This video makes me homesick for a world that doesn't exist
Never a truer word said... I empathise.....
I know just what you mean. 😢
Indeed! Even thought the Roaring Twenties had its problems, it was still considered one of the most exciting and innovative decades in history. So many radical changes in culture, music, art, and invention! Where's our time machine?!
What's wrong with the trans debate, Biden vs Trump and campus protests?!
Ahhh! My grandma was a flapper in Chicago in the 1920’s. She taught me how to do this when she was in her 70’s! She could still do it well!
I’m impressed!
I love hearing stories like the one you just told us. The "Flappers" from the 1920's always fascinated me,
@@anaheimdennis I wish I could have asked her more questions- we always take our grandparents history for granted when we are young.
I remember she told me her Victorian mother was pretty horrified when she saw her go out to the Speakeasies. She was a religious woman who still wore corsets and the flappers didn’t wear bras if they didn’t have to - just a slip under their dresses. My grandma cut all her hair off too - into a 20’s bob ( called a Louise Brooks Bob).
It was a very big change for women since prohibition allowed women into bars without escorts. She talked a lot about Derringer being shot outside the Biograph Theater in Chicago since her friend witnessed it. A lot about gin, Clara Bow (the “It Girl”) and dancing.
I have a picture of her as a flapper I’m trying to get colorized now. Thanks for your interest! Check out Glamour Daze on UA-cam. They colorize the 1920’s videos!
@@edl6398 I will! Thanks for the great reply!
Come on do not say that about your grandma.
I'm a competitive Ballroom & Latin dancer and I kid you not, the Charleston is completely beyond me. She nailed it and made it look so effortless!
Thank you Tasha!
Right? I blew both my knees out just watching her. I completely LOVE the music of the 1920's and 30's and the dances were incredible as well! :-)
In heels too!!
Have you tried it on cocaine? Flapper style?
Bullshit. I'm a fat hairy man who can do this. Don't ask, it has to do with hanging out with gays and lots of alcohol. The Charleston while awkward is mostly about centering yourself and tight footwork with a loose hip. Women naturally already have an advantage over males because your centre of gravity is higher up than ours. That's why women have grace while men have I don't know, lump foot? When players of NRL, NHL, NBA, Australian Rules football and Rugby want to get better at their footwork they take Ballerina classes. Being "light in the foot" was once a term to refer to gays negatively is now something sought after by sporting elites.
The LOCATION and the SUNLIGHT made the perfect stage for this WONDERFUL performance ☀️👍
what is the location ?
Yes, wonderful location but I didn't like the direct sun flashing at the camera lens, would have had the subject facing the sun instead
@@samasrujan Potsdam University.
Styled after St. Peter's...hence my Comment...
I think it's at Park Sanssouci in Potsdam, Germany. judging by the columns and their shape, I'd say it's the Neues Palais colonnade
We The World Needs To Get Back To Dancing!
This girl knocks it out of the park!
Cheers 🇨🇦
She's just full of freedom and joy, I loved this performance!
Unmatched joy through dance!
they dont smile because they enjoy it most dancers are taught to smile because it gets dildos to enjoy the dance more
I'm an old man but I had my feet "clomping" on the floor while I was sitting and watching this.
They stopped dancing like this way before the war so it brought old memories back ...
God bless you my child !!
The joy of dance has never been better shown. I lost count of how many separate dance moves this lovely lady has woven seamlessly together. There must be dozens, all smoothly expressed and seemingly effortlessly performed. But only great talent and genius can pull it off. Brava!
Thank you very much Gregory!
Love the little leg twirls that she does. That is what makes her take on the Charleston so perfect.
yes, i think those leg twirls are called "cow tails" in the charleston
Wow! This is the finest example of vintage dancing I've ever seen. The music, the moves, the setting - all simply stunning. Thank you, Maria, and please keep the videos coming! Modern jazz's loss is our gain. Your constant smile is the icing on the cake.
the finest example??? i think you need to do some more research!!... not trying to take anything away from this lady.... i dropped a like and such, but the finest example... either you re ignorant or simping
Just needs a drop waisted flapper dress.
You are fun to watch, I wish women could embody this beauty of yours more.
@@peterwdowiak2637 oh yeah pour cold water on enthusiasm, can't have pure enjoyment spill over into hyperbole or fun police constable Peter will fine you and call you a "simp". Rather be a simp than lifeless dry arse

I love the arm movements and twists. Her footwork is outstanding. Her choreography is top notch. Her smile joyous and appealing. I give it a 23 skid-doo.
I've watched this video no less than sixty times! This beautiful woman's ability to mesmerize her audience with dance moves that draw our hearts to a deep nostalgia and an energetic celebration of life is amazing! I just plain feel GOOD watching her dance!
Thank you so much, I'm happy that the video gives you positive vibes!
@@JazzyFeet I think you are amazing and the fact that you can take a Dance form from 100 years ago, and make it look so alive and great today! Once again keep it up you are Amazing
I have been a 20's music fan since I was about 16 years old. That was 43 years ago. You brought the dancing alive for me as well.
When you feel sad and sad, these gorgeous dancing women bring you back to life.
Exactly!!!😃
I went and looked up old videos of the Charleston and not only does she nail it, she gives it a glittering freshness that takes old time and makes it timeless.
that's just what I was thinking. She has all these old moves, but she's added this modern excitement and freshness to them. FUN.
The Roaring Twenties have returned!
@@jessicat3951 The dancing's great -- but the authentic attire would have made it so much better!
Endlich mal eine - vor Energie und guter Laune sprühende - junge Tänzerin mit einem großartigen Tanzstil und vor allem einem geschmackvoll, anmutigen und sittsamen Outfit!
I'm so glad that young people are keeping these amazing cultures alive!
The best part is that she's taking us back to a different time and style, which I find completely fascinating. Love it!
Bravo! I can remember my mother singing and dancing to this as she pushed the vacuum cleaner around the house. A memory from her teenage years.
Though her name is not vastly publicized, this dancer is absolutely magnificent!, It is rare that she is capable to do such extensive and vigorous dancing techniques! Thanks for sharing these videos .
I can't stop watching this. Your energy and smile are infectious!!!! Your passion and love for the craft is SO evident in every move you make.
I hope that she comes back and does more videos. She is a great dancer.
Can't believe that my grandmother grew up dancing to the Charleston. But yep, she did.
Watching you dance never gets old. Doing the Charleston is a lost art. Thank you for keeping it alive and boy do you ever accomplish that! 👍👍
She dances with her arms as much as she does with her legs. Just so beautiful! 😍
I remember watching my Mom and Dad dancing the Charleston in our living room!
Amazingly artistic, she interprets and enhances the freedom and the joy of the music beautifully. Her dance and the music are in perfect harmony conveying a light hearted joy of life.
And anyone fortunate enough to watch gets to share in this feeling.
Thank you.
Wow, thank you very much Dave for your kind words!
@@JazzyFeet What country are you from?)
I agree with your description 100%. I also want to add how much I love its unique quirkiness and ultimate feminine sexiness. I wish I were a bit younger but even at 52, once this damn pandemic is over I am going to find a swing dance class and aspire for this particular spirit! The most perfect one I have ever seen.
You stole my words and feelings!!! 🙃
When you watch this, you can see all the elements of shuffle dancing. It simply adds creedence to the saying "what is old, is new". No matter what, when done well it is beautiful.
Im no dance judge but i think its perfect. Its like rhythm and harmony made flesh and dancing joyously together with love.
That videographer knew what they were doing to capture the dancing exquisively, all in one take, using the sun to their advantage. With such a talented subject, this is an el primo musical/dance video.
Oh thank you so much! Happy to hear that! :)
Such an unusual location to contrast with this "modern" dance!
How did you manage to film it with out other tourists wandering through your set?
I could watch you do this all day and not tire. Full of energy and joy, thank you , Mark.
Oh my gosh. I can't stop watching this. This is one of the best dances performed on UA-cam.
I've always been fascinated by Charleston dances. You've done it amazingly well. Spectacular talent.
Wearing shorts may not fit the dance style but it does allow the viewer to delight in her awesome leg manipulations. Her beaming smile shows how much fun she is having, and brings a delighted smile to my face as well. Outstandingly entertaining. Love it!
I think the shorts are darling!
YOU GO GIRL! Awesome and ACCURATE! It's hard for a dancer to remember NOT to point their toes at the end of a kick, but that's precisely THE Charleston!
She has teleported me to 1920's.....awesome dancing!!!
When you dance,Maria, you let pure joy and passion straight from your heart to lead your beautiful steps, moves and gestures.
Super dancing, great choreography, really good filming, and a superb band!
Loved every minute of this, love her videos. What a talented dancer. Every time I see her do the Charleston I think of my Mom when she was young a beautiful. Thank you.
Not bad for 100-year-old dance absolutely fantastic I watch this cuz I'm recuperating from getting both my knees done replaced and I want to be able to dance like this absolutely inspiring listen to it every morning thank you so much my dear God bless
So ein hübsches Mädl🥰
...und der Tanz(stil ) macht das ganze noch attraktiver 👍👍👍👌
Everything is perfect in this video! The dance, the music, the location and charisma, of course!
You can see she's enjoying her dance. Wonderful to see. Thank you. Reminds me of my teenage years when my grandmother taught me to Charleston as she used to do it in her 20's in the 1920's.🐨🦘😉
When doing demonstrations as an art teacher, I constantly hear from my students, "How do you DO that?" Making jazz dancing look as natural as this young lady does, I can feel the astonishment my students must feel. She is simply amazing!
Not to mention some of the happiest music we ever had such a good time in America then
Whenever you have a song in your soul, move to it! 💃🏻👏👏👏👏👏👏
I loved it like this!
I could only imagine how great it would be if she had that 1920's
dress flowing with a big string of pearls, a finger wave Gatsby girl hair style.
Yep! Because she definitely has the moves!
Well done! Not only are you a fantastic dancer, you can see how much you actually enjoy it and that makes it that much more fun to watch.
Fabulous dancing inside the Palace of Fine Arts. My wife and I would walk to the Palace from our home a block away and dance inside but we couldn't Charleston like you! Bravo!
This must be what it is to truly have the music IN you. Wonderful. :)
Восхищён! Потрясающе девушка танцует! Браво!
I’ve watched this several times. I’m so jealous!
Love everything about this, great setting, flawless moves! 🌞✌️
One or two dance for day enough for whole body exercise and it's so fun too. Love this! What a brilliant exercise.🥰🥰
Oh wie schön! 😍 Ich freu mich auf weitere Videos ☺️🤘🏼💃🏼
Incredible dancing, and wonderful music! You are very talented! Thank you!
Finally a young dancer - sparkling with energy and good humor - with a great dance style and above all a tasteful, graceful and demure outfit!
Nailed it , spot on! What a lovely demonstration!! Very beautiful too.
"В Кейптаунском порту,

Как же хочется хотя бы разок станцевать с этой девушкой! У меня даже нет определения для восторга и восхищения Вами, прелестная танцовщица!
Maria is so lovely dancer 😍😍💃💃
Wonderful dance moves.
This looks like the Palace of Fine Arts. Gorgeous!
B-R-A-V-O!
This reminded me of the time when I was a boy, my grandmother was visiting and heard me playing old jazz records when she came into my room and began dancing the charleston! I honestly think that I was her only family member who ever witnessed her in such a rare form!
Seeing this video puts a smile on my face for sure!
This is a delightful comment. 💗
What a special memory! ❤️
THE BEST ANGEL DANCING # 1 too good / so beautiful dancing art
Wunderbar!
Wow 🤩, that heal kick was the chef’s kiss 😘!
That's what I just said.
Absolutely a delight for the heart!! Thank you!
So joyful.....Thank you
Love the beautiful counterpoint of three swans sailing serenely by in the water while Maria dances up a storm on land. Absolutely wonderful!
Ohhhh!
That cheered me up!!
Beautifully done!
Thank you so much 🙂⚘
My knees hurt just watching! Such energy and joy! Amazing!
I always wondered how the Charleston should truly look - what a razzle, dazzle performance!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh Marie ‼️ Your footwork is unbelievable. And your arms wrap me in awe. Alas. I am smitten. 😉
I'm absolutely loving this music!
Completely Adorable! Thank you!
Maria, every time I see you dance, it brightens up my whole day. Thank You Dear😄
Loved it! So much fun watching her have so much fun!!
Fantastic!! 🤩
Love everything about this
Wow…loved this!!!💃
Super cute happy dance! Reminds me of the best of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, but fresh and new and now. Hope you keep happy dances coming!
why is there not more of this? I demand more of this
One aspect as equally delightful as your dance: the international response! United in appreciation and joy. 🌸
A tough one to do as a solo, cracking effort, on beat, and superb choreography :)
Gorgeous, stunning and thoroughly imaginative movements. Thank you for sharing.
O,My....I went back to my Grandmom...in her basement...the old Vic trolla playing...the kind you hand cranked...and my Grandmom slipped into a very old style dress, and danced the Charleston....what fun!!!!
Movimenti puliti, eleganti, fluidi. Sorriso meraviglioso. Bravissima!
delightful i remember this song from long long ago( when I lived in a cave) the band is fabulous and the dancer-so talented!! thank you!
She's gorgeous 😍...such unbelievable fluid movement 😍.
Fun and simple straightforward no elaborate costume..
Love every second of it. Brava!! 💗💗💗💗
This is how art lives on. Wonderful.
I love this all, especially the footwork at 0:56 and the cow tails! You move so beautifully. Thanks for posting! 💗 LJC
Thank you Larry!
@@JazzyFeet she wants to stay unknown - but i wanna know where to get them shoes!% I blame Ksenia for all this - she gets an A as inspiration ;)
Those cow tails were PERFECT!
@@jmm1000 You can get the shoes at a quality dance supplies shop. There are various styles of tap shoes etc. These look like the tap shoes we used to wear and also for certain choreography. You also colour them to match your outfit.
This is stunning.
I once had a neighbour who’d been ballet trained in the 1920’s and 30’s, she said too much of (late 20th century) dancing didn’t move the dancers’ centre of gravity around enough, needed to chuck themselves around more. Watching this I understand what she meant. She used to love this whole style. Had three hip replacements in her later years though.
I’m in love with your dancing. You’re incredible
I'm not sure why UA-cam recommended this video, but I'm glad it did. Your enjoyment and passion shone through, and this video is a great snapshot of a lovely moment in time.
Thank you for bringing a timeless dance into one more decade
Quelle belle fille, sympathique , souriante et si talentueuse 😍!!
Fantastic! Very beautiful!
This is a real "FEEL GOOD" video! Fantastic dancing, music and setting. Thank you!
SHE IS SO RELAXED. FANTASTIC.
