yes that's actually a normal dynamic with group fights, because damaging a group reduces it's damage output it tends to not be linear and have some sort of breaking point. Like, say you have a group of individual you can kill 5 per swing and each deal 1 damage per swing and you have 100 life. 5 => you one shot them hp 100/100 10 => you kill 5, lose 5, kill 5 hp 95/100 15 => kill 5, lose 10, kill 5, lose 5 hp 85/100 25 => kill 5, lose 20, kill 5, lose 15, kill 5, lose 10, kill 5, lose 5, kill 5 hp 50/100 34 => kill 5, lose 29, kill 5, lose 24, kill 5, lose, 19, kill 5, lose 14, kill 5, lose 9, kill 5 lose 4, kill 5 and you're left with 1/100 health So you need 35 of them to kill you. Now if we try with 40. Kill 5, lose 35, kill 5, lose 30, kill 5, lose 25, kill 5, lose 20 => you dead, and 20 of them are left. The effect is even more pronounced if you look at group vs group battle where both side lose effectiveness by taking damage. Like, having two group of archer fire at each other, a slight starting advantage can end up creating a massive difference. Like with a fight with 20 vs 25 archer where you need 5 archer shot to kill one archer. (rounding down to simplify, normally it'd be probabilistic) 20(4)/25(5) => 15(3)/21(4) => 11(2)/18(3) => 8(1)/16(3) => 5(1)/15(3) => 2(0)/14(2) => 0/14 You can change how you round or simulate it some other way you'll get different results but with similar idea, here a 5 unit starting advantage (+25%), ended up creating a 14 unit difference at the end. going from losing 20 units in the tie situation to losing only 11, almost half. That's also why getting the first strike matters a lot, by damaging the opponent before they can retaliate you also reduce the strength of the retaliation TL;DR group fights have different properties to how 1on1 with hp bar in videogames typically work and they snowball a lot more from minor changes.

@@kazmark_gl8652it’s moreso that the ai and game engine can even do this. Phenomenal really.
1 AW vs AWs is just like a group of students return to take down their corrupted master.
Watching them slide to each other is so satisfying
21:46 did I just witness Gundyr getting mercilessly jumped?
My man Yhorm finally had his moment of glory ❤️
theres something so funny about seeing the strongest beings in the world being jumped by an angry mob of artorias cosplayers lmao
Midir straight up said: "I'm gonna be the ENTIRE problem."
24:40, the remaining Abyss Watchers all run to try and escape the boss room when they realise there's a phase 2 haha!
That vordt battle was cursed lmao The Abyss Watcher just kept spamming the rolling overhead slam and actually got away with it.
It’s amazing watching Midir just destroy a million abyss watchers with his fire and wide swipes. That dragon is just so fucking strong. 😂
When it comes to the bigger/more evasive bosses, the question becomes: How many Abyss Watchers does it take to absolutely blitz them?
I love the undead legion so much, nothing as cool as seeing the Abyss Watchers themselves swarm the enemy like a horde of angry bees :)
How satisfying the sister friede fight was. Can't outrun these maniacs.
Poor vordt, everyone instinctively rolls under his ass 😭, also good to see wolnir's miasma came in clutch
49:55 is funny as the painting knife thrower takes out an abyss watcher in seconds before doing the same to two of them
Abyss Watchers: *brute forcing a gimmick fight*
Yhorm: Muh fuckin knees!
The first time I heard "undead legion," I thought it was going to be 1 vs 100.
Do abyss watchers really have that little hp? Like I know they have low HP, but it feels almost comedic how squishy they are here.
I think this is the secondary Abyss Watcher that spawns after the main boss and yeah those are very weak. Without any modding I've seen darkwraiths glitching into the boss room and even those can take these watchers down in a few hits.
Yes, they have 367 HP each. Only the main one (the one that the boss health bar belongs to) has 1548 HP.
@@Pantaganaonly 367? Damm
Abyss Watchers can beat 5 Abyss Watchers… kinda like how a horse has up to 15 horsepower
This Choreographed Role at 29:41 was perfect!
I love how that's problably the exact way they used to fight lmao
This is so well done and entertaining
I wish Pontiff was given a lot more HP & a lot more poise. Should've been one of final bosses of the game... too badass a character to be the pre-boss before 3 lords of Cinder
Morgott moment
During development he was slotted to be the final boss so we almost got your wish
Thanks a lot for your video. Great job!
Bosses would have been very difficult to deal with if the abyss' watchers was on fire two pages
6 against Demon Prince
"Alright, so we're all gonna go at Demon From Below at the start, ok?"
*fight starts*
"GODDAMN IT JIMMY THAT'S THE WRONG ONE!!"
