Dead Space is a science fiction/horror media franchise created by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, developed by Visceral Games, and published and owned by Electronic Arts. The franchise's chronology is not presented in a linear format; each installment in the Dead Space franchise is a continuation or addition to a continuing storyline, with sections of the storyline presented in prequels or sequels, sometimes presented in other media from the originating video game series, which includes two films and several comic books and novels.
Primarily set in a 26th century science fiction universe featuring environments, weapons, and characters typical of the genre, the Dead Space franchise centers on a series of video games beginning with the release of the first Dead Space, which follows an engineer named Isaac Clarke and the mutated undead horrors that surround him. Dead Space 2 is a 2011 survival horror game developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for PlayStation 3, Windows, and Xbox 360 in January. The second mainline entry in the Dead Space series, set on the Titan-based Sprawl space station, the story follows series protagonist Isaac Clarke as he fights against both an outbreak of the monstrous Necromorphs and debilitating mental illness induced by the alien Markers. yeah, having to squeeze in little mag (clip? battery? cell?) animations in DSR within the same amount of timeframe as in OG and DS2 made the animations less oomph chunky, I guess they make more sense. Hoping they can balance the animations better between maintaining the oomph and making sense if they ever did DS2R

I agree but not the pulse rifle, DS1 got the best pulse rifle sound
I've always noticed with half of the weapon reloads that it looks more like Isaac fiddles around with them
Yea but only in dead space 1. Most of the other have actual animations of the weapons ammunition and clips.
So what's an appropriate secondary fire for the force gun, a weapon that pushes enemies away?
DS1: Maybe some bombs that push enemies away?
DS2 & DS3: How about a concentrated beam of force?

Dead Space 2 version of Force Gun will always my favorite one. The sound and effect when firing the gun is so beefy and powerful.
The sound also fits as its stand-in for a shotgun

The fact they made the contact beam now fire an actual beam of energy is so cool. A lot of guns in dead space one were really not that great, but after playing remake and seeing them in a new light it makes me happy. Every gun is useful now.
The secondary fire on the contact beam in the originals were so terrible😂. You literally have to get crowded upon to use it.
The flamethrower went from one of the worst to one of the best in the game
@@claretheworm The secondary fire is the best in DS2, it puts ecstasy on everything apart from the fact that on high difficulties full upgrade, it kills everything with 2 secondary shots even the black versions
Before the remake Contact Beam used to be really powerful. It was OP if used in combo with stasis. You could freeze opponents, run towards them, shoot the ground and see them explode! It was also very useful if you got swarmed or surrounded by enemies.
In the remake the primary fire became the alt fire, but at triple the cost! While the new primary fire is not enough powerful imho. The whole weapon feels nerfed and burns ammo too fast for what it does..
The contact beam’s primary fire in the remake was taken directly from the corer, an exclusive weapon in Dead Space Mobile.
Dead space 2 pulse rifle is god tier, absolutely love the sound and feel
I honestly think that DS1, DS2 and DSR are all equally amazing but for slightly different reasons. DS3 just clearly sounds more dull and less powerful.
However, with headphones I feel DSR is certainly the best, sounds incredible. 👌

Gotta love the attention to detail to the flamer darkening your vision in the remake.
I like the OG DS Plasma Cutter, sounds very punchy as it should be for a mining tool.
1:40 I don't like that the remake Pulse Rifle looks like it glitches back into place when reloading.
I know I'm an outlier here, but I genuinely loved the Alt fire on the '08 Pulse rifle. I feel like it would have shined more now, given that you can be more easily overrun by multiple necromorphs in the later games.
I know the comment is a year old, but I wholeheartedly agree with you. The Original Alt Fire for the Pulse Rifle seems so much better than the grenades/proximity mines. Even just to like, get them off of you. XD
I can't remember that all gun in dead space 1 are avaliable in dead space 2. I always use Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, Javelin Gun, Pulse Rifle for entire game.
You should probably switch the line gun out with the contact beam.
Why is your setup the exact same as my first playthrough setup? but replace line gun with flamethrower.
I like the pulse rifle with its secondary fire in Dead Space one too much, it hurts that they will change its secondary fire to a grenade launcher.

But it's stupid in concept. You'd shoot yourself, if only through ricochet rounds. It's a military weapon in the game, so it makes sense to make it a rifle with a grenade launcher instead of a weapon that could kill your squad mates through friendly fire. I have my issues with the remake, but the changes to weapons are good. I can see how you're disappointed though if you liked the original more.
@@iWillWakeYouUp I was not saying it from that point of view, against the necromorphs that version of the weapon is effective, but in terms of lore it is very likely that what you mentioned happenedIn the same way, I still think that the pulse rifle in the games is fantastic, even if I have to spend all the credits in 600 charges and then they are spent in the second.
It's appealing and badass both in terms of visual and sound design but sadly it almost have no use in combat scenarios, it's almost impossible to get overrun by necros from all sides to make decent use of this alt fire not to mention it eats up ammo like crazy

I dislike the plasma cutter and line gun sounds in the remake. It sounds like an electricity bolt and less punchy that the original.

The shooting sounds in the original game are still the best in the entire series, including the remake. You literally feel through the sound the power capable of tearing and mutilating the flesh, tearing off a limb. The work of sound designers was ahead of its time by many years.

I disagree. 1's firing sound effects sounded compressed and is the same sound files in 2 but in a higher bit rate
The design is good but the sound quality I think is dated in the 1st.
i am disappointed there's still no Divet pistol as usable weapon in any of the games, it's a handgun of guards, and we only use it in DS Extraction , would be an awesomely interesting three burst weapon , if only it appeared as a bonus gun in a DS1 remake update at least

Line Gun infelizmente deram uma nerfada nela em DSR junto da Contact Beam (apesar da Contact Beam ser ótima ainda).
Já a Force Gun e a Flamethrower só melhoraram, e um prêmio pra quem sugeriu o tiro secundário de ambas no DSR.

Pulse Rifle in DS1 is the absolute worst weapon for a military.

I really like the pulse rifle in DS3. The design is a bit less outlandish in this one, compared to the other entries.

I noticed in the remake Isaac doesn’t really aim. In the original Dead Space he leans into it
if i had lasers on my guns, id probably hipfire more than aim, you get a larger field of view that way
@@drymass9990 just because you have lasers doesn’t mean your guaranteed to aim properly and hit them. Having good gun posture is paramount.

Love Dead Space after playing the 2023 game I'm replaying 2 and 3 and they're all great. I prefer 2 and 3 over the first because of the boring ship setting.

The DS1 alt fire for the pulse rifle sounds good on paper but was absolutely shite in the game
Also DS3s were a stupid idea to go from 1 and 2 mostly the same with some tweaks to alt fires but 3 let's add parts and frames wtf.

Looking back on this DS3 is by far the worst for every gun. They sounds and look dull compared to everyone. However in terms on animations DS2 and DSR are top tier.

Man, the spine rigs became unnecessarily bigger and uglier each subsequent game. DS3 being the worst offender of them all. DS3 really had the worst design choices they could ever implement in the whole franchise. I preferred the slick rig designs that DS, and DSR by extension, originally implemented and that seamlessly fit into the suit.
DS1's original spine rig looks so low res and overly simplistic. DS2 and DSR have way better looking ones.
I think the point behind some of the DS3 designs is that it is supposed to show that they are older or outdated models. The weapons and suits are meant to be from about 200 years. Still, several of the designs could’ve been better.
