Absolutely love the clean uncluttered house. I recently did a huge purging of 30 years of collecting crap and it feels like a giant weight has been lifted off of me and it is so much easier to clean my house with no clutter. Have been following you for a few years but rarely comment. So nice to see another frugal woman. You rock!!
Congratulations! 🎉Can you offer any advice on how you got started?🧐 I have been in my house for 24 years and have too much crap also. Don't know where to begin.😱🤯😖
@@barbarabruce7648 Well I started with a Yard sale. Then donated usable stuff to the goodwill and finally rented dumpster and had it for a week and got rid of broken things, chairs, lamps, old clothes with stains and etc on them. For the past two years I have felt so free and my house is so easy to clean now. It was so bad it got to the point that I didn't own my stuff, it owned me and I was living in Chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome) . Now if someone shows up unexpected I am able to open the door wide and not be ashamed. I am 56. I only keep a few glasses, a few plates, a few cups etc. If you only have a few you wash way more frequently than if you have a cabinet full. I am happier than I have ever been when I had tons of stuff
@@barbarabruce7648 I did a purge once, really a fast. I took one grocery bag a day, no more, no less, for 40 days, and got the stuff out of my house, and don’t go shopping when you drop it off at the thrift store. I’ve had other people declutter my stuff before, but this worked, because I was making all the decisions. I now know how to identify what needs to be gotten rid of, and I’m more selective about what I bring into my home. If I bring something in, I need to get rid of something else (one in one out). God bless!
I agree don’t get rid of the pillars. It will just look like a cavern. They add character and divide the rooms without closing them off and they give you a bit of wall space to put stuff against if you want to? They also give the lounge a bit of cosiness.
The pillars are one of the best features of the home! Don't take them out! Very craftsman and lovely! ❤ ( I know, it's your house, do what you want.) Lol.
I love the charm of the pillars. Very nice home. My husband and I started out in a small 2 bedroom. We loved it. Empty nest and retired, we are ready to go back to a 2 bedroom. The only thing stopping us is our house is paid off and the price of a 2 bedroom makes us choke. We are no longer up to remodeling.
The pillars give your house so much character, like it is a Craftsman and would only make the house seem square, sparse and ordinary! Maybe lose the white and restain them to match the beautiful ceiling? It's a beautiful cute house! ❤️🩷
It is your house and you are free to do what you want. The pillars are part of the Craftsman detailing in the house. Taking them out will diminish the value of your home. And there is no additional function--either in terms of space or light that will be gained by taking them out.
I can't believe you are going to get rid of the pillars. They add so much character and value to the home. May I ask why you are removing them? I love them.
In the olden days there was a mirror in the kitchen so when someone knocked at the door the lady of the house could check her appearance before answering the door. They spent so much more time in the kitchen back then. Your Mom was so pretty. You look like her. 💕
My mom had 8 kids. My sister was a huge help. She took over most of the household chores, sort of like Alice on the Brady Bunch, so no mirror in the kitchen.
Me too. You couldn't pay me to get rid of those beautiful pillars! Those unique things from past days are so gorgeous. They make home feel sturdy. To me anyway. Lol. I was 8 or 9 and my parents bought a 1935 two story farmhouse with a basement. Everything was so Americana and just old. But in great shape. But over the years my parents started getting rid of the old and replacing with newer modern style. It was beautiful but never the same.
Thanks to you I feel "normal". Friends and family think otherwise. I have learned to much from you!!! Please keep up with your videos, They help people like me who do not spend money and are criticized for the choices I make.
I really love what you have done with this house. I know you like the Arizona house better, but I really love what you have done to the California house. And yes, keep the pillars.
PS….my cats used to tear up my flimsy blinds. When I bought my townhouse 13 years ago, I made the builder install the blinds with the thick slats. 13 years later, not a single one of them is broken in anyway. Might be worth the investment to upgrade.
I like the pillars, especially by the front door ... they give a bit of a break from any weather that might be trying to get in ... waving to you from England ...
OMG. Please, please, please keep the original wooden pillars in your Craftsman house! These are important and lovely historical architectural features that will also make your home more valuable. ♥️
Of the pillars are original you may want to keep them. They kind of act like room dividers and look great with plants or something on them and give the rooms and house unique character.
I love your channel. Of course you should do what you want, but I would keep the classic pillars that add charm, character, and resale value.....and you can't/won't find them in a boring, basic new build.
Please leave the pillers in the entry way and at the dining room/living room. It is the original character of the house. Those are craftsman elements, the window in front is a triple window, another craftsman element. I was in real estate for many years. Buyers love the character your house has. I think things in bad condition or ugly should go when renovating but character elements in good condition never should! Also love the built in cabinet in the dining room, another thing buyers love😊 i know you aren’t getting rid of that, just original character of the house. Also love the ceiling in the livingroom, i know you have your reasons for that. Love your channel 😊
Please reconsider removing your pillars. They are so lovely and add such character! I’d love some character in my plain house. I’m in awe of what you’ve done so far!
The art is really great. Please don't remove any of the pillars, they add charm and a nice division of spaces. Just my stupid opinion. Think about it. Thanks
The columns between the dining room and living room gives the place so much character and I would thing increase the value of your home. I do hope you will reconsider. I don't think they shrink the space. Very nice home for you and your babies.
I LOVE the pillars by the entry way . They also help with air control from the front door. Anyway to leave them? I noticed that you barely have any condiments, do you just not like sauces and dressings ?
Terrific house, wonderful size and set up for one or two people or even a small family. Spoken by someone who had a family of four in a thousand square foot condo in California where we lived from 1988-2012. It was tight but workable. Today people have trouble understanding that maybe considering a smaller home would actually make things financially feasible for them, instead of despairing that they’ll never afford a 2,000-plus sq ft house in the suburbs. By the way, I love those pillars in your house, they contribute to that craftsman-style look which has so much more personality than many newer homes today.
Excellent as always! Do yourself a favor, put down a room size tarp or even an old sheet to catch the majority of the insulation that will fall, it will save you time on clean up.
Dang, you are living THE DREAM!! In CALIFORNIA!! My dream since childhood has always been to live in California! The climate can’t be beat! And you have orange trees in your front yard! 🥰 ty for the tour! It gives me (and many I’m sure) hope! I told myself years ago that “Ca is too expensive to live there” but your frugality and past saving SHOW that it’s possible!!! 🙌🏻🙏🏻 also, I really dig how minimalist your home is. Everything has a purpose. 👍🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I too agree with keeping the interior pillars -that’s architectural charm that is so classic and adds to the look of your home -making the improvements are great -but keep the historical charm
Thanks! So tidy and such an example of how clutter can make you crazy. So easy to clean. Inspiring! Love the orange trees just outside the front door. Know you're going to do it anyway but PLEASE don't remove the architectural details.
LOVE the pillars!! If you do take them out, maybe they could be repurposed by someone. Please don't throw them away! Imo, they truly add character to the house, because they don't make woodwork of that quality & artistry anymore-- or if it could be acquired would cost an arm and leg. :))
The pillars are the best part of the house. They add so much character, sets it apart from today's boring homes.
I like the pillars too, but she’s raising the ceiling.
The pillars are so charming! I love them! They add such character, especially being painted white. So darling!
I love them too! The old craftman style. Perhaps the are holding up the roof? Maybe that is load-bearing pillars?
Yeah, it's so sad that she wants to get rid of the pillars.
Please, give the pillars a chance! They are so full of character. Love the craftsman details and front door.
Love your videos! Please don’t get rid of those columns. They are so Arts and Crafts!
Totally, very Frank Loyd Wright
The pillars make the house a craftsman style. For resale value you might want to leave them in.

So true, my gram had a in our kitchen just for that reason.
Doesn't sound like a good time for women
