Sacha Baron Cohen is the British actor/comedian who plays Borat. The majority of Americans in the film are not actors. They thought they were participating in a documentary. Many tried to sue to keep from appearing in the film. They all lost.

That sounds like when I went to a John Waters/Divine film festival of sorts after Divine died. The people putting it on didn't know what kind of movies they made. @TerryVogelaar 3 місяці тому +6

@@chinyereugwu9431 I see your point, but what I try to say is that the blooper was funny; apparently someone in Kuwait thought he found the national anthem. Similarly, the Borat movie was NOT to make fun of Kazakhstan, but to make fun of Americans who are so ignorant of other cultures, that they believed Borat's behaviour actually was Kazakh culture.
I'm Dutch, and my country usually ranks high in ice-skating. And an American reporter told the world that we are so good at it because our canals freeze in the winter, and we use skates as a mode of transportation. We laugh at that; it is not true at all. They also think that prostitution is a normal job and drugs are legal in my country. Do I feel insulted or degraded by these lies? Not at all.

i remember how brilliant this movie/doc was when it first came out. Only his cameraman, the prostitute (who, iirc is some comedian i think?) and Pamela Anderson were aware that it was Sacha.. everything/everyone else, as you could tell, is genuine "social experiement" footage and very much real... and awkward. There's funny stuff, but also truly first times it showed some of the deprave things being said, esp in the south scenes and his ability to get some of the worst opinions out of everyday civilians.. this was during the Bush administration and people were very tense due to 9/11 and the war across seas. For instance, i don't think many realize how messed up that one old guy was in the radioshow that you guys were like 'wtf' about, that was REAL, that became a an even bigger drama off camera during the national anthem scene apparently.
even worse, the buying a gun scene. how nonchalantly the gun owner was ready and helping Borat pick out the right gun in order to "kill a jew". Like, thats truly insane. Also, the guys from the RV actually attempted to sue Sacha once the ruse was up and everyone realized it had been staged. This movie could never be replicated again, imo, with how everyone is so content brained etc. This was before all of that and the idea of a 'troll' was just unheard of. I think it's one of those movies that deserves a rewatch once you know the background and how much was actually real trolling without consent. It just becomes really dark in some parts as mentioned above.
oh also, the sweet Jewish family he "ran away from", iirc, he felt so bad for that behaviour i remember reading he immediately let them know it was just a 'bit'.. which good for Sacha b/c that part was heart breaking. Insane movie for it's moment in history! I loved how you were able to roll with it but side eyeing it same time b/c it was a true exposure of some of the ugliest parts of Americans but also the kindest. 💙

Maximum horsepower of one horse is about 15hp. Sustained power during a full working day (6h) it is about 1hp. Horses have great peak power but fairly modest output over longer period of time. Just like you can bench press a certain amount but can't lug that weight around for an hour. Engines are great at sustained power, they just keep going without any need to take a toilet break or to stop work so you can eat, no lactic acid buildup either..

He was also known for his TV-roles as AliG (and others) and he was originally cast as Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody". "Borat" came out in 2006 and there´s a sensational sensational sensational sequel from 2020 (which you two can probably relate to better according to the themes). Almost nobody is in on what´s happening and both movies are about unmasking what people really think. Now please do Part 2 !!! 😎
