Hi @City Planner Plays. At first i wanna thank you for providing this very useful video. I got a question for the second (or maybe third ?) part. Could you please also mention some aspects of safety of modding? I wanted to start modding at the epic games version with Mods from the Steam Workshop, but there are many people who say that you need to be careful because of update, save game coruption and similar stuff. Could you also make a kind of a safety guide for these mods? Thanks for reading ; )

Man this almost bring tears in my eyes to see how much the mods have evolved.
I'm the original author of many of these mods. Move it, Find It, most of what's now in Network Anarchy (those fire Chirps were a blast to make, pun intended), AVO, Cinematic Camera Ex and more.
Thanks for making this video, took me down the nostalgia lane.

    • @CityPlannerPlays
      @CityPlannerPlays  Рік тому +6

Holy cow! Thank you so much for all that you did for the game! Though many of the mods have evolved, your base is still there! And I know that as a content creator, Cinematic Camera is STILL my #1 mod for recording. Thank you so much for all that you've done for the community!

When you place a water source, any size can be used to suck out the water, not just 0. Place a full sized water source and adjust the height to below where the current water is and it will still suck out the excess water. Drop the height to the minimum level and the effect is somewhat dramatic. I'll do land reclamation just by drawing the outline and putting a water source dropped to the minimum height in the middle and the water inside the outline is gone really quickly without the tsunami that you usually get when displacing a lot of water. It is also useful like this to tame rivers that tend to flood, particularly at the outflow of a dam. You can have a massive 1600MW dam empty into a small pond without any flooding using the water source correctly.

Highly recommend Skyve too! Really helpful for a player like me who has various cities with various styles and assets and instead of downloading and redownloading things, separate profiles allow for easy switching between my map editor loadout, my vanilla load-outs etc, but great video!

Yeah, this for sure. Compatibility Report and the Load Order Mod got merged together and became Skyve, and the tool is all kinds of useful for checking mods for problems. @City Planner Plays I hope you'll see this and give it a shot (and include it as a recommended mod!).

    • @gamingages5725
      @gamingages5725 Рік тому

Skyvve is my go to. I can change setups without going through so many hoops or having 9 different Steam accounts. The new additions made it great for sharing setups. Lastly, the integration with Compatibility Report has been great. I can troubleshoot, remove, and sub mods at will without breaking a sweat. In my opinion, this mod is about as essential as having Harmony.

My personal “can’t live without mod” is Lifecycle Rebalance Revisited by algernon. It might be on your part 2, who knows. It always baffled me that you start your city with citizens who have never even graduated elementary school but are somehow capable of running a coal power plant. Lifecycle Rebalance provides more variety in age and education level of immigrant cims. Hospitals and medical centers become less useless because cims can randomly get sick. That mod really helps fix some of the un-realism in the game. Another good one to pair with Lifecycle Rebalance is You’re Fired by Delta 5-1, which enables industry and commercial to free up space for more educated cims to take up space in the workforce.

I was how old when I learned that "X" does this...yep, after using many of these mods for a while, you still showed tools/features that I had no clue about!! Thanks, CPP!!!
You may be covering it in part 2 but Skyve definitely needs to be on the list. It saved my bacon after the previous DLC janked a few older mods. Studying the incompatibility spreadsheet turned my eyeballs into pained puddles of ocular vitreous! Also, a decent options to City Vitals is Watch It! Revisited which has a cleaner (IMHO) interface.

  • @j.p.walkman9671

Great list. I only started playing last year. I was on Vanilla for 6 months, then i got some expansions, during a sale, played with those then got a few more at the next sale. I recently got Campus. I still got to get Airports, Hotels and Retreats, Plazas and Promenades, Sunset Harbor, Natural Disasters and Snowfall, are my last.
Anyway just want to say some of these are really helpful. Undo It is a godsend. Move It, I love what I see and i've only done a few basics. Surface Painter is one I like and felt was needed cause when I got Parklife I was really disappointed when it came to pavements. There's that generic stone pavement for city parks but parks are known to have dirt and gravel too, even cement, so to have those surfaces is really handy.
Extra Landscaping Tool is another good one, i knew about this for a while, and was one of my first mods i used, but I seem to not fully understand how it works cause it is always building these massive hills or canyons. So maybe my brush strength is too strong.
The Network Multi Tool is really handy. I've recently made a few Cul De Sacs. They look really nice on some of my blocks.
City Vitals very handy. Also like ACME. That extra Camera. Play It is cool. Controlling Day and Night.
Yeah, so had lots of fun in my play through today.

You left out a great use for BOB, adding new props to buildings. I mainly use that feature to make grand firework shows by adding multiple firework launchers to the Parklife park entrances, and they all trigger at the same time. Also one weakness to Surface Painter is that it only paints in a non-rotatable square, so diagonals are never straight.

Side note: The starting money on Game Anarchy affects your game each time you load your save. I was busy on a map and each time I play it the money I built up was set back to the start money value. So it is good for a boost to start a new map, but remember to switch it off before saving and exiting the game. If you are not saving money to do major changes then you can keep it on if you like.

I was getting a bit of deja vu from this video, and then it hit me-Moddington is built on the same map as Orchid Bay. It was the put-airport-here island that made it clear to me.
There were some mods I don’t use in here, that I will have to check out. Also some ones that look like newer versions of ones I have used before. (And of course a bunch that I use all the time like Move It-how can people actually make decent networks without that one).

So I’ve just got the first game. While I wait for the second to be released. But some mods don’t support my version. Network anarchy for one.

I wish there was an option to exclude some roads from the 81 tile water and electricity option, as dirt roads, where normally you wouldn't think they buried the cables and pipes under those...

Very nice list. I think I only differ in using "Watch it" instead of "City Vitals Watch". Was a bit surprised to see you not using "Precision Engineering". In part 2 you show "Ultimate Level of Detail". You can switch that against "Visibility Control" - offers the same functionality plus more.
Maybe you can do a different list for vanilla fixes. There is still some "bugs" in the final version of CS. I use "Post Truck Fix", "Better Train Boarding", "Public Transport Unstucker", "Airplane Fix" and "Call again". Though technically not fixes, I also use "You're Fired" and "Check Road Access for Growables", wich is very useful if you have service vehicles despawn all the time to find out where the problem comes from.

I think that Watch It! Revisted is a better mod than City Vitals Watch as it also shows the limits as well as the problems in your city. I think it should be on this list instead of City Vitals Watch

new to the game. been watching a ton of your stuff. i would love an in-depth on setting up bus networks. i have watched so many videos and the best I ever seem to get is about 50% usage. Never enough though to actually make a profit, or to see the car trips replaced change from 0% to anything. So yeah, can't wait for the next mod list video, but would really love an in-depth on what makes a functional, profitable bus line.

I've never seen BOB do one thing in any LP I've watched. US center road lines (any lines that separate directions) need to be yellow, not white.

Thank you for this beginners guide to the mods and hotkeys. As I prep for *_Cities Skylines 2,_* this will be helpful as I'm sure some, if not most, of the hotkeys and shortcut buttons will be the same 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Personally, I love building an electrical transmission and distribution network. It just is not realistic if there are not transmission lines along the highway.

    I have 2 questions:
1- I added a bunch of props & vehicles from the workshop in the last month, and the game keeps bugging me that I have an outdated/incompatible mod. My only 2 mods are ACME and Move It. Do workshop creations also trigger this warning, or is one of my 2 mods wrecking things?
2- If I have a McDonald's in my game that came from the workshop, and it becomes abandoned, can I bring it back to life by clicking Reset Object with Move It?

Thanks for the vid. I had a mod that would show network issues. Say someone died, you could click on it, and it would bring you right to the house where they died. It was almost like a search bar on the top, but you can't search anything, just click on the icon that shows up, and it brings you right to it so you don't have to go searching everywhere for an issue. Or you have a one way street, but you put another section the wrong way. It would show it on the top. Do you know what that mod was called? TIA

This is great guide and very detailed.
It's surprising that after all this time there's still a feature of MoveIt that I don't know 😅
