The placer gold is from Dahlonega, Georgia. I dredged that gold on Yahoola Creek, which runs right behind the Consolidated Mine. Should be about a gram maybe a little less. (Yes, the gold is between 18-20k)
The book tells the tales of how the Georgia gold rush happened and even discusses some of the Trail of Tears events. The black cabochon is onyx and I used it to display the tin pan with the gold in it. The green stone was to test an Asian company’s quality of product. Needless to say it is sub par. The clear ones are cubic zirconia. I threw those in just for grins.
Just wanted to say how much your channel inspires me and how much joy I get out of tuning in to your endeavors and escapades. I’ll have to try sending the silicon skulls ice tray again. 😁

@@clayp5129 dude, thanks for the interest, but I live in Texas and I did that dredging over 20 years ago. I only had one day and got in touch with a local prospector to take me out on the creek. Had fun and I’ve never been able to get back.

Acetone takes that paint straight off of a Bruces (Bunnings) bucket. Cheaper than a rattle can of paint and saves that 'hand action energy' for something more productive!

Nice gifts :) The US Morgan dollars cost $80 USD each, so $120 AUD here (I'm a Vic guy too) and the Eagle about half that.
They are both proof coins and were both about $80 USD each. Funny thing about the new Morgan Dollars, the are only about 3/4 of an ounce compared to the ones from 1860’s to 1923 which are an ounce.

Hey Chris - got a bit of an idea for you to maybe make and sell along with your other products. A ring of mesh with a solid border that sits just below the top of a pan. Make them in different mesh sizes for classifying straight into the pan. Simple to make, very light, inexpensive, and easily carried.
I don't think that Chris quite has hand skills for manufacturing such items yet? His hand tool skills are improving but he needs to concentrate on the task at hand and apply himself to being more careful with what he uses to make his projects! 😅
@@markfryer9880 He mentioned on another channel about the flat pans he's making and selling. What I've suggested is, in a simple form, a 3d printed plastic ring with a ring of mesh attached.
