator. Microtuning presets.
1:00:32 Spect - visualiser. Pitch section. Mod.
    1:01:15 Pitch Envelope. Velocity sensitivity.
1:02:33 That's everything. He has a book on how to create sounds using FM8, book could be helpful

Great video. Some features you explained got me all excited, but really, I don’t do much sound design - mainly just use presets. However, part of me wants to tackle fm synthesis ever since I played my first DX7 in the 80s. The depth of synths and sampled instruments in Komplete 14 is over-whelming at times. These legacy synths like FM8, Forms, Reacktor are often over looked and yet, they can create some amazing sounds. 😊

That glitch in the arpeggiator doesn't happen is you make sure to hit the lowest note first. When you play a chord organically on a keyboard you often end up hitting the middle note first, which starts the arpeggiation on the second note. But if you do a little trill with your hand starting at the lowest note it doesn't happen.

Hi, I am trying to create a bass sound, with an lfo filter cutoff modulation, now, I wanted to change the lfo speed during the note (like a dubstep bass wah loop). In Massive, it's easy to do, but in Fm8, is not so obvious how to go about it. Thanks, if is not possible to do it with Fm8 thanks anyway.

The unison panner is like that (only evaluated at note on) due to CPU optimization. :)
Also "Auto" portamento mode simply cannot happen in polyphonic case, just think about it, it's logical why.
