Funny thing about Morph is that the fact that he's Nonbinary is never ever brought up, mentioned or hinted, and his "interesting buddy relationship with Wolverine" is just him joking from time to time to ease the tension or just generic banter between team members
It's the way inclusion should be handled. It should be subtle but not pushed in people's faces
The thing is Morph (a fictional character) I can buy being called be Non Binary. He/She/It I think can functionally become anything. Like down to the DNA level I believe. Ermac in Mortal Kombat can be They/Them since "He" is the combination of many souls. Ermac had a line in one game "We are many you are but one" true... They interviewed the guy that played Morph who referred to him as he multiple times in the interview that he isn't called Non Binary because that wasn't even a thing in 1997. This show uses a lot of parallels to current events, but doesn't slap you in the face with direct comparisons. I ask myself this question when I watch it "Would this have actually been a storyline or scene that would have been in the show in 1997?" Yeah I could see it, I don't see it out of place. There was only 1 line in episode 2 that was a little too on the nose, but other than that it has been pretty good. Magneto is pretty awesome on this show BTW. His whole arc is great. I can imagine where he goes the next two episodes.
Because he's not "non binary", it's a man who shapeshifts. Marvel's forced retroactive change makes no sense. It's the same thing with the Nightcrawler/Mystique changes.
The whole non binary morph thing was just a terrible marketing decision. They must have known it would cause controversy but they couldn't help but virtue signal.
It's never mentioned in the show at all, but it is in the end credits. My guess is that whole "nonbinary" thing was tacked on by Disney execs in order to pander.
Honestly I don't care if the show is good or not these days. I'm done with Disney and I refuse to support a company that hates its fans more than anything

It was complete pointless pandering for Disney to come out and announce that Morph is non binary. It wasnt brought up at all during the entire season.
Morph is a male mutant who can shape shift, no matter what Disney or current Marvel are now trying to push in the current comics. I know they introduced retroactive changes to characters like Morph or Nightcrawler - whose "father" is now Mystique - but these were all made by the current radical "woke" activists in control of Marvel. These changes are all due to their own politics and nothing to do with legitimate creative reasons or with the themes of the franchise. They have no respect to previous established lore.
Disney is learning how to provide entertainment... hooks the fans and then later push woke agendas.
Morph and mystique are still male and females the fact people are calling them nonbinary is fucking dumb if mystique changed to a male and had sex with a woman she is still a woman it wouldn't change anything and she still couldn't get anyone pregnant
It wasn't pointless because it got people talking about the show and crying about it.
These companies utilize outrage marketing, if you haven't noticed yet.
They actually did it with Mystique in the comics though. They retconned her to be Nightcrawler's father.

It takes a man to look back at his previous opinions and re-evaluate them. The show surprised many of us who've seen it. If you want a critical opinion on it, despite liking the show here goes. The animation in some scenes, especially in earlier episodes, is choppy. Not bad like Season 5 of the original X-men cartoon, but very noticeable to someone who LOVES animation. Writing has been pretty good and at points great. I'm just hoping the show doesn't make a terrible turn that makes it unwatchable. Current year only makes me more skeptical and at points cynical.
This is what Disney will never do: have a laugh and admit an error(s) were made.

I was obsessed with the show in the 90’s as a kid and can say they shocked me with how good of a job they did with ‘97. Was awesome. Let’s just hope season 2 is as good and given the setup I’m hopeful it will be

Just finished Episode 9. Not to spoil anything, but they are adapting various events of the comic. I personally am not into comics and never read X-Men, but I know of certain things that happened to characters. They happen on this show. If you read the comics back then you will recognize them. Disney being Disney it can go wrong in future seasons. They've earned the skepticism. However, for this first season at least, it's the X-Men you love. I don't nitpick on animation. That's not an issue for me. The story, the plot, the events, it's all good. It's X-Men, not X-Women, not X-"Men", not Y-What.
I can confirm the show is great! I am far from a Disney shill. My channel primarily covers source material and lore AND this show holds up. My biggest complaint, it burns through storylines superfast. Would have liked to see long established arcs. That being said I highly doubt Disney Marvel will learn from this show AT ALL...
Too bad the number of viewers has gone done _because_ of the fast storylines. That's one of the complaints I've been hearing.
Cartoons should always be at least 15 episode seasons.
There definitely are woke moments in X-Men 97 (like in one episode a guy mentions a "white lie" that was used to destroy Native Americans, in another Captain America refuses to help Rogue to track Gayrich). But the overall story is solid. I wonder if that DeMayo guy, whom Disney fired, was responsible for keeping sh!t together (after all, he spoke in favor of being faithful to the lore and took Cavil's side when Cavil left The Witcher).
It has a fuw moments where i think its low key woke but most of the episodes are good

Simply put, they are heroes that Stan created that didn't require a huge explanation for how they got their powers...Nothing more.
But all of that type of stuff is in the comics and in the 92 cartoon, the source material was respected in this case and was well done.

X-Men 97 is great because they use the good old MCU formula. They adapted great comic book storylines for TV while respecting the lore and the caracters. By the way, they are 2 episodes to go in the first season.

I too have been surprised about how good the X-Men 97 has been perhaps that's the reason why the showrunner was fired he knew what he was doing all along, he really was a fan and Disney doesn't like fans. But after this I expect Disney to run off course because they always like to ruin a good thing even if it's benefiting them
After that Spider-Man cameo I hope we can get a revival of that show.
