Top 5 Advance Wars COs

- Опубліковано 5 лип 2021
- With so many Commanding Officers (COs for short) to choose from in the Advance Wars series, deciding upon your favourites is a tall order.
And after mulling over this topic for longer than I care to admit, I thought why not make a video about it?
I'll only be including COs from the four Advance Wars games I've played: Advance Wars 1, Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, Advance Wars: Dual Strike and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. I haven't played any of the Japan-exclusive Famicom Wars games, and I'm afraid my time machine doesn't allow me to bring back currently-unreleased Advance Wars games from the future.
Bear in mind these choices are all based on my own personal preferences, and I am in no way implying these COs are factually the best.

There was a lot more Days of Ruin here than I was expecting. It usually gets no love at all
Waylin oh god. Fuckin Waylon
Still have PTSD from that last fight against him in the story
Shame ,I like the change tho
I'm glad! DoR slaps hard in all aspects.
I played DoR to the end and it was good, I just don't like the drastic change of spirit from other AW games. Like the premise is dark and edgy.
@@mistersebaa6245 Yep, and in contrasting it with contemporary games of its time, it seems they were going for the muted colors theme more than an actual dark storyline. Like it was de rigueur due to the influence of Gears of War and suchlike.
As opposed to contributing to a game’s atmosphere, like Faxanadu did decades prior.
I love how the announcement of the remakes has got a resurgence of interest in this series.
You god damn right :)
Hopefully it snowballs into something greater for the series moving forward.
The interest never died, it was resting... until now.
That makes 3 good game series to get remaked
Danganronpa
Miitopia
And now advance wars
I never played an Advance Wars game before, but i really want to play them, they look pretty good, I also like the character designs
When I played days of ruin I was 100% convinced Tabitha simply wanted to mess with Will in the war room, someone who knows where to aim a 8 damage missile and how to make a light tank be able to fight a medium tank head to head can only be doing that to mess with someone.
She's totally into him lol
I had the very same kind of idea. Either she is just teasing Will, to make him lose focus, or is actually into him, and trying to direct his attention to her.
Another great thing about Sasha's ability is that you get a 10% boost to attack and defence whenever someone uses a power, so not only will she have a good day to day ability, not only will she deny annoying CO powers, but she also buffs herself every other turn. Even kittens truly do have claws
The only downside is that the cost increases each time you pop a power. If a game goes on for too long, you’ll start hurt as you require 60% more monetary damage to get back to another Market Crash. Of course, the cheap price helps offset that. If you go fast enough, then you’ll never reach the situation where the opponent can finally pop their power (and possibly never for expensive opponents no matter how long the battle goes).
"Bro get Trust Fund'ed" and everyone died since it's broken
Let's hope this wonderful game series gets more love and recognition after the remake.
So glad Advance Wars is coming back, it’s gonna be sick to see Sturm in glorious HD
I can't wait to see what his CO power looks like animated
If the series is getting a remaster I suppose we can expect to see another Advance Wars game somewhere down the line?
It kinda felt like Dual Strike ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.
@@M4A1BestGirl Yeah. I wonder if they’ll ignore the plot of Dual Strike. I hope they don’t, because I want to see how they explain the potholes in it with a sequel, and because good guy Lash could lead to some interesting gameplay mechanics.
Animated smoke laugh
Which version of Sturm do you guys like? Personally I love his AW1 Design, he’s like if a Snifit became Darth Vader.
I’m playing AW for the first time and I already hate fighting Eagle with every fiber of my being
I won't say I'm a pro but I've been playing AW for 7 years, so here's a few tips for fighting Eagle(He is my main, but I wouldn't say he's really hat good compared to most other co's ). When you start the game you most likely have the advantage as Eagle doesn't really gave any other advantage than his air units, so if you're playing a CO with a any decent day to day power you have the early advantage. If there is an air port usually Eagle players will build only B-copters for most of the game. You should therefore have a AA ready decently early. Most Eagle players will counteract this by not building any B-Copters before a early-mid game. as you know eagle has better air units so you will most likely build a AA and eagle knows you will build it so he might build tanks instead to counteract you spending money on AA. Anyway always remember to have an AA ready at all times when facing him. As for his super power/power(Aw1)(a good eagle never uses little power), it's really good and prolly one of the best powers in the game. His power takes super long time to charge so be sure to use your super power right before he uses his Lightning Strike, if u use your power before him you will take out a lot of his units and his power will get weakened effect. But if he has a lot of units the game can take a 180° turn instantly and even one Lightning strike can heavily cripple the enemy. That's all you need to keep in mind for fighting him hope this helps.
@@theultimatetactician1712 thanks for the advice!
@@Logans_Login oh np man, I love helping the community. Glad you're playing Aw :)
Glad to see new players getting interested too. Another advice: careful not to build too much fighters. They're useless once Eagle (or any CO) stops building air units.
@@robin_emblem8562 yh that's a good tip. I just really never see fighters being used that often so I forgot to mention it.
The top 1 CO... is a waifu, understandable (:
And here I was cheering for you to put up Sturm as your top CO.
I was more so expecting Caulder after he kept mentioning him during Tabitha's placement
same lol
14:43 "you cant fight in here, this is the war room"
Sasha and Sonja will always have a special place in my heart.
Edit: I forgot that I also loked Grit because of his attitude and his theme.
Colin is freaking great. Just overflow the town with fodder and send in a Medium Tank earlier than what should he allowed
aka "cheating"
@@Paulunatr Colin does often feel like cheating, let's be honest, with how much gold he earns
@@megatennepster3833
Ahoy, spongeboy me bob. Colin is about to completely run me over because he only clogged the point of conflict with Infantry, Mechs, and APCs for 8 turns, snowballed 80 grand, and just built 4 neotanks and two battleships ackackackack.
You sir, should play Hachi. Like the only commander could beat Hachi was Sterm but he's no longer in Dual Strike. Colin+Sasha was cool and all but Hachi+Sasha is not even fun. Hachi just make sure YOU FEEL SORRY FOR EVEN BEING BORN IN THIS WORLD.
@@zhaoyun255 heh, no wonder hachi is usually banned
It’s amazing how the announcement of Reboot Camp has generated lots of interest in the series and getting all these videos recommended to me is what I live for!
i thought the title of the video said top 5 advance wars *ocs* and i nearly had a stroke
Never played Advance Wars, can't wait for the Switch reboot to finally get my first taste of it.
My favourite CO from what I've seen though is Kanbei; I've always liked the idea of quality over quantity.
"Why else do you think I go on about Rulue all the time?" really? Haven't seen you do that enough for it to feel like "all the time". Maybe I should be proven wrong with a series of Rulue appreciation videos, n-not that I'd want such thing, why would I?
Idk what you're referring to, but you're right, MAYBE you should be proven wrong :)
More puyo content from git would be great I need those videos
Grit likes cats, that's enough for me. ;)

"It's very gratifying to affect a battle's outcome with just one unit"
Ah, Fire Emblem! x)
Unfortunately for me, being french, there's a particular song that has ruined (or enhanced) Andy as a name for me. I always think of it when I hear his theme and I make sure to play it whenever I fight his clones in some of the games. xD
I'll always have a softspot for Sasha, as she's a bit of a dead ringer for one of my bigger crushes, back in the day.
For a personal pick, I'd probably go with Lily/Penny, from Dark Conflict/Days of Ruin. I mean, how badass is it that she's the only CO in that game who actually has a passive ability like the previous games? x)
ANDY DIS-MOI OUI WOOOOOOH CHOU

It's funny how most of the other AW videos in the description are part of the worst levels ever series.
My favourite has to be Sensei, I just love his theme, and Mech spam is always fun.
His theme is great, too. Very fitting for his character.
I knew that Waylon was going to be one of your favorites. The moment I clicked the video, solely cause of the ''Worse Level Ever Number 23''.
Colin is my loyal pick, just stalemate/put pressure until a climatic victory.
Great list! My personal favourite has always been Sami, not only do I like her personality and think her design is cute without being overly so, but I also just love nuking the enemy with the troops you can get right at the start, ie mechs. I know Sensei can do this too and probably better, but Sami did it first and she can also instantly cap properties so I’m still gonna go with her
If an Advance Wars Character were to get into Smash here’s how I’d imagine they would function.
We could have Andy, Max and Sami in Smash either as a Trio or in their own slots, able use weapons like Snake, ride Tanks, APC, Battle Copters, summoning Infantry and Tanks ala the Assist Trophy like Duck Hunt does with Wild Gunmen. They would would have a Gold Mechanic like Hero’s MP meter where if you land hits on an opponent you gain gold, and then you can pull up a list of units to summon into Battle, perfectly representing Advance Wars resource management gameplay aspect. There’s so much you can do with an AW character in Smash.
I would hope that the skins are just different COs from different nations with minor buffs and debuffs to different powers. Same base set for each skin with minor tweaks to what they can do, eg Green Earth is represented by Eagle and Jess. Eagle's recovery move and air attacks are a bit better than the others, Jess' ground attacks are a bit more powerful and items she uses have more uses but she's got weaker air attacks and air recoveries. Could do two from each nation, though personally I think Yellow Comet's roster is a bit weak and they could trade one CO to let Black Hole have a representative.
I love grit for his theme
It screams I have my feet up and Im jist gonna frag everything that my artillery can reach. (And make no mistake he certainly can
Waylon is such a piece of work, and I love that, It's fun in one of these sorts of games being given carte blanche to be a POS for fun and profit sometimes.
Kanbei has always been my favorite, but nowadays I feel bad for using him because he’s broken as fuck.
He was only broken in AW2, unless someone want to prove me wrong.
Great choices for me personally it has to be these bunch of kooks:
5. Waylon: Summed up perfectly in the video, a defensive air CO is a really interesting and fun take on it.
4. Colin: Is he overpower? Yes. Is he fun? Hell yes! I love swarm based characters and the idea of power of numbers is a playstyle i really enjoy. Theme is great and his personality of a person trying to show how cool they are to their superiors is endearing.
3. Flak: The absolute bottom of the barrel if playing competitively, but damn if i don't love him. The brute characters always give me joy, and his conversations with the other CO's are great. I am a gambler at heart so his Good luck, Bad luck shtick is what a crave. Packaged with one of the best themes make him amazing, even if he is a poor mans Nell.
2. Sturm: Another power trip and an incredibly intimidating foe, the leader of Black Hole takes second place.
Blatantly unfair characters are fun to play as here and there, and with meteors and terrain nullifying abilities, he is a beast. Combined with a killer theme, and two great designs i can't wait to see what they do to him in the remake.
1. Olaf: Just the best. Great theme, grea character, great design, great interactions. I could go on and on. I just hope that anyone who has played the games gets were i am going at, because i don't think i can do him justice.
@@kentknightofcaelin4537 Yes comrade! The world will snow and we will be joyous.
you're making me consider buying the remake
Spoilers for 5, but Waylon's power is stupid busted if you actually do the math. His CO unit (if an air unit, duh) has 330% BONUS defense when he uses Wingman. A Will CO Anti-air will do about 1/3 of what a NORMAL AA would do with no bonuses either side. Also remember that power's make the CO zone global so all air units get a bonus 310% minimum bonus to defense.
Happy to see you talking about advance wars. I was actually watching some of your old videos about it.
Sasha in 2v2 matches is illegal as all hell. Market Crash screws over your opponent while your ally still use their CO powers. Some of duel strikes 3v1 and 2v1 missions are a cake walk with Sasha.
Remake needs to
+ Buff Max
+ Have Online play without broken characters (Hachi, Colin, Nell, Javier in the Next Game)
+ Faster and less derpy Animation
+ Either use a Super CO power or not for Both Games
+ Speed up the Battle Animation
+ Allow Pixalized Art as a option
+ Have Enemy Infantry and Mech AI units attack (never did in 1)
+ Hold Expressional changes until a unit is Atleast 3 HP under the foes units.
+ Have Cruisers be able to attack ALL navel units (they didn’t in one)
I also wonder if we’ll be able to enter our name and be integrated into the battles like in the first game? Totally agreed with all these points btw.
It'd be nice to have Fire Emblem's Danger Zone feature too
The biggest bosst happens in dual strike where candy/kindle (depends on localization) can get a theoretical +307% attack if she has the max amount of cities (59/60-enemy hq) and the unit is on a city while the super Co power activated
Days of Ruin is probably my favorite AW game
AW2 is my favorite, I wish I could try Dual strike tho
@@TKHedgeHog just emulate it bro

In the german version Grit is called Kid to reference his cowboy theme even further. His co powers are also called "Sharp shot" and "Hail of bullets" respectively.^^
I don’t think there is a independent German version it’s on an eu version
And the spanish version the names of some characters (especially the Black Hole COs) are changed. Flak is called Helmut,Hawke is called Mavevik and the girl of Black Hole is called Kat (and Eagle is called Aguila then is Eagle but in spanish).

Aside from Eagle, IIRC, all the european versions do that, actually.
@@VonFirflirch ohhhh ok
@@sergiomendoza5165 Neat, didn`t knew that actually. I knew only about Days of Ruin and its name changes.
Oh when I saw number 1:
Oh, not surprised. Worst Levels Ever did make me expect something like this.
I mean there was a decent amount of COs that had no real weaknesses while having more for them day-to-day than Andy, like Drake, Olaf, Lash, Nell, Hachi, Strum, and honestly since naval units are so bad, Eagle pretty much has no downfall in terms of day to day.
Drake's weakness though is that his Air units perform poorer; he's like an reverse Eagle.
But since naval units are so bad as you said, his weakness is more prominent than his strength.
Advance Wars is finally coming back! It's been so long...
Here's my top 5. (Warning: Days of Ruin spoilers)
*5: Drake*
Yeah, he's normally hit hard by navies being too expensive for the use you get out of them, but sometimes fast Landers can be a big help for a ground war, and Tsunami can come in handy sometimes- particularly against enemy Fighters or Subs, which eat up fuel fast. His theme song is great, too.
*4: Flak*
"Lord Flak, the microphone..." "Shut up! Too complicated!"
He's purposely bad, being prone to being screwed by the RNG on the same system that keeps killing your Fire Emblem dudes with 1% crits, but he's also a giant ham and a total idiot and it's hilarious.
*3: Caulder*
The lunatic behind everything. You see Caulder's schemes going on in the background throughout the game, and every time he shows up (besides the times Forsythe says "wtf no"), at least one scary new thing starts threatening Brenner's Wolves, often in gameplay as well as story (War Tanks, the Talon Gun, the Great Owl, and ESPECIALLY the Nest). He's built up through the entire game and damned if it doesn't pay off.
*2: Grit*
So good Advance Wars By Web usually bans him, and a load of fun to use. Especially in missions like Tanks!!! (Which should really be called "Mechs!!!" since Adder's two Mechs are the only almost-legitimate threat to your forces.) His dialogue is great- I end up sayin' every line outta his mouth out loud any time I mosey through the campaign, and there ain't no exceptions.
*1: Lin*
Gameplay wise, she's solid- boost to ground units, and her CO power is basically Sonja's, but in a game where flying within range of a hidden tile shows the tile. Story wise, she's a great foil to basically every character around her, and plays off the other characters excellently. The cherry on top: she aired out Greyfield's skull.
Jake may not be the best CO, but he has the best track, hands down
Finally someone says it.
His theme is straight fire
Oh man 😭 I must really be the only one who thinks his theme is the worst
@@rocketfuel7340 I don't like his theme but hey its not that bad
Never ever. Sensei forever
I like Sasha too but I dislike how her abilities were basically invented so she could play support CO to broken boy Colin as she's pretty mediocre by herself. As if Colin needed to be more OP.
This made me think... Is Sasha's super the weakest in the game? It sounds extremely weak.
@@theblackantonio Market Crash is all you need while you keep building up more funds. The thing about Sasha is you will be fighting a close to evenly matched game the whole time.
Enemy CO's will still get their powers every 3-5 days in the Early/Mid game, but if Sasha goes even past say day 25 or so "with enough cash" she can nearly shut down most CO Powers for good.
@@sherrdreamz7232 I heard she is a perfect counter to Von Bolt 😂
@@theblackantonio I wouldn't play the campaign without her. When going 2v2 she kills a chunk of the enemies powers while her ally still gets theirs. She always made every single map shorter in the campaign aswell.
Hahha i loled so hard at the "what's an airport, again?" XD
Amazing video
Sasha and Colin were my favorites in gameplay terms! And Sasha's theme is great
Regarding Waylon, I think offense is one of the less useful boost stats on an air CO, since it can just result in overkill. Range and movement speed are some of the most useful.
Defense is just a very strong buff in general. +20% Offense is NOT balanced compared to +20% defense. If a unit with 120% attack attacks a unit with 20% defense, the result isn't 100, but more like 95ish, and stacking more defense gets stronger and stronger; the tipping point tends to be around 30-40%, when units start countering harder than they were attacked for, that starts the defense snowball.
It's especially nasty on air units, though, since you generally need specialized units to deal with enemy air, so an increase to the survivability of those air units means that your opponent has to buy more of those specialized units, meaning less funds to do more productive things. 1 AA gun isn't enough to support a point of conflict, you need two, and that means one less tank, or two less Mechs or something. And forcing poor use of funds is how points of conflict are won.
@@aprinnyonbreak1290 the thing about this is that attack/defense formula was changed in DoR. it now gives diminishing returns the more defense you stack. Attack and defense bonuses also cancel eachother out now. its the reason why Waylon gives a +270% def boost on his COP. in the previous 3 games that would be full on invincibility, but in DoR its only about a 75% defense reduction
I wonder what's your Top 5 LEAST Favourite Advance Wars CO's?
He doesn't like CO powers being used against him. So, Adder, Adder, Adder, Adder and Koal?
A pleasant surprise to see another advanced wars video.
Holy shit advance wars is getting more interesting for me again
I hope the dual strike cos outside of von bolt are unlockable characters for multiplayer in boot camp, i wanna hear their themes in hd.
Not gonna happen but maybe we'll get reboot of DS.
Even kittens have claws 💅 what a queen...
My thoughts are the same for Grit. There's nothing more fun in the game than being able to attack any space in the map with a single well positioned unit (and yes, those red blocks are pure dopamine). He is also my favourite type of character with his laid back attitude but still caring. That Waylon guy looks amazing too. I love greedy bastards and he seems fun to play with. As soon as I get back my r4 I am going to play Days of ruins
Never played advance wars but I love your vids, keep up the good work
I knew he'd be back for more.
I'm glad that you're back with more AW content, regardless what it is.
As a European I find the American names of the Dark Conflict COs quite strange, especially Cattleya's (Isabella), since her name is supposed to reference the flower Ed/Will gives her when they first meet at the start of the game.
Isn't the writing pretty different too? Like the american dialogue goes way harder on the humor, I believe, perhaps even too much, IIRC.
It's the Cattleya Isabella, so in the US version, Ed/Will tells her to chose Isabella since it's a more traditional name. IMO that explains the main difference between the two version pretty well. From what I get, DC is closer to the original text, while DoR is more of an adaptation.
What's up with the surge in Advance Wars content on my feed.
Not that I complain.
First two are being remade
Reboot on Switch.
It’s hard to believe that Advance Wars is coming back and all these video recommendations are great ways to generate talks and discussions while showing Nintendo that people still love and want more AW games.
@@jswizzle3037 didn't think it would rejuvinate it so much.
I am a huge fan of Sensei personally. Flooding the ennemy with infantry, while destroying everything else with B Copter is fun.
Makes me want to pick up my Dual Strike again, and try to unlock everyone's alternate costume. I missed the game so much.
My favorite is Rachel, and she was the first to unlock the costume, together with Jake. But I unlocked Sasha's too afterwards.
My favorite co is Grit. I love his playstyle. He suffers early game but once the artilleries are set he is gonna blast you off the map. I really like his laid back style. His co theme is one of my favourites as well.
My favourite one is lash, she is a terrain specialist who needs positioning to actually work. Her small power turns her into mini sturm for a turn, which is sturm who gets power based on terrain stars and her large power doubles terrain stars of the terrain
I have been starting to play AW1 recently, so over time I'll get to see who are my favorites xD
It's nice to see Days of Ruin commander in this list. Usually it is forgotten which is sad. That being said I am quite surprised to see some commander like Catleia/Isabella Sturm or Caulder didnt made the cut. Personnally, I prefer Catleia's theme over Sasha's one and just that puts her above her. Sturm is probably one of the vilain character I respect the most in all game. Putting aside his meteor strike, the guy has unit that ignore terrain and has boosted firepower and defence. No wonder he managed to almost solo control the entire game in AW1(granted that he is arguably stronger in AW2 than AW1). As for Caulder, I hate the guy, he's just so OP /shrug.
Seeing that more people might get interested in the AW universe with the new incoming game, I have hope that Days of Ruin will rise from its ashes.....or its Ruins.
for me is hachi for how broken his super power is bassically all the building turn to bases
I'm interested in playing Advance Wars thanks to your videos, especially this one! Thanks!!
I love your videos on advance wars
27:29
This is why we love you, my mans. Keep flexing that humanity.
Always been a Lash main, Prime Tactics is such a fun super power. Always had a softspot for Olaf also, he is my lowtier hero CO.
It's worth mentioning that all CO powers confer a 10 percent bonus to offense and defense by default, even if not explicit stated in their description. So by spamming Market Crash, you are still gaining a little bit of firepower and defense while denying your opponent's power.
My own quick list that I am mainly making from memory as I haven't played an AW in many years:
5. Hawke: Probably the best character development of any CO, nice power and stats.
4. Jake: I love his personality; he's so cheesy it's delightful. His abilities aren't great, but they also aren't bad and I find him much better than most seem to give him credit for. Most of all I love his theme song, easily my favorite track in the franchise. Also, since Dual Strike was my first Advance Wars, this guy is the face of the series in my heart, rather than Andy, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
3. Sami: She's hot and I love swarming people to death with infantry.
2. Javier: I love his cheesy "knight in shining armor" personality and the goofy way he talks; he's easily my #1 in terms of character. I also find great satisfaction in steamrolling armies with his com-tower boosts. (before anyone calls me cheap, I have never played against another player in my life, just the A.I.)
1. Penny: She stands out as the only DoR CO with a passive ability, her immunity to weather, and damn is it fun. My favorite way to play DoR was to play as Penny and set the weather to random. She has the lowest CO boosts of any character to counteract her amazing passive, so I often found myself playing defensively until the weather changed and then attacking; it was loads of fun. I also enjoyed playing on 3 or 4 player maps, playing as Penny with the other teams having no COs, setting all the opponents on a team against me, setting a permanent weather effect, then informing the peons in vivid detail of how much Mr. Bear hates them. It was so much fun taking advantage of the weather to take on droves of unbuffed enemies. I feel like I just used the word "fun" too much, but I meant it and that's why I love Penny so much.
I was just about to shoot you for putting Hawke on 5th, cuz I thought it it was from a competitive standpoint and Hawke is decent. Tho people in the aw community vow he's top tier. Damn I sound toxic. Well you have good opinion my friend.
I'd put Colin at the top. You can never go wrong with communist capitalism
@@megatennepster3833 yh from a competitive I would say he's the 4th best in aw2. From a character he's pretty boring in my opinion
Another Sami lover of culture!
Penny was a blast to play as, good to know you have great tastes in cos.
Fantastic list, and your comment are very well written and funny.
I'm sorry but this list is invalid because it doesn't feature the king of steel drums, Grimm!
i love the video, i never played dual strike before, i played through advance wars 2 and i think i beat advance wars 1 or was vary far into it, and i only played the first few maps of days of ruin, after watching the video i decided to play dual strike, i am really having fun with dual strike so far and am sad i didn't play it earlier. :)
I very much did not like fighting Tabitha on small land only maps when Wi-Fi randoms was still around
Well, More advanced wars content? Well, if it means hype surrounding reboot camp's release, I'll take it.
Now the question is what would you be like as a CO, whoisthisgit
Waylon, Tabitha and Sasha all being shown the love and attention they deserve. Seriously their all like some of the funest co's in the franchise
"What am I supposed to say? It's fun to kick ass, but it hurts when you're the ass. I'm only human."
Truest words ever spoken
Always down for good Advance Wars character vids
Yeah, you talked about Sasha a LOT in a couple videos, so I already saw this coming
Only played AW1 though, so my favorites are extremely limited, but Max and Grit are definitely up there
Grit and Gage are my mains for AW and Days of Ruin series.
Funny you mentioned Tabitha. Just a match ago, the AI Tabitha built a MEGATANK and loaded the co in within the first few turns.
Actually Tabitha in a expensive unit like a megatank is really bad cuz you can easily surround the tank and attack it with infantry to deplete it's ammo. And then pepper it with artillery or the likes.
@@theultimatetactician1712 unless im mistaken, the megatank doesnt waste its ammo on infantry since it has a machine gun.
@@MrMariosonicman you are right, sorry but my point stands
I never use Sasha and Colin's tag break "Trust Fund" at all. The 2 of them just rapid firing their normal CO powers is insane enough already. Colin uses Gold Rush to deploy heavy guns, Sasha scrambles CO powers while using said toys without penalty and her small cash bonus. It is hell to deal with. Sasha is also my favorite partially for all the COs she can pair well with like Andy (stalling CO powers while he charges his super) but also she honestly has a good personality.
The moment i saw Nell in the thumbmail, i already like the video.
I guess I do like Sasha the most as well. Thanks to her I never experienced enemies' dual strikes during campaign. Not very strong on her own, she's also not as gimmicky as some other stronger COs.
My second favorite goes to Olaf. Again, on his own not very strong, but using his powers can make the difference in battle.
As for my third favorite... I don't have one. If I play against other people, I always try to use such CO that, I think, can be utilised the best with a chosen map and my opponent CO of choice. For small maps with lots of mountains it's either Sami or Sensei against Hawke player.
I wasn't sure if I'd stick around the whole video, but halfway through Waylon's segment I remembered how fun your videos are. Can't wait for the remake.
While on the topic of Advance Wars, I'd like to recommend Advance Wars by Web to everyone here while we wait to see how the remakes turn up
We know your favorites now, but, who are the ones you hate the most?
I don't want to say. The AW elitists get pissy at you if you dare show any kind of weakness with these games, and if I were to say why I hate certain COs, they will try and argue with. "They're easy to counter, just do this" ignoring that solutions aren't always available, and even if they are, the CO might still not be any fun to battle in any situation.
@@whoisthisgit I get it :3
My favorite from advance wars 1 to dual strike are
Colin, Kanbei, Jess, Max, Grimm lol. Power modifiers are nice and Colin has super cheap units.
I still favor Sturm, overpowered broken to hell CO that he is. I love me a good villain and while he's on the villain for villain's sake side of things he just hits so hard. I also love the terrain effect where he basically ignores an entire mechanic.
Lash is also very high up there, I enjoy the character. I *_wish_* Flak was worth a damn. Really I love all the AW2 Black Hole COs as characters, though Hawke is probably my least favorite
Grit comes in second though, just the calm guitar strumming and great range mess is nice. I sometimes use a cover to relax and sleep.
Sonja is another of my favorites, cute little intel girl with a good head on her shoulders, I love Konbei being fatherly as well and the relationship they have.
I enjoy the more unique and clever powers over just straight defense/offense boosts
Sasha and colin is the only pair I used in AWDS well I'm still debating if hachi also deserves a spot xD
Lin from Days of Ruin is hands down my favorite CO in all of the Advance Wars series! Honorable mention to Sonja, but Days of Ruin is just too good to compete with.
Dual Strike and Days of Ruin are just about the only turn based strategy game that has fog of war affect both human *AND* AI forces, so of course the best COs are the ones that lets you dish all that pain from previous games back tenfold!
Ah yes. One of my favorite games
I see no Yellow Comet CO
SHAME
Advance wars is back, first the 2nd game got it's own worst levels ever episode and now this, yay
Anyone tried tiny metal full metal? Works fine and can serve for awating the reboot
in your defense, Sasha does break the campaign in half
put tabitha in an anti tank and almost nothing can kill her, aside from rockets and bombers.

Honestly, James Raynor from Starcraft and his voice actor is already enough as Grit, I'd imagine that voice matches that style.
I also got one for Sami, and it's basically Skye's from Valorant with/without Australian accent.
Endless possibilities await
You are more leaning towards Waylon than Will when you revealed why you put Sasha in first
By the way have you heard of wargroove? it's sort of a spiritual successor to advance wars and I think you might really like it
It was either going to be Sasha or Sturm.
oh speaking of sasha.. theres 1 stage in dual strike campaign that you "might" want to cover on this channel, its called dark ambition
YES
