Dallas, can you help me? I’m trying to do this on my Yaesu 400. I go through the login step and when I get the login challenge, I enter the 6 character response. I do it by replying to the challenge and entering the characters after the : It transmits successfully, but I never seem to get a welcome. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!
If you send a "P" command when this happens, assuming you are within two hours of a challenge a password, how does the system respond?

@@michaelo6003 My first thought is that either the last command didn't hit the IGate or it did, but the acknowledgement didn't get to you. Either way, P (Playback) will reveal the last commands received by the system. Packet loss is not uncommon in APRS. Either because the line of sight isn't clear enough to and from the IGate or because of collisions with other packets being transmitted at the same time. A look at the map on APRS.fi will give you some idea of what the LOS probability is to the local IGate. You may find it's too far to be very reliable.

I’m thinking it probably is an igate issue. When I tried logging in this morning, I received an ack, but no welcome from the system. The pathway on APRS.fi seemed fine. But then when I issued the P command, it didn’t go through, and when I checked the igate, it was gone.
