I'm bothered that I keep getting distracted about the idea of smooching one of my enemies.
I need to learn how to foe kiss.

I'm assuming that the cloth/leather/materials that formed the base of the fancy armor degraded over 1000 years.

Take my Lance, said Lance. ...and he runs off without the lance.

Yeah, it's odd. They probably should have made it a little more obvious that this was the one time in the entire game where they don't actually just put the item in your inventory :)

@@GophersVids He plays with HUD elements turned low/off. If the quest marker had been on, if would have been highlighting the workbench. So basically, an own-goal.

I wonder (actually wonder here, I've not played yet) if the holographic nature of that armor is only visible to those with a focus. Though, that now begs the question... Can the machines see all the things a focus might, or are their optics tuned for minerals, scraps, and bio-material (humans included) they're hunting for? In which case, you'd only have to worry about being seen if the opponent also has a focus.
Not that that would be how the code works; just how would it work in the world? Either way, it's good enough world-building that is making me consider what-ifs and how-woulds. That's often a good thing because it means the devs did said world-building, whether they meant to or not. ;)

wasnt this armor originally locked until after the hades fight, making its usefullness... limited?

I always wondered how Sylens managed to repair a focus? Without any understanding, knowledge and tools? These people have a preindustrial society full of religious superstition.

It's not true they are strictly preindustrial. The Oseram have significant industry, and the Banuk (of which Sylens was a member) have a synergistic relationship with machines (made more troublesome after the Derangement). And given the ability to study examples of ancient civilization, individuals could have significantly advanced ability to tinker in one or another field without remotely having the ability to manufacture new items in that field.
If you have several broken smartphones, you might be able to figure out how to scavenge parts to repair one of them to get its screen working, without having any insight at all about how the screen or other parts is actually manufactured.

I think Sylens is like most scientists, see what you can do and only worry about the consequences if they affect you personally.
Faro on the other hand had the right idea. He wanted to fix the problem he caused but not give people instant access to knowledge as they'll probably misuse it... and tbh science isn't always a good thing anyway. Most of the time scientific discoveries give new knowledge but destroy something else in return or cause new problems.
