I've been a full time youtuber and gold prospector for 8 years. Ive had the opportunities to do all sorts of mining, from panning and metal detecting to dredging and mining overseas.
And it's time for expansion.
Its been a long time coming where I make some significant changes to what i do because the costs of staying where I am will be far more than the risks of trying something new.

Dude I just want to say I really appreciate the stuff you put out on spud. Some of the most thoughtful, solid advice I’ve heard has been from some guy on UA-cam on the other side of the world making cheap, sometimes useless tools and I love it.

Love the vids. I'm a little burnt out myself. 19 years in gold mining working on control systems for those giant processing plants. Newmont if you know from your neck of the woods. Except in nevada. Working on rooting around looking for some gold I can call my own.

From someone that is a bit burnt out, i look forward to your videos and watch them as they come up. Getting a chance to do some prospecting is high on my bucket list of things to do. I believe it was James Howard Kunstler who low-key coined the term "psychology of previous investment" which is the pitfall you describe. Change is scary, which is why most people resist it.

For tbose dealing with depression, etc....some days are teeth and toenails, hanging on with all you've got....other days are priceless, easy going and you can be nearly happy.
Pay attention to what makes you happy, and do more of it. Gardening? Prospecting? Reading? Cup of coffee early in the morning watching the sun rise? Value that time, and stash that feeling away for the bad days.

As others have said. Of all the other prospecting channels buckshot is the only other one I watch with any consistency. What has helped me more is your teaching. Sir sweat pants is just fun to watch he helps me to keep trying because he is having fun even if there isn't many specks in the pan.
This is exactly what I needed to hear today sir. it's hard to reconcile the need to make a change weighted against an investment that has been made up to that point, but ultimately, your happiness and mental health will always be more important in the long run.
A very good message Chris, you don't want to be the guy that hates his job, all the way to retirement, then drops dead. A bad day prospecting, is still better than a good day at work😂

In all honesty, UA-cam has trashed the gold places. Certainly has around my areas. Nobody there before, now most of my spots are trashed by grubs attracted by UA-cam. Rubbish everywhere. Best way to destroy your area, show people on UA-cam. It's a fact. Everytime I asked a grub how he knows about this , everytime from a UA-camr. So don't complain when your own spots are fkd Mr youtubers.

Hi Chris. I am 60 years old. I've had my career, raised my family, served my country, and contributed to my community. I've had multiple jobs and paid my taxes. I've done everything that is expected of me. But I found myself either working or recovering from work. I had nothing outside of that anymore, despite a shed full of tools and projects that I just didn't have time or energy for. Until I started watching your videos about 2 months ago. I live in one of the richest gold areas in my state, Some of it within walking distance. You inspired me to get out, get interested and get active. You've inspired me to do things I haven't done in a long time, and stuff I've never done before. From my life experiences, and what I've seen, I can tell you you are doing the right thing, because there is no rewind, no reload from a save game. You've got one shot, and your're doing it. Thanks for the inspiration mate, and the knowledge, experience and motivation you've passed on. And I'm sure there is a whoie bunch of other people who will agree. Maybe one day we will get a chance to share a pipe or two and talk some shit about the world. Peace and good luck.

I will miss you at points I imagine but knowing you are seeking knowledge and not just clicks for cash, that makes it all ok.
UA-cam can suck it. More tubers doing this would tell the algorithm to suck it and adapt to human needs, not money math needs.

I enjoy these extra ...honestly I think of Spud engineering as a part of Vogus prspecting and don't really seperate the two channels at all...extra thoughtful segments that you put into "what you do" I actually just enjoy spending the time I wait for panikillers to work listening and interacting with you, your channel, and your viewers
Ive done a lot in my life but never really written anything or filmed much and those are two things I am attempting to focus on, writing stories and filming some of the stuff I do...just to see if people like it (I might even get started filming sometime soon)
It would be sad to see less of you, but if it means that you get to broaden your horizons then you have my full support. Happiness is everything and if a change makes you happy then go for it ❤
While there is a lot of content out there, very little is quality. You must be able to reach out and have the audience want to come back to you. Your content is educational and entertaining. That brings me back. In fact I look for our content on a daily basis. That speaks volumes for your quality in content. Keep up the good work.
