The sound of these Real IndyCars are so intoxicating to my ears and brain. High strung, high horsepower, and beautiful to look at. And cigarette and beer sponsers. Love it all.
90s CART was actually very very good. Fastest cars, best, closest racing, great noise and they look fantastic! First time seeing this era of CART and when I looked at race results they really were good, and I've got to say it seems more exciting than current day Indycar. Great stuff
@@andrewwinslow9315 Richie Hearn does have a win, IRL at Vegas in 96, though nobody saw thanks to tv ending the broadcast early. The 5th driver who never won is Dennis Vitolo.
bclautz yep, I was watching a couple classic F1 races from 1999 and he was being brought up as a replacement for Coulthard at McLaren. Looked so promising.
What a cross over year. Just hearing the list of names called out gives me goosebumps! And what could have been with Greg Moore, I heard myself say his name out loud.
There's a documentary on UA-cam about Mr Greg Moore R.I.P I can't remember who made it but just search his name up on UA-cam greg Moore and you should find one 🙂👍
It's a shame that the open wheel split was around this time. Michael should have had shots to win from 1996 to 1999 at Indy. Also Greg Moore should have had a chance to race at Indy but the politics of the American open wheel series of CART and IRL/ Tony George/IMS were high and he died during the split. NASCAR is not as good as it was and IMS should get rid of the Brickyard 400 due to very low attendance for the past years. Indycar is starting to look so much better than NASCAR in my mind.
@@danielhenderson8316 Agree, Ribeiro wasn't a bad driver, but at Penske specialy compared to Unser Jr. painfull to watch. On the other hand at Tasman he was superb.

Proper Racing😊
What racecars are supposed to sound like. God, I miss this series. So glad I was able to immerse myself in it and attend several races in person.

24 out of the 29 drivers in this field won at least 1 champ car/indycar race
Five that did not, Arnd Meier, J.J. Lehto, P.J. Jones, Richie Hearn, and 'King Hiro

Am I the only one who thinks the combination of Varsha and Sullivan in the commentary booth worked really well?
No you're not!
It was one of the better combinations. For pure nostalgia, I'd still take Paul Page and Derek Daly, but Varsha and Hollywood Danny weren't bad at all.
@@zlinedavid I was always partial to Paul Page and Bobby Unser
@@HK_Productions47 can't lose with any of em!
Ohh look at this!
RIP Greg Moore
At the time of his death. IMO he was the fastest driver in Open Wheel Racing.

GullyGamingHD if he would have done what I thought he would done at penske. he might have been in f1 with kimi at McLaren
Greg Moore being an absolute legend as usual.
First Indycar race I ever saw. Been a fan ever since!
These cars are all beautiful. Thanks for uploading so much good stuff, IndyCar!

I hope they make a documentary about Greg Moore someday, a great driver gone too soon. It'd be great to see a new generation introduced to Greg!

thanks Indycar for uploading another classic race :)
CART ruled! Look at those stands. Packed! Sponsorship out of the wazoo. Killer TV ratings.
Those cars were so cool...Good Old days!thnks for sharing this fantastic race
14 engine and chassis combos...wow!
Engine, chassis and tyres! Without the tyres it would be less.

And Zanardi was a legend that i feel will never be remembered outside of obsessive race fans
Did Scott Pruett's family ever come to the races lol
Estes carros são os mais bonitos de todos os formulas, os novos devem seguir essa linha.
Really missing Greg Moore...... :(
Greg was a bloody beast there!
Rip, Greg Moore
First top level open wheel start for Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan
Great upload. Thanks Indycar.
Disclaimer: This is the 1998 Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami...
RIP Ole Red Gloves.
An elite core of drivers this time.
Good to hear Bob Varsha calling an Indycar Race again.
See you up front. Still sad for Greg. :-(
That Castro-Neves kid seems fairly good, I wonder whatever happened to him...
The shame of that is if Moore wasnt killed, he not Castro-Neves would have been at Penske.
First race of Kanaan and Crashtroneves. Both of them were crashed their debut IndyCar race.
Thanks for the upload indycar!
what a time it was. very talented drivers and a "baby" tony kanaan. man, 18 years in the serie
Please just load the 1998 CART season!!!!!
Homestead is now a new version of the old Atlanta Motor Speedway. I guess.
Dennis Vitolo isn't brazilian, he is american. At 11:08
Did Indycar (IRL) or IMS buy the tape library of CART?
Champ Car (CART) went bankrupt and merged with Indycar in 2008. Indycar now owns their history and video archives.
Man, i miss Bob Varsha
7:27 Flyers GOAT Eric Lindros
The depth of the field is insane.
Wished we had this quality of racing today.
We just don't have it anymore at this level.
The racing quality is still there. It's missing the technical diversity.
Alex zanardi lost both his legs in 2001 and he had a accident earlier this year
Good times CART!
Homestead from 1998-2003 with sweeping turns were great until 2004 and beyond ruined the track...
you think that's bad - see what NASCAR did to Phoenix
anyone gettin thirsty? bud - miller lite- tecate !
Bill Wok And now we got Dad's Root Beer, Snapple/Sunkist, & Fuzzy's Vodka. #WhereHaveTheBeerCompaniesGone
I could go for a smoke.. Players, Hollywood, Marlboro, Kool..
Would they need to lift it on a track as flat as this in a modern car? Not sure. And they would probably run the road wings, not superspeedway.
Dennis Vitolo was presented as brazilian. WTF?
He was so slow the US didn't him representing the country anymore
7:06 1:09:32
(1:04:18)
Indycar, just make this happen again!
red gloves forever.
Ribeiro was one of the worst Penske drivers, luckily for him in 1999 Tarso Marques was even worse
Ribeiro wasn't a bad driver, but at this point anyone on Goodyear tires could forget about being a threat for a race win.
