- In this video I'm explaining how snapshots work. Instead of theory, I'm trying to show the consequences of creating snapshots and manipulating data. I'm showing how you can protect and restore data using snapshots (in NetApp 7-mode). Additionally I'm pointing to few things which you - as a storage administrator should pay extra attention to.
Amazingly explained the working of snapshots. No where I have seen such a perfect one. Thank you....
One of the best videos to understand snapshot.. Thank you for sharing it!! Good luck
Hello there,
It was a wonderful session, last two years I've seen several Videos about snapshot. None of the Video gave me 100% satisfaction. The beauty of your session is you're slow and steady and you cover all concepts in practical environment. Hats off Sir, please continue your service...
Probably there are better videos about netapp snapshots, but this is the best I found so far.

It's an amazing explanation.
Wonderful explanation !! Hats off !!!
Thank you Man!
really awesome...
Think easy: Put a cake an you desk (initial data), put a glass plate on it (snapshot), put some chocolate sprinkles on the glass plate (changed, added data)...
If you want to restore the initial data: Throw away the glass plate (with the chocolate sprinkles on it) = snapshot storage is now 0 again because the heavy glass plate is gone...
If you deleted the file, take the whole cake and pull out the glass plates.
It is technical not accurate but this is how i explain snapshot-technology to my co-workers and sometimes users.
THankyou
