I love your channel, I'm 65 years old and I remember the craftsmen at the shoe repair shop. That place is long gone now and its a shame because our town lost something special. I am glad to see that you are continuing the craft and passing on the knowledge. I hope you thrive in your endeavours for many years to come.
Even though he’s a master craftsman, he’s still humble enough to not take himself too seriously and this is a down to earth and interesting channel. Can’t wait to order a pair!
@@snoopu2601 You always think of a bootmaker as an old guy with a cigar and grey hair. Lots of people strive to order a pair of custom boots from Brian. If you watch enough boot videos the name Role Club comes up quite often as a great high end bootmaker.

Thanks for the awesome video! It's funny how many people consider boot maintenance a minor thing, yet they nag about how fast their footwear goes out of order and they have to spend money on new pairs. It's that easy - treat your leather boots once-twice per month with some soap and conditioner and they'll be fine. Plus with resoling you can prolong the lifetime of a pair - just look after the upper part of the boots good enough and with a resole you'll have your "new" old boots

It’s amazing. When I see these videos I have olfactory memories of the “shoe hospital” my mother took her leather goods to be repaired. I swear I can smell the leather and the polish.
I love polishing my shoes.. As a matter of fact polishing the shoes is so relaxing for me, especially the part when I apply the tin polish with the brush.. (no liquid polish for me).. Now, for a guy who finds polishing his shoes so relaxing imaging how I feel watching Brian the Bootmaker clean his shoes, rebuild other shoes and polish them.. Love your channel! Wish I could buy those long-bristled brush.. And a good tin shoe polish
Thanks for the tutorial Brian. I just made my first set of non-lasted boots and will need to care for them. I really enjoy your spirit and love for the work you do. Robots will never replace you.
Hi Brian. When I was doing my military time in France, I used to get my girlfriend's used nylon socks to heat the polish and get them shining quicker. In winter time, we were putting the polish near the room heater to have it more cremay and easy to use with brushes. It also helped breaking our black military boots.
I like your information. My dad was a lineman and always kept his boots taken care of. He made his own grease out of bear grease and neetsfoot oil. He always taught me to treat your boots when they had gotten wet. He did some of the same steps you do. He would brush the dirt off and let them dry a little but not completely. He said letting them dry completely would also let the oils out and they would get stiff. He would rub in a good coating of the grease and then let them sit and then clean off the excess. They were tough environment work boots so the Polish was not done. They weren't pretty but he got long life out of his boots. One of my brothers and I have stayed with keeping our shoes taken care of. A cared for pair of shoes just sends a positive message. Any comments on dad's grease good or bad would be appreciated. Thanks
Best conditioner I found is called Garrison Grease on Amazon. It's nice that it's non-toxic as I like to actually use my hands to rub it into the boot leather. On their website they talk about it being used on horse tack so as not to poison the horse. I know a lot of products use some pretty nasty chemicals.
First off, love that you're keeping a tradition alive, and really enjoyed this video. I do have a question though... How do you care for greased leather boots? I know how I care for mine and it seems pretty good, but I'd love a professional opinion on making them last even longer. Thanks!!!!

Great and helpful video. That’s pretty much the way I do it only using glycerin saddle soap from cleaning saddles and other tack. Saddle soap does a great job cleaning leather. It cleans shoes really well & does great with saddles. It removes horse sweat and replenishes leather that’s gotten wet. The only other thing I used was Lexol which works like the Cadillac cleaner you use. I never used the Lexol on shoes because they didn’t need it.

Hi Brian....I sure enjoy your videos'. Much like another viewer I'm just a little older than most of your subscribers. 72 to be exact. The small town I grew up in had a cobbler that was amazing. Hi Brian. Thanks for all of the good tips. I have some good; heavy Alico hiking boots that I like to keep looking sharp like you are doing in the video but I like to keep them waterproof as well. Good tips, you're awesome!!! I remember when I was polished my dad's shoes and my big brother shoes with this fabulous crema neutra El Oso de Don Prisiliano,I used soap and then Grasa,(Grease) el Oso black brown or cherry, depend of color and for finished the crema neutra El Oso,buffed with a rag band,And when the band passed, I made him cry to the skin contact, thank you for all your videos, you're the best!!! It will be possible to send you a pair of my boots to repair?? How can contact you?,let me know please!!! Thank so much!!!
Just do it normal, saddle soap and Huberd’s boot oil/grease. It’s worked for generations of loggers and construction workers. I have work boots that have lasted over 30 years. Resoled after 6 months and use sticky soles without heels for walking iron. Growing up in the woods we used bear grease we rendered down. El Oso is just fake bear grease.
Great video and gorgeous boots! I actually find shoe polishing meditative and relaxing, do you? Do you also use a seperate set of brushes for different/lighter colored leathers?

Is it good to use a mink oil on ur boot even if it's says it prevents dry and cracking on ur boot? Luv ur vids brah !
Love those boots! Great video
Hi!
I also use El Oso, I'm from México, nice and cheap brand too, I use it to give my boots and shoes a mirror shine.
Keep doing videos!
Saludos!
I would love a set of those brushes and polish you used. They will be perfect for my Zamberlans. How do I get hooked up brother ?
should you let the soap dry on the boot? wont that dry it out? I always wipe the soap off. have I been doing it wrong all these years?
Great videos. Is there a circumstance where you would re-dye a boot in addition to your other maintenance steps ?
Just Cleaned two pairs and a Belt...! Outstanding
Great video!
Can I do that exact process with my 8085 IR’s?
EL OSO,good stuff I remember my dad using it in his shoes.
Good tips,you're awesome!!!
I like this channel. Thanks for making it.
Now I know how to clean and maintain my boots. Do you use the same cleaning process on dress shoes???
Love your videos/work. Reminded me of polishing boots for work in the fire service.
Muy bueno El Oso !!!
Y cuidado con el Oso Babas
Just do it normal, saddle soap and Huberd’s boot oil/grease. It’s worked for generations of loggers and construction workers. I have work boots that have lasted over 30 years. Resoled after 6 months and use sticky soles without heels for walking iron. Growing up in the woods we used bear grease we rendered down. El Oso is just fake bear grease.
Can one walk into your shop and purchase those items ?
Great video I learned 2 new things tonight.
Cool vids brian ..i seen a couple of ur resoles and they are pretty bad ass..keep up the good work..saludos desde phx,az
Great video and gorgeous boots! I actually find shoe polishing meditative and relaxing, do you? Do you also use a seperate set of brushes for different/lighter colored leathers?
