Depending upon its resolution limit and accuracy, it could be useful for PCB resist removal. They should come up with a coating that is etchant resistant, but which can be burned away by the laser. I've read elsewhere about black lacquer paint being used with other lasers. PCB positioning stops would allow two-sided PCBs to be made.
You are a salute to geeks... most people would buy some steel wool and scrub away the rust. Entry-level geek would probably use some kind of de-rusting compound and use chemistry to remove the rust. level two geeks maybe electrolysis... super Saiyan geeks....WE USE LASERS!
Very cool. At $300-400 USD this is much better than solutions like the Glowforge. Also it looks like you might be able to attach the head to a 3D printer and etch using that.
This looks like a great entry level etching unit. I have to use some more powerful lasers for my job, so it would have been interesting to see what size it can etch to.
That’s a cool laser etching device. But for rust removal I would use a product like Evaporust. I have used it on tools with excellent results and it’s safe to use. After rust removal you need to protect the metal with an oil or paint so it doesn’t rust again.

Hi thanks for this video. I am mainly interested in laser cutting/engraving Silicone bands. Will this do the job and will you be able to do a video for this material and others? Thank you!
With the protective shield. Seems to be magnetic. Where can I find the safety shield. If I get more of magnetic shield. I could extend the square longer because it's magnetic. So if u want a bigger space. Buy a few more of these. Now where can I find one. Amazon need to just sell the magnetic safety shield. Would be alot easier to find on Amazon.
PLEASE use protective glasses. Yes, I know you are wearing glasses that block practically any light above 350nm but you give a BAD example for children (and adults). "When working with Laster always use protective gear". Besides that, I like the demo.
hey nice product! i want to buy one but i am not sure how it will deal with wood.. could you please make a test on wood pls and share the results with the community? thx a lot and always nice to see your new videos:))
the 1000w lasers they use for de-rusting and cleaning bricks, stonework, etc. are amazing to watch - I was actually really surprised this little thing could achieve any de-rusting like that.
@@davocc2405 Interesting nevertheless but it's far easier and more thorough it will be with chemicals because those will go into crevices and where a laser.
@@CMDRSloma I've seen the laser go quite deep - of course not as much as a chemical bath (often on the inside, etc) but the laser is very fast indeed, I am quite fascinated by it as I was trying to convince a friend of mine to look at it commercially. The other factors of course are how many items you can do with a batch of materials, side-effects (fumes, disposal, reflected laser light, etc.). The laser is indeed very expensive at that scale but I think at some point we'll probably arrive at a mixture of the two; laser for most of the visible parts and chemicals for the harder to reach parts (presuming a batch being done).
No glasses is super sketchy. If you are going to do tech reviews on lasers you should practice basic safety practices. While its not very powerful, its strong enough to do permanent eye damage with a stray refraction. Especially on a piece of metal. Why not set up the shield to create a partial wall instead of surrounding it? That way you can protect yourself and not restrict the size of the piece you work on. I appreciate you reviewing it though.
I don’t see how the laser can stay in focus for a large image. 15mm is very small. How well dos it perform for a much larger image say 50mm for example.
Hey Novaspirit.. have you seen that @Pi Labs put out a call for help? I am wondering if you have a sbc that you could spare to help them with there projects.. like Box86 and twister OS... thank you for all you do!
I seen in their Facebook page people complain about not receiving their codes??? I want to buy this as a gift but my concern is customer service you have to wait for codes hopefully not needed to start using it??
He he... a whole video of Don playing with his pecker... Of all the cool toys you show on this channel this is one of the ones I want the most - if I had one of these I'd scale the image right up and burn it into surfaces on the local bus station. This is the image I'd burn: imagebin.ca/v/5fd9VGmRFtv0
You could have saved you about $500 take them tools put them in some vinegar and water let them set for 24 hours come back and you aint gonna have no rust left.
"it's not that powerful" - you are dead wrong. This easily can cause eye damage. You always need to wear eye protection when working with lasers > few mW. Shame on you for misleading viewers.
I'd rather buy an Ender 3 printer and a high power laser accessory for more than $100 less. Plus, you have a 3D printer as well. Not as convenient, but worth.
There are much better and cheaper methods for cleaning tools, you could simply get a sand blaster tool and use a wire brush on a bench grinder, they come up like brand new, or you could use chemical cleaning, or you could use a wire brush on a drill many different methods that are much cheaper and just as good if not better than using an expensive laser made for etching, that's just a waste of a good machine.
hey, if I can say... SAFTY FIRST, No goggles, no shielding, no nothing, you should at least protect your equipment. it will burn your eye, camera... NO GO ... sorry

What laser would you recommend that could engrave stainless steel or gold?
Those 5k'ish fiber laser that need extraction and water/cooling systems. CO2 can 'mark' if you use something like Cermark over the metal before engraving or Moly Lubricant. There are vids you can see how people get by without using fiber lasers.
Fiber lasers come down. You can get one for 3300 shipped to your door
When rescaling photos for engraving put a coin next to your object as it is easier to do your scaling to that and then delete the coin image
Thanks for this! Is it possible to purchase the auto height adjustment kit alone, without the laser? If so, can you provide a link?
Just use a WD-40 for rust. In this way, you could save a lot of money 😉
Yeah, a $900 rust removal laser kit or a $3 can of WD-40! Hmmm decision, decision, decision, which one is it going to be?
Is this power enough to make PCB's with?

Excellent review but i REALLY would like to know if this can etch into GLASS as i upcycle glass bottles THANKS IN ADVANCE

"No, Mister Sheet of Paper, I expect you to die!"
why didn't you make the design bigger so we can actually see it

I want a small laser engraver to use in my woodshop for engraving small lettering in cutting boards... what would you recommend?
I am looking for a laser that would do stippling on polymer pistol frames and also yeti cups. Would you recommend this to do these or another laser?
Could you try on silver jewelry? Will it work good?
I lost my laserpecker charger, do u know where i can buy one or if another charger will work?
I still can't get over the name
Do you think I can engrave into steel tweezers ?
it's worth 100 bucks... for 350 you can get an industrial k40 that cuts 5mm cleat acrylic
Can it laser dog tags? Or light metal?
Can it cut the material through and if it can what size can it go through
I would rather use chemical methods to de-rust tools, this laser it's very gimmicky fot that purpose.

Can this láser do it a 3d engraving on wood ???? Test please !!! 🙏😎👍

Centering the image is not hard, yes I was able to engrave on plastic
White vinegar seems a bit less expensive.
Does it etch in color?
This is great.
Can it do scrimshaw?
