Pretty sure you snagged a foreign nuclear sub. I like to imagine the sailors trying to figure out why they couldn't descend and why they kept being dragged back toward the surface. Would've been chaos. You probably deserve some sort of medal. Amazing fishing adventure - the two (fish, not foreign subs) you brought to the boat were amazing as well!

BRO that SUCKS! SORRY to see that happen! I fought about a 80lb Yellowfin in Costa Rica for about 90min but got him in...However, 10 min before I hooked that fish I was using a Topwater Plug and this massive Yellowfin jumped out of the water while eating my Bait and spooled me in 20min or so! Those Tuna are BattleShips!

I've watched a lot of videos of guys in Hawaii fighting tuna. That was no tuna you had on the line. An hour and half of constant pressure and pulling line against your drag...at will. Dude, epic battle. Just wish you had a glimpse but I contend not a tuna.
No clue what it was but 98% sure it wasnt a shark. Never had a shark do death spirals under the kayak.

Very well coulda been.
Not a shark, that leader isn’t holding up for close to that long on a fish of that size even foul hooked, skin and teeth easy break. Not a tuna, that was not a big yellowfin fight and no BF can do that. Hard to say but I vote Goliath came up, ate your Bonita/BF immediately or he swiped and missed at the school while catching a hook. If you didn’t pass any major structure, even more likely, as I’ve hooked Goliath in open water adjacent to reefs/wrecks and they’ve slow run a ways before dipping into a hidey hole and bunkering down. Could have also been a 90-100lb Cobia, extraordinarily rare but they exist, would have actually been the catch of a lifetime.

So certainly not a Tuna or it fought different than any of the others i have caught in the last 20 years but also not going to be a Goliath as he was trolling a plug for Tuna iam assuming over deep water so probably too far away from where he lives, I would bet foul hooked Manta or a fouled Tiger Shark, not super fast but just Bulldog strong and tough if not hooked in the mouth there is no turning them. BUT!!!! Since it got away surely it was a 200 pound Wahoo or a 125 pound Cobia!! 😂😂😂

Definitely wasnt a ray, ive hooked dozens from the yak and never had one do death spirals. Couldve been a shark but dont see the 30lb line holding up for an hour and a half.
@@TheLawlessTide foul hooked rays and sharks fight real heavy like that with out a lot of head shakes ir tail kicks. The rod does jerk around alot thats what makes me think foul hooked. I lean toward a sandbar shark hooked in the pec fin
