As a fountain pen enthusiast, I cringed when you brought the alcohol out. Then, you said you were going to use it to clean yourself and your workspace and I breathed a sigh of relief. Then, you made contact between your pen and the alcohol and I died a little inside. LOL A fountain pen should never have alcohol used in or on it. The materials used to make them (including delicate parts like the feed, which moves the ink from cartridge to nib) can be permanently damaged by alcohol resulting in a leaky or broken pen. I encourage you to check out Goulet Pens' YT channel. They have a wealth of information on ways to encourage ink flow in a stubborn pen, how to properly clean and store pens, etc... I do love JD's pens, though! They're amazingly well made and outperform some of my more expensive fountain pens!

@@2tinytreasures I hope you find lots of helpful information there! 😊 Also, if you're ever looking for some unique inks that are Fountain Pen compatible, I recommend looking on Goulet's website for Shimmering and Sheening inks. My personal favorites are by D'Atrementis (Velvet Black and Copper, though any of theirs are beautiful) and Organics (Henry David Thoreau, but Ernest Hemingway is also super cool and they have others). 😊👍👍

My Grandfather also told me never clean my pens with alcohol, When I was telling him about my Art class doing an Asgmt, with Fountain pens. He also gave me a square bottle of Indian Ink with an eyedropper. He had giving me 3 all together, 1 that he used in his Post Office that he built and was Post Master, my grandmother and grandfather lived in a small town, back in the year 1910. I guess I didn't need to mention that, But I love those 3 fountain pens that he gave me. I still have them too, there made with real Ivory and amethyst, the other one is Ivory and a Blue but I forgot what it was made out of and the last one is all black, they are very small pens, I am very honored that he gave them to me. But I can't remember what he told me to clean them with? It's been many years, lol I just turned 61 the other day. Could you please tell me what to clean them with, or does that website show you how or tell you how? @2tinytreasures I want to tell you Thank you so very much for sharing your video with all of us, this is a very good video showing all of us these beautiful fountain pens and how to load them. They look very nice to write with and look like they have a good balance to them : )

Very informative video. Thank you. However I just purchased a Jane Davenport pen and the cartridges will not pop in like yours shows on the video. I have tried pushing extra hard to pop it in and it will not go. Do you think I have faulty cartridges?

Thanks for this video! The written instructions gave me everything I needed to know except your helpful tip to shake the pen to get the ink down into the nib. You saved the day!

I bought the black pen and no how, no way will the ink come out of the pen. I snapped it in, shook it and no ink comes out. I am so frustrated, can you help?

Oof 😓 I know over time these clog badly! If the cartridge is dried out then nothing u can do with that part but I was able to save the pens 🖊 by soaking in hot water 💦

They don’t store very well without clogging. They need to be used often. I changed to storing them flat.

I unscrew everything. Soak in 1 part ammonia, 10 parts water and few drop Dawn dish soap. Immerse all parts. Then twist paper towel or use long Q tip to reach end of barrel.

Do these pens dry up if you don’t use them very often. My cartridge fountain pens are terrible about drying out.

I haven’t had them long but my other pilot fountain pen would do that. Texas is plenty hot this time of year..so when I leave it in the heat of a car or garage the pen starts flowing again nicely.

Please, no one ever use alcohol in a fountain pen! It can damage your pen! Only use water or fountain pen cleaner to clean your pens.
