      Why use cans when you can make such a healthy & easy recipe…… Besides we DO NOT SOAK LENTILS….. WASH & boil straight away

    Great recipe but I think you forgot the spices that my Lebanese friends use in this dish. I discovered Lebanese food about nine years ago. It’s simply divine. It beats Italian and French food anytime with its wide variety of flavors, spices and herbs.. Greetings from Norway.

      Hey there. Not forgotten at all. I’m of Lebanese heritage and this is how we make it. A true mujadara recipes requires zero no spices as the flavour comes from the ingredients. Try it. You’ll love it

      Mjadarah doesn't require any spices other than salt and a tiny dash of black pepper if desired.

      There's no spices on that recipe only cumin and black pep. if you want it's an optional only. And salt ofcourse

      Mjadarah is amazing with any appetizer like pickles, salads, any kind of olives. The variety is very wide

      A true mujadara doesn't need spices, the flavours are from the lentils and onion, which are brought out by the salt. You'll be surprised how much flavour there is!

    I mix brown rice and green lentils together and even without the onions I think it tastes good and is filling too. I am not sure what EVDO is but I have not had much luck with frying onions in vegetable oil haha

      Hey George, no offence taken. Food is what you make it to be. So good on you for making it your version. EVOO is extra virgin olive oil.
      When it comes to frying onion, patience is the key. It takes a while to crisp up. Don’t give up.

      Hi. Have you ever thought of using already fried onions in the bag? You find them in almost every supermarket nowadays. I prefer homemade fried onions but sometimes if I'm in a hurry I use the ones in the bag, try them out you may like them.

    In the onions stir some green chillies and a little whole spices with ginger garlic and fresh mint, takes it to another level..

      @@PlantBasedFolk Cinnamon, cardomom, Caraway seeds, bay leaves few peppercorns.. Saute them in butter before adding onions and green chillies, then ginger garlic followed by mint leaves..

      We eat the same dish in Cyprus (minus the crispy onion topping) with yoghurt. A very satisfying dish.

    can this recipe taste good with red lentils?

      It’s always made with brown lentils. Red lentils will most likely turn mushy. Good luck 🤞

    The Sauce is missing. I used to work at a Restaurant and the head cook was Mama. It was all of her recipes she gave to her sons. She is from Lebanon .

    It is similar to ' khichdi' indian recipe. But not the same.In khichdi lentils are not fried.

      Eat it with a nicely dressed garden salad or make cucumber and mint yogurt sauce to go with it. I wish I had yogurt right now, I have Mujadara but no yogurt.

      This is Moudardara. If you put it in a blender it becomes Moujadara, however, in Trablus Mjoudara is Moudaradara and Moudardara is Moujadara so chef's recipe is correct bass only in Tripoli. :P
