One of the best shows ever. I didn't get where I am today without recognizing one of the best shows ever when I see it!
Great
both great and super
@@stevenmiller4840 only the problem of an inability to sit down without farting 🤣🤣
My father once caught me watching _The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin_ ... "DBoze," he'd said (we were never close), "DBoze... watching TV doesn't get the washing-up done!"
Well said my friend. 😂
Bless that wonderful man -Leonard Rossiter. He made me laugh all my childhood. I miss him too
I didn't get where I am today talking to Pillocks.
Imagine a sitcom having dialogue this clever these days. Watching these old clips is a stark reminder of just how much dumbing down has taken place over the past several decades.
Mrs Browns Boys…..
For years I've tried to believe that what you say isn't true. But the older I get the more I believe that it is.
i don't think dumbing down has occured from this sit com . If there was a market for it I'm sure this show could slide today .... OK them all dressed up as asians pretending to view the houses would have been cut but ....
The actor portraying the television host is the father of actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
Who knew?
Rossiter was a brilliant as Reggie and it has been said that he was quite difficult to work with as he was a bit of a perfectionist. Having said that though the people that did work with him and learned from him now have successful careers in their own right - says a lot in itself really.
This comment is 11 minutes late, wireless keyboard battery incident at Chipping Norton. Leonard passed on way before his time, very much missed genius comedy performer. Wouldn't it be great if he was still around, wonder what else he would have done, maybe even some more Reggie!
He speaks very very fast, especially in Rising Damp, which is also awesome.
Colin Pillock is played by Timothy Carlton; his son is Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock).
Your written English is excellent! The main character Reggie does speak very quickly. If you want to to see an example of another English sitcom of the same era, try Yes Minister on UA-cam. It is extremely funny, and the actors speak very clearly.
It was good to see Leonard Rossiter in a small dramatic role in one of my favourite films: 2001. He was playing a Russian ambassador methinks. Film was aired on BBC 2 nearly a week ago. One that should be seen first on a big screen. Best was at a screening in South Bank Festival Hall, with a live orchestra, in the presence of Stanley Kubrick's widow.
Leonard rossiter was a fantastic actor, good enough for Stanley Kubrick, great comment jack
Leonard Rossiter how I miss him.
Marvellous! Terrific! Great! Super! :)
Knock out!
Reggie would be a fantastic internet troll
Agreed, one of THE best series EVER!!
The other actor is cumberbatches dad
most excellent, this satirical piece is still revelant today and funny.
Classic. So much better than Clunes rubbish remake.
Great...Super!
Thank you very much. My teacher tells me that my English can improve if I try to listen to the BBC program. But I'll take your advice. :)
"Cheque book for the Dogger Bank"...let's just enjoy that for a few moments before the generation that used cheque books passes into history....
Oh, I can see, where Benedict got his good looks from now!
Would you look at those cheekbones! O.O
Great
um... I am from Taiwan.I am a beginner of learning English. Would anyone please tell me what they are taliking about? I have tried my best baut the left one speaks so rapidly so I can hardly cathch him. I wish someone could give me some informatin of what he says.
great stuff in the days that were rip reggie irishman leonard god bless you god rest you
I love this bit, because as crazy as the idea of Grot Shops is, Reggie has actually managed to find someone who's even weirder than he is and he knows it.
Mr Pillock is not weirder than Reggie
Benedict's father! He's a very good-looking.
like father like son :)
smashing
Pillock should have been played by Kenneth Williams
Kenneth Williams would have commanded the whole scene by his presence. He was far to enigmatic to play that part
TIMOTHY CARLTON IS SO ATTRACTIVE!! I CAN SEE HOW BENEDICT GOT HIS LOOKS!! THOSE CHEEKBONES!!
OK Jemima , you've made your point
I didn't get where I am today by looking at You tube
This scene is straight out of Peter Cook type jokes. But i love it anyway!
It's great writing ,a rarity during the 70s, and every decade since
Should that down there below not read Super Smashing Great? PILLOCK! HA!
Sorry CJ...
Not really a sitcom waller . . . . . oh thanks.
Knockout!
