You're somewhat young to be getting it (usually ages 30 to 60 is the typical age of onset) but there are a lot of medical treatments now (like Lasers and tetracycline antibiotics) that can clear it up pretty quickly! There is an OTC medication called Rosadyn that you can order online, it helps me!
This was such a helpful video. It led me to question my breakouts and go to a derm. Lo and behold, I had Papulopustular rosacea this whole time. I feel so much better knowing what the heck is causing these breakouts so that I can try to effectively treat it. Thank you!
I am so glad that this video was helpful and prompted you to get the proper diagnosis and treatment! That is the whole goal here. Thank you for sharing!
@@TeawithMD When using prescription azelaic acid in a skincare routine, does it have to come first after cleansing, like what you did, or can it be last after moisturizer? Also, does it need time in between products to work? Also, I saw somewhere that tretinoin causes angiogenesis so it's not good for rosacea skin with visible blood vessels. Is this true?
I'm in my last year of grad school and my papulopustular rosacea has gotten terrible! I think its the busyness and stress, but could also be my diet. Just so annoying that its adding to my already long list of to-do's :'( But this video helps so much thank you!!!
Thanks for this detail on how to treat rosacea. I have stepped up from the 0.025 tret to the 0.05 tret and am pleasantly surprised it hasn’t caused my rosacea to flare. After the tret I use a moisturizer that does not have hyaluronic acid - La Roche-Posay Toleraine Double Repair. I really thought I would have to avoid putting tretinoin on my cheeks but I haven’t. Twice a week I skip the tret and use a 10% glycolic acid serum followed by the same moisturizer.
Sounds like a great routine! Thank you for watching. Glad to hear that the higher strength tretinoin works for you - I wish my skin could tolerate tret!
I've been using DermalMD Rosacea Serum for a few weeks now, and I'm really starting to see a difference. My skin is less red and inflamed, and I'm not getting as many flare-ups.
Hi there Thanks for sharing but which rosacea you had please? I have the 2nd one. Could you please help. I am very very stressed as I never had something like this ever before. Thanks
Hello! Great question and I want to do a deep die into LED masks soon. Red light can be helpful for calming inflammation and for anti-aging purposes. In terms of rosacea, red light would be an adjunct nice to have device but definitely not what I'd go to as my first line treatment for rosacea.

I don't usually comment but felt compelled to because how irritated my eyes were and if this can help anyone. I had ocular rosacea and rosacea papules. My eyes were so itchy with white dry skin on eyelashes. I think I had over production of demodex mites on my face. My question Doctor is are those the same products you would recommend for me with lupus added in the mix? Btw, I’m 67 yo Caucasian with naturally light blonde hair ( ok it’s white now…ugh!) I do color it a light blond. I would love help as I have asked many dermatologists about treatments, but hear the same thing over and over…try a retinol cream or over the counter redness correcting moisturizer. You know if I needed some spots burned off they would have time, but I won’t join in on that revolving door routine. I would appreciate any additional advice you might have…I’m a skin care junkie. Hi Michelle thank you so much for watching and for the kind comment. Lupus definitely can cause redness as you know, and the key to controlling the redness may lie in getting the lupus under control first. I’ve seen lupus patients in my practice who needed topical or oral meds depending on the severity.

Hello! I recommend using prescription rosacea cream in all the areas that you have active rosacea flares; you don't have to use it on the non-inflamed skin
All the products for my rosacea from the ordinary damaged my skin. I still can't moisturize , 1 drop of moisturizer and I break out. Is there anything I can use?

thank you for this!! having good luck with azelaic acid + tretinoin right now in terms of smoothing my skin / getting rid of the bumps. redness is still up and down, potentially because of the tret irritation - I'm up to every other night though so think I'm acclimating OK! do you tend to see a reduction in redness in the long term from consistent azelaic acid (or even tretinoin) use or do you think it mainly helps with papules/pustules?

Thank you for this video. I think i have just realized im messing up by doing the sulfur cleanser at night and then the tretinoin 😅 and using the gentle cleanser in the morning. It is hard to find information on that
Hi Karen, thanks for watching! Good question about the skinbetter mystro. According to the brand clinical studies and the before after photos, the new product does help target overall redness. I've been using it myself and didn't see a huge reduction in redness so far. I'll let you know how it goes a few months in!
Hi, great video. I suffer with rosacea myself and in the evening after shower I use these products: 1. The Ordinary Azelaic acid, 2. Rozex (Metronidazole) and finally in the end 3. my moisturiser. I apply them to my skin in this order. Is this order correct or should i change it? Thank You
Hello! For the Azelaic acid and the metronidazole, I would first use whichever has the thinner consistency and then use the thicker one on top, finishing with moisturizer
I tried a prescription sulphur/sulfacemide wash and had an allergic reaction with hives after a few weeks of use.. Any only sulphur wash recos? Something that doesn't have sulfa?
I have the 2nd rosacea you mentioned and i hate being all red. I loved your video . My dr have prescribed me the metronidazole gel based and another cream for the redness. Unfortunately its no difference at all . I stopped using everything then i used some home remedies it started to look better until my dr told me start back on the same metronidazole. It has gone more worse. I am very annoyed and hate going out. I have just started hypo21 spray yesterday recommended by skin clinic to see how it goes. I hope it works. Also i am going to use spf which i never used in my life. I have this first time ever and even dr doesn't know. Could you please recommended something. I tend to be very sensitive to mineral sunscreens- I've gotten bad red flushes as soon as the sun hits my skin while wearing mineral sunscreen, and I've also gotten straight up rashes. Are there any links to rosacea and sensitivity to titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide? The Dr Jart Tiger Grass Color Correcting product you mention contains mineral sunscreen and my skin CANNOT tolerate it. I can only tolerate chemical sunscreens. Am I 'misdiagnosing' myself with rosacea?
Interesting, most sensitive skinned or rosacea patients actually do better with mineral sunscreens! Might be worth seeing a derm to check this out further
Thank you so much for this video!! I have a question about reapplying sunscreen while wearing makeup....I currently use Coola setting spray with SPF 30 to reapply, but do you have a better recommendation for sunscreen reapplication while wearing makeup?
Is it true that the ivermectin cream needs to be applied at night? I have Rosiver (Canadian name for the 1% ivermectin). I’m doing Vbeam but didn’t have any bruising only slight swelling. I’m going for my second treatment tomorrow. Trying to get pregnant so many of the oral medications are off the table for now.
I appreciate your recommendations but gosh, there is hardly anything that I can afford on your list. It would be really nice if you could also give an inexpensive alternative to some of these very expensive products thank you!❤
I am a latin woman when I was 18 I tried a new expensive tonic for my face that starting to burning and itching… after many years I realized I had rosacea. Now I’m 64 I do have rosacea with pustules in my forehead, nose and chin. 😢
Can you comment on the excel v laser for an in office rosacea treatment for lots of broken capillaries on the cheeks? I've only met with one Derm and that's what he uses. Thanks in advance!
Great informative video! Your skin is beautiful! I love Vanicream gentle cleanser and CeraVe moisturizing lotion. My skin has been able to tolerate Olay retinol cream every other night but my cheeks got irritated from Olay’s Vit C cream. I want to try the Vit C you recommended. 💞
I was basically born as a TOMATO LOL ive had rosacea in the form of splotchy redness on my cheeks since I was born! I've always wondered about the lasers. I know the cost will vary, but do you know the average cost? Thank you so much for this helpful video!!🥰♥
Hello, thank you for watching! The cost varies depending on the type of laser, how many treatments you’re getting, how much surface area they’re lasering, and others. Back in California we were charging around $500 for full face laser with PDL, and $250 for partial face or spot treatments!
I go to a very large, highly regarded cosmetic dermatology group in San Diego and my VBeam for rosacea was just 650 for full face two weeks ago. The vbeam targets red and has kept my rosacea at bay for the last 5 plus years. I get them maybe twice a year. It’s so worth it to me.
Thank you for video. Can you please help me to find out how to use my 10% azelaic acid serum and metronidazole 1% gel ? Together at the same time or how? And if I can start using that ivermectin as well or it has to be a mixed formula that you recommend? Thank you in advance Doctor
Hello, I like to compound formulas for my patients so that it's easier to use and apply. If you have them separately the general recommendation is to apply from thinnest consistency to thickest
I have never had rosacea until recently and I get flare up when I eat or drink things like bread or beer but now that I cut them out I am still getting a flare ups and not sure what is causing it. No one in my family has it.
rosacea can definitely develop over time and come up later in life; it may be worth seeing a dermatologist to figure out your triggers and get treatment!
I have redness on my cheeks, but I don't have blood vessels and acne. Is this rosacea? I am 17 years old girl. I had fair skin . Please help me and reply me. Thanks. I have flaky and very dry skin .
I had an allergic reaction to the Elta Md, I’ve been contemplating the Dr. Jart Cica one for a while because I really like the Elemis Cicacalm wash and serum. But to clarify, I’d need to apply more mineral sunscreen on top of the Dr Jart to get enough SPF coverage?
Good question; the cicapair one to me is a spot treatment because it’s quite thick and comes out like a color correcting paste. I wouldn’t apply a thick enough layer to my whole face to get the spf benefit so I use it as spot treatment on my red areas and regular spf on the rest
Omg Same thing happened to me!! I have been using differin for 2 years and my pores are getting huge.. especially in places where I have never had any issues. I have been trying to figure out what caused the problem but never considered it was the product that was supposed to help.
Initially when starting retinoids patients can experience irritation redness flaking and initial worsening of acne; this goes away as your skin gradually becomes accustomed to it. It can take 6-8 weeks
*UPDATE* After some research I now believe that the enlarged stretched out pores on my face are due to Demodex! I knew that I had a problem with Demodex in my eyelashes and it has never been out of control but I have been noticing more and more over the last 2 years and that coincides exactly with when I started noticing the enlarged pores. I also have scaly skin close to my lower lashes and in my tear troughs. Nothing has helped...until 2 days ago! I had a few drops of glycolic acid toner left and try that on the scales under my eyes and the next morning the scales were practically gone - but only having enough for one day the scales came back yesterday. I bought SomeByMi Miracle toner yesterday from Walmart and that seems too slowly be helping.
…holy smokes…I always suspected I had some form of mild rosacea due to how red and splotchy my face and chest gets. I thought I’ve been dealing with nodular/cystic acne for the last year but I think might actually have type 2… My first dermatology appointment is in march. I really hope I can get answers and a proper diagnosis if it really is rosacea
Not everyone with rosacea is allergic to fragrance. Case in point: me. If someone's allergic to fragrance, he or she should avoid it. If they don't have a problem with fragrance, no need to demonize it.
Rosacea is NOT genetic, I have it but nobody else in my family does. Different products suit different people. Most of this stuff irritates my skin as I have hypersensitive skin and nothing works, even ipl.
Have u gone to a plastic surg office . Or dermatologist . They usually have options that get results rather quickly . Suprizingly Not really expensive . Worth it for sure
I'm 18 with rosacea and I was really scared to see dermatologist but this really helped

I prescribe a sulfur face wash for my patients! I have to think about an otc one and get back to you
I was basically born as a TOMATO LOL ive had rosacea in the form of splotchy redness on my cheeks since I was born!
Thank you for sharing your experience!
Topical Ivermectin is so ludicrously expensive and so many insurances don't cover it.
Lupus or dermatitis
I had an allergic reaction to the Elta Md, I’ve been contemplating the Dr. Jart Cica one for a while because I really like the Elemis Cicacalm wash and serum. But to clarify, I’d need to apply more mineral sunscreen on top of the Dr Jart to get enough SPF coverage?
Good question; the cicapair one to me is a spot treatment because it’s quite thick and comes out like a color correcting paste. I wouldn’t apply a thick enough layer to my whole face to get the spf benefit so I use it as spot treatment on my red areas and regular spf on the rest
@@TeawithMD great! Thank you for the reply!
THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for watching!
caan you help me i dont know what time of rosacea i have
I have a question, when I used retinoids I started to experience large pores ( I used adapelene gel) and till now I can't fix my skin, Is it normal ?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
so glad this was helpful
LET'S GOOOOOO ROSACEA
Thanks for watching!
…holy smokes…I always suspected I had some form of mild rosacea due to how red and splotchy my face and chest gets. I thought I’ve been dealing with nodular/cystic acne for the last year but I think might actually have type 2…
My first dermatology appointment is in march. I really hope I can get answers and a proper diagnosis if it really is rosacea
Sun screen gives me rosacea. Even the mineral type.
I CANNOT tolerate Tretinoin either! It's too irritating for my skin!
We need a CURE for Rosacea folks!!
Wish we had a cure! For tretinoin - though I can’t tolerate prescription tret I can use skinbetter Alpharet very well and that’s a retinoid!
@@TeawithMD I really appreciate you getting back with me so quickly! None of the other Influencer MDs usually do that! Thanks again!
@@TeawithMD I really cannot use Tretinoin or any kind of Retinol on my face I'm too sensitive with Rosacea for that!
Will be reading rlthis
Guapa!! 💔
honestly how dare you recommend that dr. jartt stuff to rosacea sufferers knowing full well it's a highly SCENTED product
Not everyone with rosacea is allergic to fragrance. Case in point: me. If someone's allergic to fragrance, he or she should avoid it. If they don't have a problem with fragrance, no need to demonize it.
CURE ROSACEA!!!
Thanks, but I have been to several clinics for laser and ipl treatment. The last visit resulted in uveitis, a severe eye infection@@sheririce4257
It is genetic. But just because something is genetic doesn't mean that's the only cause
Yes, you're right. My father had it, and his my aunt, his sister had it also! Now I have it too! @heatherlynn4652
Try "kolloidales Silver", as a cream or serum and water. It is the only thing that helped me.
fuck this bro I'd rather be a bit red than use lasers and acid on my face
