Chuffed to bits for you Rob. Have you thought about a hiking trolley system. Most are priced over what I could pay but was heartened to see loads of DIY videos on them a few other great cargo travel systems adapted from strollers, golf buggies even a crutch & two wheels was turned into one. Loving the genuine, helpful comments tho as with everywhere else there's always an eejit or two. I'm sure your experience is helping a few of us refine our plans for similar adventures. Keep on keeping on, refining & adapting as you go. You defo got this.

Hey Rob…Rob here. Look if you follow the east coast you will eventually run into Ocean City Maryland where I live. Keep in touch and if you pass thru here I can put you up in a hotel for a few days so you can rest and relax a bit on your journey my friend. I can also provide you with a few funds to keep you going for a bit. We are all struggling right now especially living in a resort town in the winter. I don’t have much money but I will give you everything I can on your walk. Take care my friend.

I am praying for you. You have taken on a tall order at the worst time of year. Do a half day at a time. It may take longer, but you need to get your shelter squared away before dark and be ready to deal with the cold nights. Shelter, sleeping bag, warm clothing and water are your main priorities. Try to buy freeze dried food and stay away from canned goods (they are to heavy). Make fire as much as you can. Better to be warm, safe, and alive, then worry about someone catching you out (Screw them). I will be watching your progress buddy.
Thank you! Yeah I just made some mistakes. And the weather went insane all of a sudden. Thing is, I really didn’t have much. Only the bare necessities, especially after dumping stuff twice on the walk. I’ll figure it out.

Getting through a rough spot however you do it is not failure. As you go through life you learn things which makes you better for the next day. Surviving for another day is success, and you did that. Godspeed on your journey Rob.
Hey friend. Watching you on your journey . Please don't look at it as failure its flipping cold out. You have a great support system of friends here their advice is good please listen to what they say. Half days walking set up your shelter n fire get plenty of rest and stay hydrated. I hated to see you ditch your water bottle and tarp . Don't be afraid to hunker down for a few days here and there to rest up and wait out a storm I'll be thinking of you please post at least daily so we know you are ok. Good luck my friend. From Kansas.
I was a Marine Corps Arctic instructor and have been all over the world, training in cold weather survival. I did 4 trips to Greenland in training out on the ice pack for weeks at a time. I helped teach Marine Corps aircrew how to survive if they went down in Arctic conditions, so I have some experience in this area. I would have never taken on an endeavor like you have done with the gear and experience you have. You may want to find a place to hunker down until the weather warms up more toward the spring. Cold weather is not a joke and I have watched many Marines who were raised up north believe they could handle it no problem, only to be medevac'd out of the field later during the training cycle.
Thank you! I won’t do anything I can’t handle. It was just bad luck. I’ve been fine with the weather, and been watching it. Literally right when I decided to leave, and announce it, all of this came up. I’m glad it did. I’ll be better prepared
Be safe on your journey. Will be watching and praying you make it safe. Im sure you wont be alone for your trip. You have gained a few friends. Good luck brother and stay safe.

Hi, Rob, I'll keep watching. I'm from Spain; you have subscribers here in Europe too! Please don't wait until dark to set your shelter. I dare to advise you because I could be your mother. Go on and be safe! God bless you.
Thank you! I usually do wait for dark, and I was trying. It just got too cold, and I've already had run-ins with coyotes at my shelter. I didn't want to run into a new pack in their territory.
Stay strong bro, you are killing it.you are also showing people they should count there blessings.your going to make it.i don’t know your route to Florida,if you let people know where you’ll be maybe we can help you along the way with food or something.or a shower or a conversation.hit me up if you come through NC.
Thank you! Yeah I don't know yet if I want to make things too public along the way. I'm still figuring everything out at the moment. Didn't expect anything to come of this.
Take a leap of faith ,you can jump into action.you got support all of a sudden.peoe are liking what your doing. So take help if you can.iv be homeless 8 or more years combined.i didn't accept help and should have.
You're doing great and people are recognizing that.much love and respect,we all have something to learn from you.i love your spirit and everyone else does too.
Hey Rob just a concerned fan and long-time bushcrafter you need to stop as soon as you can and bunker down for really bad weather I mean like digging a super warm shelter type deal it is going to get real bad and you are walking right into it sir. I hope your journey is safe and you make it to your destination good luck and let God be with you.
Made the same mistake with too much gear when I took off on my first bicycle tour some 10 years ago now. I stopped after about 2 hours and jettisoned a bunch of weight. I still tour and I always take too much gear but not like that first time. Whatever happens it's all part of the adventure of being a human. You're making memories that will last a lifetime. Keep uploading when you can. Stay safe
Some excellent advice in the comments for you. I have a feeling your channel is going to be big. You have a story here. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you. God Bless!
If you live outside then your outside regardless of whether you walk through the day or not. I think leaving NY and heading south to a warmer climate would only get better as you go so why not. Im Canadian so winter activities is not an issue and id love to be there with you. Try to have some fires and cook a hot meal it will pick up your spirits and make it a more enjoyable trip. Be safe, know your limits, and you will succeed.
I wish you had waited until Spring. I understand you wanting to get to a warmer state, but it would have been easier and safer to have waited until the weather was better. You're not going to stay as warm, getting rid of too much of your winter gear, and that makes me very nervous. 😨 Please find some shelter where you can get warm! And please don't freeze to death, just for a video.
@@RobTheNomad Be careful out there. My grown son and I were homeless and living in a tent during the winter for a time, and I became awfully ill with my COPD, and nearly died. ( I'm an older lady, and not as strong like I used to be) We're both housed again now, but I would never want to go back to that, especially having to travel by foot, in the winter again.
But you lived on to give it a try again. I say that’s definitely not a failure, Rob. I am a new subscriber and I am looking forward to seeing your adventures soon. Keep warm out there!
Keep on keepin on man. If ya can safely. Hiking on the move is different from stealth camping in one place. Staying along roads and towns will give you access to some things. Staying along park trails can give you some other supports. Either way I hope you have at least some money to help yourself when those aren’t enough. If you make it south of ny I’d still like to help ya. That being said, you have picked a hell of a time to try. Either way. Stay strong and good luck with your journey
I have so much respect with you Sir, don't give up no matter what, I know you can make it for good nothing else you will successfully reach to the highest point in your life! Finding our true purpose in life is challenging, it's rough, it's scary like a roller coaster ride. Once you get down from that ride you will realize it's such a great Fun. Praying for you always!
Hey Rob, Hope you got yourself ready physically for the walk. Sweating perfusely is the main symptom my husband had just before he suffered a heart attack. He was sweating much more than usual for the physical activity he was doing. His clothes were soaked and dripping in sweat. Hope everything went well for you.
You did the smart thing by bailing out. Winter storms are no joke. If you find yourself outdoors in winter, I recommend hiking for half days & set camp with enough daylight, raised bed & sleeping pad...gotta get off the ground or insulate yourself from it. Remember, shelter 1st, fire 2nd, water 3rd. Dollar stores have packaged tuna, rice, oatmeal, beef jerky, etc...something warm in your belly makes a big difference. Also, hit a Walmart when you can for a water filtration device & some way to boil water, carrying water adds to much weight.
Hi Rob, 😔 cold is nothing to play around with🤺⛷🏂, please set up your shelter⛺🛖 and get the fire going 🔥tomorrow is another day🌄 we're all praying for you🙏 God bless in Jesus mighty name✝

Walk or no walk use that phone and watch the weather my friend. I'm sure you know all to well how bad the temperatures can get. Be as safe as you can please.🙏weather apps and radars can really help.
Tou mentioned you were sweating during the walk. Make sure you go to bed in dry clothes, even if you have to sleep in fewer layers. Otherwise you will freeze! Keep some dry sleep clothes in your pack for when you go to bed.
Hey friend, maybe find some rest areas and catch some rides with truckers. There still are good ppl in this hateful world that would give you a helping hand. Also keep your foot ware dry as possible. I'm rooting for you. God bless
@@RobTheNomad yeah I get it. Be safe and just know you have so many rooting for you. I live in Florida and it's pretty cold here too right now in north central, take your time and take it day by day. Your always in my prayers, I was homeless for many years so I get it. Stay blessed.
I'm open to anything really. I just don't have access to anything other than what friends and family have been able to give me. Maybe someday, they look nice. But what if an animal attacks? That's what would worry me about it.
@@RobTheNomad honestly, I've have never had a problem with wildlife. For me being in the south, it's alligator's, wild hog, cyotes, and bob cats that mostly run crazy here. I mean we have the normal ones too. Deer, fox, coons. But that is one of the reasons I rather be up off the ground. Now I used to use just hammock and tarp with underquilt, but now that it's getting colder I have the one tigis hammock hot tent. That is great. But I also like hot tenting. I know that with the smell of smoke and presence of people will usually keep wildlife away. I noticed you camp sorta close to road ways, maybe move in a bit further so you can have a small fire. Or even use a Dakota fire pit. If you don't know what that is, ask me and I'll walk you through. But if you do happen to come this way I have some gear for. Lightweight and versatile. Sorry I won't ship it. I just know that you are really living my dream. In the spring I plan on doing the AT (Appalachian trail). I have been planning this for a while. Next month I'll be in Pennsylvania to do some hot tenting in the mountains.. who knows, maybe you will be in or around there at that time. It's 3 weeks away😄 don't know how fast you are moving. . Either way I'm rooting for you. Most won't get it.. but I do. I have moved all over this country. From Massachusetts to Colorado. Wouldn't change a thing.
Yeah it seems like you maybe needed a cart or a sled to start your journey. Part of me wishes I could do this also but maybe the Western half of the states LOL
Hey, new sub here. Looking forward to following you to Florida but I’m not sure why you want to go there. The bug and sand is horrible. Lived there most of my life. We are in Georgia now….not too far south of Chattanooga. Stop by and see us on your way through.
I'm about to be homeless due to black mold in the house and I don't want to stay with my mom no more she's just abusive I'm 39 5 years sober of alcohol six years clean off drugs but I'm in Mississippi don't get that cold here but I grew up 30 years in Iowa so I was homeless 2 years twice in my active addiction in the freezing cold be safe out there man if you ever come through all the branch Mississippi let me know
Laaa e laaha ill lal law ( there's no God but the God) blessing for you brother for sharing your survival skills this truly realities when we have to rely upon the nature to surviving
as your walking look for state parks you can camp in state parks for free . make fires and what not fish if you can . if it gets real bad snow wise you can go to the ever greens (pine trees) break off as many bows as you can make a pile of them and climb into the center of them . it will keep you off the ground the ground will suck the heat right out of you . and the top layer will get covered in snow and insulate you . it might not be super warm but it may save your life . be safe out there buddy your in my prayers .
You need a cart if you can't get some ultralight equipment. Then you can take all the stuff you need for winter travel. You have an audience right now so waiting for perfect weather might not be an option if you want the channel to be successful. Prepare now, and get moving!! Film everything!!
Let me know when you cross from N.C into S.C. border. I can feed you and give you a place to rest warm for a night Rob. Good luck and be safe my fellow nomad.

Nice journey. You should take the Appalachian trail to Georgia then head to FL
Tou mentioned you were sweating during the walk. Make sure you go to bed in dry clothes, even if you have to sleep in fewer layers. Otherwise you will freeze! Keep some dry sleep clothes in your pack for when you go to bed.
God be with you 🦋
Hey friend, maybe find some rest areas and catch some rides with truckers. There still are good ppl in this hateful world that would give you a helping hand. Also keep your foot ware dry as possible. I'm rooting for you. God bless
I’m not in a hurry to go be homeless somewhere else. That’s why I chose to walk.
@@RobTheNomad yeah I get it. Be safe and just know you have so many rooting for you. I live in Florida and it's pretty cold here too right now in north central, take your time and take it day by day. Your always in my prayers, I was homeless for many years so I get it. Stay blessed.
Almost 2k now! I’ll be watching. Would love to help any way I can once you reach SC. Keep me in mind.
Good luck man. I would be sure to go slow an steady. Maybe consider hunkering down when it ridiculously cold.
Blessings
Great job
Prayers for safety on your journey. I do have a question about how you keep your phone charged. Be safe and take care.
Thank you! In town at outdoor outlets, and portable charger.
Safety first, good call!
Hope you are doing well even with all the snow that got dumped on us.
Still good! Thank you!
Have you considered a hammock and hammock tarp? Super lightweight. It would make for smoother sailing 💯👍⛺
Just keep going❤
Yeah it seems like you maybe needed a cart or a sled to start your journey. Part of me wishes I could do this also but maybe the Western half of the states LOL
Keep it up! 👊 Be safe!
Good job buddy
Stay strong
as your walking look for state parks you can camp in state parks for free . make fires and what not fish if you can . if it gets real bad snow wise you can go to the ever greens (pine trees) break off as many bows as you can make a pile of them and climb into the center of them . it will keep you off the ground the ground will suck the heat right out of you . and the top layer will get covered in snow and insulate you . it might not be super warm but it may save your life . be safe out there buddy your in my prayers .
Thank you! I’ll keep a look out. And I won’t do anything I can’t handle. That’s why I left to regroup.
@@RobTheNomad ok well keep posting so we know your alright brother . ill be watching out for your videos .
You need a cart if you can't get some ultralight equipment. Then you can take all the stuff you need for winter travel. You have an audience right now so waiting for perfect weather might not be an option if you want the channel to be successful. Prepare now, and get moving!! Film everything!!
I will continue to watch
You Got this🚴
Ugggg! Pray you found warmth!
I did! I left shortly after I finished recording and I'm waiting out the storm. Thank you!

Let me know when you cross from N.C into S.C. border. I can feed you and give you a place to rest warm for a night Rob. Good luck and be safe my fellow nomad.
Of course of course we are wishing you the best... I don't know how to do it but you need to set up a patreon you have enough people here some of these people are going to help you brother
Thank you! I’m thinking about it, but also trying to figure everything out. Wasn’t expecting any of this!
@@RobTheNomad I have a lot of belief in you my friend! You are far from an average person this is why people love you
