Dpr Ian aka Christian Yu is a Korean-Australian singer, musician, producer, editor, director etc
He is an incredible artist who makes all of his music and music videos! He edits them all! he’s really one of a kind. He also directs and edits for other artists.
Ian has Bipolar and DID (dissociative identity disorder). His music and videos explore those subjects, they also include his “alters”. “Alters” are basically other personalities that live in one person (they have different memories, attitudes, habits, tones etc). Ian blacks out when he switches.
He is very open about his mental health he felt comfortable enough to share more about his diagnosis’s over the years. He’s so inspiring.
The alters/personalities he has included in his work so far and their psychical appearances in mvs:
MITO
He takes over during Ian’s manic lows. He is destructive but also Ian’s protector. He holds Ian’s trauma and keeps it all locked away.
In music videos he can be seen wearing dark clothes, an eye ring on his finger, he has one white eye, and his voice is made very deep. Whenever you hear a deep voice talking or deeper singing, that’s Mito. Sometimes his scenes are in black and white but not always! Just look out for the eye
Mito recorded the song Skins and also shot the mv. Ian has no memory making it but posted it. It’s very raw
MR INSANITY
he takes over during Ian’s manic highs. He is very chaotic and lacks care for his own safety. Mito hates him bc of those things.
He can be seen in music videos with blonde hair, clown-like makeup, fireflies surrounding him, his eyes sometimes flash pink and green.
THE HYBRID
it is a combination of the worst parts of Mito and Mr Insanity. Eye colours seem to be either blue or gold. Ian has called it an “abomination” and “entity”. Ian has not referred to it as a certain gender either, where as Mito and Mr Insanity go by he/him.
The hybrid does have a name but Ian has said on his live that only about 6 people in his life know it. He might share the name soon as his upcoming album is mainly focused on The Hybrid.
It’s appearance in music videos is a mix of Mito and Mr Insanity.
What a ride you’ll be on, DPR IAN and the whole DPR team is absolutely fantastic and IAN is the creative director & editor of his MVs!
Really a genius with all his musical talents, he’s been writing and mixing on insta live recently to show his songwriting/composing process, it’s fascinating to watch him work

hi hi! thank you for reacting to him! he's awesome, I'm so lucky I have the opportunity to see him and other dpr members live this october
his stuff is so interesting to analyse, i got into him cuz i'm so into deep storylines (i'm a bookworm and i hope to become a writer at some some point in my life) and intricate forms of narrating; he's a great storyteller and a talented musician, he inspires me so much
also, i don't have did or bipolar but the way he talks about some aspects of his mental health in his music resonates to me in deep levels, i have my own struggles with mental health as well and is so refreshing seeing someone being so transparent with their's
