I overhauled BMW engines and their GETRAG manual transmissions when I was a kid. I found them to be well designed with strong engineering. That was the 1970s before BMW became a car for posers.
I believe there would be money to be made in making a BMW engine gutter system that catches spilling oil, filters the oil and then pumps it back into the engine. Think a rain gutter system. As Jonny said, BMW oil leaks are a certainty.
This video is a perfect example why you stay away from German cars. Stick to Lexus and Acura if you want a higher end car that is a blast to drive, inexpensive to own and will go 250,000 mines with no oil leaks and minimal problems.
If it's always this issue.... With the same issue....Do it yourself! Or don't buy the car. Here in Germany you don't buy an old car if you can't fix it yourself.... Or it gets shipped abroad and they fix it for peanuts and drive it for another 20 years. All the m3s leave the country after the lease is over.
I love BMW's. Nothing else drives like them. Matter of fact, I've owned 5 in the past. This video is reason number 5, 397 why I'll never own another one
A lot of BMW design is crap , valve seals that dont last ! for instance why put a timing chain inbetween the engine and the gearbox ? Why make it a spindly single one that breaks ? Just did some work on an old 2002 ti the timing chain was the original duplex 1inch wide one.. .Remember the design life is 5 years no more...
Does URO make a Viton version of this gasket ? They make an oil filter housing version that comes with a lifetime warranty. I bet if BMW changed all of their gaskets to Viton they would never leak oil.
Why so complicated a car is resonablely simple keep engines as simple as possible well the more complicated the less reliable a BMW will only last 100000 miles compare it with Toyota cheaper than a BMW how reliable is a Toyota the answer is very reliable same for Lexus Honda and Suzuki
BMW absolutely sucks at engineering making some of the least reliable and most expensive to own cars in the world. And they can’t even beat much cheaper competitors from elsewhere in the world around their own famed Ring.
Bloody scandal how much it costs to get work done to a car nowadays. I just got a new timing belt and water pump fitted to my i30 and the bill was $1130.
It makes me laugh when people freak out about the cost of repairs on Teslas, when this type of exorbitant nickel and diming has become so commonplace on most modern cars.
BMW should sell out to the Chinese and let them keep the body designs and put better engineered engines at more affordable prices. BMWs are junk right out of the factory anyway so what could it hurt?
Yet they sell millions of vehicles annually and have millions of repeat customers who are satisfied enough to spend a substantial amount of money for a new one.
@@dogchainsaw3923 VW is either number one or two in global car sales annually and has been for decades. Mercedes is the #1 luxury brand worldwide . Hay Jonny - Get rid of the nasty solvent washer! Get a CRC Smart Washer! Works better, is safer for you (Especially since you we're wearing gloves!) safer for the environment and also less risk as not flammable!
Most talented Albanian mechanic in the world! 🔥🇦🇱💪🏻
oh and $12, $1200 bill... Chrysler PT Cruiser cam seals. Yea... I love my Chryslers, but I want to punch the packagers in the face for 1000 years continuous for how how much of a disaster it is to that job.
Why can't BMW cannot find a supplier that can offer a gasket that will last 100k miles is crazy. BMWs have had gasket problems since the 1990's.
Interesting stuff regarding the S85 glue injection and main bearing selection. Bet you laughed when he turned up with a V8 crank
If I was BMW I'd pay Jonny $5.0 MM to just shut off his channel........
If that isn't stupidity in engineering what is? A 12$ rubber gasket that costs 1200$ in labor to repair.
If it were 1200$ part and 2$ labour I'm sure most people commenting here would be ok with it.
the amount of gravy that bmws produce is absurd. They are always leaking
BMW should sell out to the Chinese and let them keep the body designs and put better engineered engines at more affordable prices. BMWs are junk right out of the factory anyway so what could it hurt?
Been known for generations. BMW stands for "Bring Money With" when going for 'service'.
The packaging on modern cars is horrible. You shouldn’t have to remove a bunch of stuff to replace a simple part under the hood.
Car journalists should be forced to watch this channel! They might learn something 🙂
Thank you for putting the Albanian flag in your shop. Keep up the good work!!
A BMW with an oil leak...INCONCEIVABLE!!
German engineering, the worst kind of engineering.
Yet they sell millions of vehicles annually and have millions of repeat customers who are satisfied enough to spend a substantial amount of money for a new one.
Just bmw.
@@dogchainsaw3923 VW is either number one or two in global car sales annually and has been for decades.
Mercedes is the #1 luxury brand worldwide .
Mercedes also makes the most profit per unit in the industry.
All of the German manufacturers are among the top ten most profitable.
If they are so unreliable warranty costs would have a major impact on profits but apparently it isn't too much of a factor.
Damn...no wonder Car Wizard won't touch BMW's.
Because he can't fix them
This guy couldn’t fix that Alpena hoodvie had. BMWs must just be dumb hard to fix
@@Jdp313 Which video is that one?

Because he’s a very ordinary mechanic
That is why you never buy a BMW if you cannot fix it yourself!!!!!!
E mer patriot si sna bere nje vend pune😅ai flamuri 🇦🇱super aty. Respekt
Good video. Looking forward to seeing more of that M6.
If it wasn’t for crap German engineering I’d be out of a job-seriously
Typical BMW design , you have to move five things to get to the part you need to.
Bavarian Money Wasters engineering, their styling is getting worse too next gen 7 series look like they took design cues from Hyundai😁
Dealing with BMW engine repairs...Goldmine!
thank you. because of your vids i will never buy a german brand. thank you for saving me money and time.
It was designed liek that on purpose. So dealerships will make money of repairs.
If I live in his area my Mercedes and bmw would be serviced there. Here in Indy I find only someone at his caliber servicing bmw only
planned obsolescence, turns to garbage with time...
I hope Mac Tools are paying you for the front and centre product placement. You should cover that up if they arent.
thanks for making videos, lots of fun to watch. you get the impression BMW over engineers everything and also doesn't seem to like technicians very much.
Why Toyota would partner with bMW on any product is beyond me
BMW: Broke Motor Works, you will be broke when your motor isn't working.
BMW has become a company that turns me off. Went from the top of the heap down near where Chrysler and Ford are.
You are always smiling even with the worst job and you keep reminding me never to but a BMW
@@EMichaelBall lol yeap for sure
Over engineering too many parts seem to go wrong you could say less is more in the sense of what can be reliable well it is German build ?
Johnny has an extension so he can tighten bolts from the office while he's on the phone with Hoovy.
I love the Albanian flag. Do you have Albanian heritage?
Wheres the safety glasses when using oarts cleaner & brake cleaner?😢
i got one worse. 2$ split pin in a transmission, 30k in labour and gaskets.
