Unless you have to be on a budget, just enjoy your life. After surviving cancer, and now having to cope with an autoimmune, I've learnt the true adage .... "Life is too short". If you are on a budget, try your local Co-Op after 8pm (they close at 10pm). And don't dismiss the "expensive" supermarkets who also have budget lines. And, if you aren't on a budget, remember that you may work with someone who is .... When I bake, I always make an extra cake or crumble .... Or curry .... for one of my nurses who recently got divorced and has two little ones.
Love love love making flatbreads! I fry a red onion and mix it into the dough before cooking, and add whatever seeds I have lying around - pumpkin seeds are the best ❤
Well done! When you get bread, slice it & then double wrap for the freezer. You can then pull out a slice or two as & when you want. Prawns on a bed of sliced cucumber. A little salad cream with a dash of tomato ketchup 2 to 1 ratio sprinkled with paprika for sauce. Courgette can be stuffed with chopped fried mushrooms & onion & peas with a serving of croutons (diced bread deep fried) season both as you like. Top with cheese if you have any. Dessert -sliced pear (& banana).
New subscriber - you randomly popped up and I'm glad you did! As a canny Scot I'm all about less waste and not spending so much lol. Your food looks fab I would eat everything you made it looked lush 😋😋 I love that you forage. Being a pesto fan have you tried Wild Garlic pesto? Just the time of year for it. And Dandelions! Lots of possibilities there and very good for you. Looking forward to seeing more of your content 😊
New subscriber. Well done for demonstrating good healthy cooking on a frugal budget, showing that it can be done! I hate food waste, so well done for utilising the leftovers into other meals. Alchemy! You ask would we eat this? Absolutely.
You are so imaginative ! really enjoying your vids and picking loads of tips ! thank you (just one complaint - there are so many suggestions, I don't know where to start !)
Butternut squash is great! Chop it up (skin on) with unpeeled sweet potatoes and bake in the oven with spices. Boil up in stock and blend. Sorry to hear Jack had a poorly foot, glad he’s feeling better x
I love this as a realistic example as most people have bits and bobs in the cupboard that make the way into the meals. Would you consider doing this challenge again with either costings per meal or maybe restricting use of certain items you already have in like protein powder?
Love your videos and way of life I too love to shop wisely and only buy reduced food were possible Love your beautiful little cat Sending lots of love xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ve bee enjoying your budget cooking! Fairly new to the channel! I’m pretty sure I would be having mini heart attacks if all I had in my fridge was 1/2 of a vegetable!
I would recook the rice with chopped mushroom and sauteed onion, add some water if necessary. Just to save it. I never throw food away as money goes into the bin then. Otherwise great ideas, liked the video.
Love the rainbow of colours in your food. The last soup with miso looked very interesting and delicious. I hope all was ok after those ropey mushrooms as the ones with the red/orange marks on them looked very suspect 😲 Didn’t notice you using any garlic, that would really bump the flavours up especially in that chicken and tomato rice that got thrown. First time I’ve watched you and thoroughly enjoyed your cooking as it’s very creative.
I think you did really well for £15 and using bits and pieces you already had. It all looked healthy as well. Poor Jack. I bet that was sore. He looks a lovely boy and I bet he really enjoys his chicken.
So jack mainly eats dried cat food although give him chicken, beef, scrambled egg etc when i cook it for myself - he gets a treat! I used to buy wet food but it was expensive and honestly he only ever ate the jelly or gravy so was a complete waste of money x
New Subscriber - Just discovered your channel and really enjoyed it, you’ve done incredibly well with the food you bought on a tight budget and have spurred me on to do the same, thank you 🤩. Love your earrings, can I ask where you got them please? Xx
@@TheBudgetFoodie You're welcome. I've noticed Aldi seem to have a better choice of inexpensive vegan products than most other supermarkets that seem to be ridiculously overpriced. Especially Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrison's & Waitrose.
I love your ideas, but I'm cooking for four of us - three totally carnivore males, so might struggle with keeping my budget to £60 (£15 per person) for a week. Love leftovers - our family call them "Orts" as in ought to use up...
@@TheBudgetFoodie I'm a fan of doing big batch cooking of dishes like chilli con carne or curry and then freeze down in family sized portions to save time later, as I'm a lazy mare 🤣
Well done you. Juggling left overs essential when cooking for one. Suggest you keep herbs wrapped in damp kitchen roll in airtight bag/ box in fridge, they last much longer
Please come round to my house and sort me out!!! You put me too shame. I loved your vlog really informative and so interesting! I live in hope!! Thank You xxxxxxxxx
Raw bread: if you have this problem, you can ude a cooking thermometer when you bake :) I always look at the temperature rahter than the cooking time when baking bread. When the temperature is above 95-96 degrees celcius in the middle your bread is cooked :D
I just watched this expecting to see something about budget shopping but you got a shop in for 15 pound and started doing meals that weren’t in the shop you done for 15 pound and also you said how people should make there own bread and how better it is and then proceeded to by 2 reduced price loafs because they was going out of date the food looked lovely but it’s not a budget shop at all

Genuis idea. Thanks for sharing
I have some dried (dehydrated) onions that I am going to add to the recipe.
Well done!

Very creative cooking. Nothing wrong with leftovers, provided they are still OK.
I feel like I’m eating so many but it isn’t so bad, like you say x
Very good rechenda. I havent had butternut squash in ages. The chicken veg and bean soup looked cracking🙌🐈🙋♂️

Add yoghurt to your flatbread 🙂 I’ll definitely try that aubergine dip. Food looks nice. Love your cat I have cats too

Chicken thighs and drumsticks are cheap and mince meat, you like similar food to me 🙂
That's true!
Wonderful. Your budget is for 1 ?
Yes just for me (and I also buy scraps of meat for my cat Jack)
I think you did really well for £15 and using bits and pieces you already had. It all looked healthy as well.
Poor Jack. I bet that was sore. He looks a lovely boy and I bet he really enjoys his chicken.
