    ABOUT THIS VIDEO
Many people neglect the muscles that help you internally rotate the hip.
Internal rotation stretches alone often aren't enough to improve hip internal rotation. By adding hip strengthening exercises, you can improve your hip internal rotation.

I learned what I need to do at home! Currently in PT for foot/ankle issues. They have me doing a similar move but in a seated position. After the therapist said "Wow, I've never seen that before." He pointed out that my knee rotates outward when my ankle does. He said that I had to stop my knee from moving. How the heck do I do that?

You're usually good at explaining why we need to do whatever is in the video and what muscles we should be focusing on. Didn't see that today.

Its a great simpe exercise. however i woudln't recommend the caribiner... in case it lets go and goes smashing thru a window, or breks an expensive vase... that would be bad. lol
Instead, i just made a loop and wrapped/tied the thinner band onto the wide band to attach them together. as the rubber-like bans aren't likely to damage anything if they slip off under tension.

Thank you so much! I just found your channel ( or maybe it found me ) I've had major Spine Surgeries , was told I had 5% chance of ever walking again. Confined to that wheelchair was not how this athlete/ coach/ mother/ Full-time employee pulled in spending the rest of my life ! I did all the physical therapy that was recommended ( more like : how to adapt to living in a wheelchair) then I decided I would find a way to walk again. Mostly with my own Aqua-Therapy , I am now walking (limited distances) and Swimming . Just this one exercise was enough for me to sub , it is exactly what I was praying for . Something I could do at home , control the weight/tension & build up my strength daily . My goal is to one day be able to play volleyball Again . 🏐 Thank You !

Thank you, Matt! My left knee has never tracked straight while walking or biking. Just yesterday I decided to finally focus on correcting it (at almost 50 years old)! Your videos are so helpful! So much so that I decided to make my 1st ever UA-cam comment to let you know how much your content is appreciated and needed!

I've been suffering from outer hip pain on my left leg, and recently got to the bottom of it being really tight hip external rotators. The hip external rotators were so tight it felt more comfortable walking with my left leg rotated completely out, but hurt when I tried walking with my leg straight.
I did this exercise, and, man, the pain on the outside of my hip generated from my tight external rotators disappeared. The internal rotators of my hip must be so weak that they had 0 strength of rotating my leg towards midline, that's why it felt more comfortable walking with my leg rotated out. Although, I did start getting groin pain soon after doing it and its probably because I exceeded the pain tolerance my internal rotators could handle. They are super weak, way weak than I thought. I'll have to regress down to a much lighter weight, like Matt was saying.
    Very informative video.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Also I like your dark background in the intro as I usually watch your channel at night when I have time to do my Upright Health at home physical therapy sessions 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I'm looking forward to this and haven't even watched it yet! After losing 100lbs I still felt like I was missing something. Since that last video upload of hip stretches (for heel pain), I've undone years of damage to my back in a week.

I've been doing PAILS/RAILS for a few weeks to build my internal hip rotation. Gonna try adding these to supplement.

I lack hip internal rotation, it makes my feet fell apart (like duck feet) while sleeping on my back, I am going to try these exercises :)

What are some symptoms of weakness here other than the shakiness when doing the exercise. I’m a runner w knee pain and I realize that can be a lot of different things but could this be contributing? Thanks!

No description of the symptoms of poor internal rotation? You are usually good with the whats and whys - feels like you missed an opportunity here?

Yea , also correct me if I'm wrong, but a lot of these exercises look like they're targeting the tibial rotators and the external hip rotator muscles. Not the internal hip rotators like the title suggests :/

I didn't exercise my rotators but I did exercise my hip adductors and now my groin hurts haha. I can't walk without being in pain.
