I can really appreciate you guys and what you’re doing with Ecamm Live. Being a Mac user we know how hard it can be to stream. I like using Zoom for my lives and Ecamm / Zoom seem to be what I’ll be using. I just have to get Ecamm dialed in
It's too bad they missed a trick here, big one as well. The Active speaker window. Let's say you have 6 people on a show (I do a lot of the time) You layout six small windows and one large one that always switches to the active speaker. Only way to get this is through paying even more for Zoom. I get it all free with VDO ninj and OBS but Ecamm does look tempting to my Mac Studio's M Chip.
Great stuff. How does the quality of the guest? It is it being compressed? Would it be possible to get a local recording of the guest as well like the way Riverside does in order to provide a high quality video without the live streaming compression effect the final output?
That would be nice but as they're just logging into a webpage it isn't a local app. Their quality will depend on their internet upload speed and their setup. It's a pretty decent feed though.
I use Ecamm all of the time. But Zoom seems easier for guest screen share, especially if the guest is not familiar with Ecamm. I would prefer to use Ecamm. This demo goes a little too fast, maybe that's the issue. I want to get this dialed in on Eamm.
Yes, there are a few options for effectively sending Ecamm into Zoom but ideally you want to bring your guest into Ecamm. I think you'd love our Ecamm Live Academy! We only run it twice a year and you're in luck, our next one is September 18th! ecammliveacademy.com
Do you have the Sound Levels tab open? Can you see the meter moving for your guest? If not, it's their mic or you've muted them. If yes, you should be hearing them. What speakers are selected? There are several things this could be so this is some basic fault finding. If you're struggling I suggest you ask in the Ecamm community Facebook group, someone will help pretty quick :) facebook.com/groups/1975933215951370
Such helpful videos, thank you! We're sharing a powerpoint with 3 people & recording to sell as an on demand training later. We want to include camera views + audio of the questions and role play exercises of the guests. It seems this interview mode might be a valuable approach to that. Does the interview function easily allow for animations as we share slides? We have some complex ideas best taught one small piece at a time so really don't feel like we can make those static.
I had a problem with the interview mode… I wasn’t able to bring the sound from the interviewee out of the speakers for those in attendance could hear… I have a simple setup with MacBook, caldigit docking station and a mixer connected by USB… maybe you can offer some advise please…. Thanks
Adrian, great video as usual … you mentioned you have a worksheet to give your interviewee in advance to help them be prepared -- I don't see a link to that. Is that available?
My guest can only see the two cameras. By click the arrows it just switches one camera to the center. When I'm recording they cannot see the presentation. If I go into preview more, then they can see, but i am not recording the actual live feed. HELP!
Preview mode is where you're getting stuck I think. Definitely make sure that's off. Your guest has two options, to see you or the feed. If they are seeing both of you but not the feed I think you must be in Preview mode and you're looking at the preview, while he's looking at the actual feed. I hope that makes sense.
I have since experimented with my wife's iphone and my ipad. No problem seeing the presentation. So I'm thinking it is a browser problem on my guests computer.@@AdrianSalisbury
Now that Zoom integrates with Ecaam, is it better to hold the interview the way you do it in this video - directly in ecam - or is it better to use the zoom integration? Can you do the interview without wearing headphones?
Personally, if you're streaming out to somewhere other than Zoom I am still using the interview mode rather than Zoom as your guest can see a feed of the chat rather than sitting in Zoom on their own. You can do an interview without headphones if you use either Ecamm's Echo Cancellation or Zoom's version.
I've been using Ecamm a while, and really like it. However, I have recently added a producer to my show. She takes care of booking, sponsors, and much more - and also sits in the green room during recordings. I'd like to be able to have her turn on her mic when I address her during a podcast... like Jamie on Joe Rogan "hey, Sarah, look up ______", or even control "stuff" during interviews. Is there a way to give he those options?
Hour 6 on Crash Course Ecamm, this is awesome!! Is there a way for the interview guest to see the scene we are in, like if we have a pdf pop up they can see it and go over it with me?
How do I send the recording after the fact? Like if my interview person wants it for their channel but doesn’t have Ecamm? How do I email it? It’s a large file will it just go will they be able to access it?
You should stream straight to a website like UA-cam or Twitch, so it saves the recording after, then you can share the youtube link. ECamm is just responsible for handling multiple assets. Not recording. You can also option to save it internally to your hard drive, but then you’ll have to upload it to a CDN or some cloud server to share the link.
Hi Adrian, I tried to use Ecamm to do a recorded interview today but the guest was really blurry. We ended up using Zoom which didn't give us all the great features of Ecamm. Have you ever had this happen or do you know how to fix it? Thank you.
@@AdrianSalisbury Thank you for your reply. Yes, we both checked our speed and it was good. I have since read that this is quite a common problem with Ecamm.
Hey Adrian thanks for all your videos. My guest can't see my own screen share when I use scenes. Is this something that you've come across a lot? I am only recording (not going live). I am on the starter plan with time left on the interview feature. Any advice?
There's a little icon next to their thumbnail on the interviewee's screen that switches from their screen to the live feed. I think that's what they're missing. Are they on Chrome? Sometime other browsers can be buggy.
@@AdrianSalisbury I've tried many times and all the little switch does is show me the different cameras. I just can't get my interviewee to see the different overlays and designs that I've made. As a host I can see it but my guest has no idea what I'm looking at. Any help would be appreciated.
@@AdrianSalisbury I found it. It's in: Preferences --> Interview --> Guest View: [Broadcast]. It's on [Host Camera] by default. Thanks for all your help!
When you use Ecamm for recording an interview, is it possible to have local recording, so better audio/video quality (like in Streamyard or Riverside) ?
@@AdrianSalisbury No, I mean, the technique of audio/video download from the side of the interviewee, like Riverside is doing and recently Streamyard too.
How much time in advance i can send that link. If the interview is 24 or 48 hours after. Would the link work after that time. I mean i guess i have to have open ECAMM. But does it work that way?
Is there a way to isolate two guests audio for the separate scenes? For e.g - I want to remote produce so Ecamm will be on my computer. How do I bring in the podcast host and the guest and then isolate their audio for Host Scene and then Guest Scene?
Thanks for this video... preparing for my first interview. thanks a lot.
Awesome sauce, Adrian 🙌 I haven't used Ecamm Live for ages, but I'm back in the saddle and needed this today. Thank you, sir!
I'm SOLD!!! Looks like a perfect fit for my ZOOM Men's Bible Study - Thank you, Adrian!
Awesome tips, and I love this feature in Ecamm. Going to try a show this way next week. Thanks, Adrian!

When adjusting the hue on the guest, as well as zooming in - can this be done AFTER the interview/recording?
No, it’s not an editing tool, just for the recording
Is this available on all tiers
